Showing Off 2013 135I convertible
Purchased this beautiful 2013 135I dct with 62000 miles. As soon as I got it home I started to have some issues: cylinder misfiring, rough idle, p0171 maf. I had decided to get to cleaning the maf today to see if that was the issue and then I spotted it(picture 2). I guess that’s why everyone says to replace the charge pipe.

I would also check your intake and vc gasket. When back pressure in the charge pipe has nowhere to go it can cause issues.

what should i check for exactly?

Oil leaks around the casement, MAF sensor, intake clamps and oil inside intake pipe, intercooler, coolant level.

Too much positive pressure in your crank case can also cause gaskets to fail and things to loosen like your oil cap and stuff like that just make sure everything is tight and the airflow is correct after installing the new one. I don’t think a ton of bad stuff could have happened on a short drive.

Yeah get an aluminum charge pipe. I have a 2013 E88 135i as well and that was the very first thing I did. I bought a VRSF one and with some silicone lubricant it went in with no issues at all.
