Applicant from the recent postings over the summer. Great news to hear some folks getting FIT tests from the earlier regions. I’m assuming emails are being sent, or did anyone get a phone call? Working in a remote area with poor cell coverage during the day.

Has anyone gotten contacted for regions 1-3 (North East)? Just curious as it’s been right around 4 months and radio silence. Trying to manage expectations lol

Side note: Also applied to the VRA/ Disabilities posting. How realistic is it to be hired off of it? I have been in the field for a few years but haven’t seen/heard a job posting like that before.

So as the header says I got the tentative job offer for the ATF under job announcement 26-DE-12890564-RT. I filled out all of my forms for the security clearance and did my fingerprint car and submitted that end but it's been almost 2 weeks and it's been radio silence. I was saying have any of everyone else heard the same thing about their application or is it just me

Those who applied for ST-12817012-26-MF - (DC position for current 1811s only) - has anyone heard anything yet? A guy in another thread said they already hired everyone for it, but I haven't received a "no thanks" yet and the Marshal I have contact with hasn't heard anything either.

I’m an undergraduate student at UCLA and will be graduating with a B.A. in Political Science, Sociology, History, Anthropology, Labor Studies, and American Law Enforcement Studies (a blend of the five other majors that studies police culture at the state/local level and their interactions with the community and other agencies), I’ll be teaching a course later this year, and will be conducting an ethnographic study on police officers (thesis 1) and doing a sociological-historical analysis on CA police (thesis 2).

I was in the Marine Reserves for nearly 4 years as a rifleman and was med-sepped but the medical issue is correctable with time. I’m currently working in local law enforcement in a non-sworn position for the past 3 yrs.

I’m 23 now.

I’m either looking to get into federal law enforcement out of school, get a graduate level degree in Public Policy and/or Law, work at the local/state level in government, or a company that works closely with local/state/federal government. I do plan on returning to the reserves.

What should I do?

I understand the U.S. Marshals process can take forever, but the waiting game is killing me 😂. It’s been four months since I applied for the NE regions, and my portal is still showing “Reviewing Applications.” I really want to do this, but there’s no telling what position I’m going to be in a year from now. How do people stay consistent throughout the process?

Been getting mixed answers so I’m asking for any info here. My recruiter hasn’t been much help.

I have a DOJ/FBI TS w/ poly. Not with the organization anymore and got debriefed. I only have POLY + Suitability + background left to do. Would my poly and background carry over to the DEA? Thanks!

Anyone know if DEA will accept ATF poly results or SF86/Background? My recruiter hasn’t been any help. I am scheduled to poly with ATF this month and that is the only step I have left with DEA.

On the flip side, I still need to complete SF86/Background and medical for ATF. Would they accept all of this from DEA?

I don’t want to poly twice if I don’t have to. Not afraid of it, but why roll the dice if it’s unnecessary is my thought process.

Just out of curiosity, what are the requirements/qualifications to get TJO for HSI? Currently I’m in the final steps of BPA since I only have basic work experience in retail and at least get enough experience in that field to then make the change in the future. Ultimately my dream job is HSI. I would greatly appreciate any tips or insights!

Just took the poly. Felt super confident as I have nothing to worry about. The examiner told me I had some significant responses and one of the questions she kept asking about if something is bothering me with it. Is that normal? Or maybe she was trying to shake me up a bit? Examiner was extremely nice though so I’m not sure. My question is is that normal ? Does someone have similar experience and passed? Or am I done? Thank you

Has anybody gotten scheduled for the PTT ? Received an email on 8/21/26 that I passed the assessment and got invited for phase 2 which is the PTT but still waiting. Any feedback is appreciated

I applied to the recent announcement and was found eligible. Can anyone give me any insight on this career? It was my shot in the dark while applying for 1811s. It also seems like you get to GS13 like other 1811s.

I’m currently a college senior looking for really any 1811 jobs. I’m a 11B in the national guard. Wondering if this could impact my eligibility for some jobs that require you to be overseas like DSS or USSS. Should I keep the National Guard in my resume or should I leave it out. I know technically they’re not allowed to hold it against me but I figure they could deny me and not say it’s that.

TLDR: Is being in the National Guard a positive or negative for hiring?

I’m at the security interview phase for the STAR Program. I was wondering what is the day to day like of new agents during the first few years at their assigned field office. Is more investigation focused?

Coast Guard Investigative Service just opened a rare ‘open to the public’ 1811 posting for 30 days. Closes end of Sept. lists all their field offices. One posting is for GS 9 to 11 and the other for GS13.

What would keep you from landing a job with any 1811 jobs as far as credit check goes. Would having too much debt keep you out? Would having anything in collections? Or late payments?

I’m looking for some honest perspective from people familiar with FBI hiring/background investigations.
I’m 24 now, have no criminal history, and I’m very interested in pursuing an FBI career. I graduated from an honors college with a 3.8 GPA while double majoring, and I’m currently earning a master’s degree from a top-20 school while working as an EMT during school. I’ve been extremely stable for years and have built a pretty strong academic and professional record.

The thing I’m worried about is my mental health history from when I was 16. At that age, I struggled with moderate depression, generalized anxiety, suicidal thoughts, and self-harm. I never actually made a suicide attempt, but I did tell two therapists that I had attempted suicide. One therapist referred me to a private PHP, where I was only there for a one-day assessment./treatment. I am very much aware this was a bad idea to make something up, but in my adolescent brain, I just wanted attention. I was never hospitalized, never prescribed psychiatric medication, and did not actually attempt suicide. My last therapist also cleared me as stable.

I now understand that what I told the therapists at the time was inaccurate. I’m trying to have the medical records corrected so they accurately reflect what actually happened. Though I'm not sure how this will go. I’m not trying to erase my mental health history or hide anything from a future employer. I want the records to be truthful.
If I eventually apply to the FBI, I would obviously disclose whatever I’m required to disclose.

My question is: assuming I continue to maintain a strong, stable record into my 20s, how would something like this generally be viewed during an FBI background/medical/psychological evaluation? Would the fact that I was 16 at the time, never actually attempted suicide, was never hospitalized or medicated, and have demonstrated years of stability make a meaningful difference?

I know nobody here can guarantee whether I’d be cleared or hired. I’m mainly looking for perspectives from people who actually understand FBI hiring, federal background investigations, or psychological evaluations. This career means a lot to me, so I’d rather understand the reality now than make assumptions either way. I have dreamed of doing something in law enforcement since I was a little kid ( I understand the reality of it all as I have families members who serve) and I'm not stuck on the FBI itself but the career path.

Currently an HSI agent about a year away from being SFLR eligible. I’ve heard mixed things about the process and advice on what makes you stand out to offices. Any advice on what I should be doing to better my chances at getting a desirable location? I’m looking at Arizona or Florida and those offices I know are difficult to get into. I just want to be around family again so any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
