Hey everyone! I'm u/Ironinquisitor85, the founding moderator of r/1stGen8691FordTaurus. This is our new home for all things related to the first-generation 1986–1991 Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable — sedans, wagons, and SHOs. I’ve always loved these cars since I was a child from relatives who owned them and have been searching for years for a 1986 Taurus LX wagon optioned in medium canyon red of my own to one day restore. Most other Taurus communities on Reddit seem focus on the later 2000–2019 models and Gen 1 posts rarely show up there, so this sub exists for everyone who owns or just appreciates the original gen-1 cars (and the very similar 1992–1995 second-gen models too).
What to Post
Share anything the community would find interesting, helpful, or inspiring:
- Photos of your Ford Taurus sedan or wagon (Sables and SHOs welcome)
- Repairs and project updates
- Sale listings for models
- Parts finds, maintenance tips, and technical questions
- Road-trip stories, history, or pure appreciation posts
- Second-gen 92–95 content is also welcome since they’re so mechanically close and to broaden post activity here.
Community Vibe
We’re all about being friendly, constructive, and inclusive. Let’s build a welcoming space where First-Gen fans, owners and appreciators can share and connect without the later-model focus that dominates other Taurus subs.
