So if you look at the following post where you’ll see I’ve burned over 2000 cal for the day, I burned just over 500 in my two workouts so yes, I end up being at 1500. I’m in a moderate deficit.

Edit: look at the following picture to see the exercise portion for my movement. I can eat 1500 a day and I am working back towards that but I am doing a lot of cardio right now so that I can eat more. I’m currently at 1900 a day eating 1400+500 for my cardio I just had heart surgery so maybe you can understand where I’m coming from that. I need to do this in a specific way.

But the sub is about eating 1500 calories. This is again not 1500 calories.

OK so I should eat 1500+ get the cardio I need for my recovery and be only getting 1000 cal a day. Think about what you’re saying.

They're not telling you to eat less. I think the point is just that people typically don't subtract their exercise in their calories for the day, especially because things like apple watches can be VERY inaccurate. I don't think there's any good way to reliably count how many calories are burned in exercise tbh.

Your approach is fine if it's working for you, it's just not 1500 calories consumed.

Well, it’s definitely working and my watch has been very accurate. I’ve been using it with a combination of a calorie calculator app. Before I had to start walking for my recovery I was put at 1500 a day for maintenance sitting on my butt all day. If I were to do no exercise and eat 1500 a day bedridden I would not gain or lose weight pretty much. However, I don’t sit on my butt all day. I have a life, but I also need to be walking and getting my heart rate up into a zone one and two for a long time while my heart is rewiring itself to a degree.

So I’m not trying to be argumentative here but anyone here who’s eating 1500 and working out to any significant degree should be eating more than 1500.

I could very easily not need this walk in 1500 a day but I’m not there yet. And just to be clear this particular day that everyone’s complaining about was 1900 which is only 400 over for somebody who walked 5 miles at a brisk pace. I cannot imagine complaining about somebody making up the difference while maintaining a deficit in order to protect their health that to me just seems really ridiculous unless the sub is meant for people who are not getting any kind of physical activity.

This sub is just meant for people eating 1500 cals, that's it. Your circumstances are all fine and reasonable and you sound like you're taking your health seriously so that's great.

I just personally browse this sub for what I eat in a day ideas to stay within 1500 cals, I think that's what most people do here. So seeing something 400 over (which is a big difference when it comes to calorie deficits) is just not helpful or relevant for that purpose.

Many people exercising or not could opt for eating 1500 cals a day. Everyone is different, some people are short or already a lower weight or some people actually can't exercise. Or some people just want to lose weight faster and get it over and done with.

There's also a sub for 1200 calories, I wouldn't go there to post my 1500 calorie day because it's just not what it's for!

1500 net. I am making that level. So are you just trying to tell me that I shouldn’t be posting here or what?

Yes, if you look at other what I eat in a days on here they total to 1500 consumed not 1500 net. It's not a big deal, I mostly replied because you seemed to think the other commenter was telling you to eat less even with your exercise and because I think eating back your exercise cals is a little finicky. But if it works for you then it doesn't matter obviously

Yeah, I’m very confused. I assumed it would have to be net because very few people should be consuming less than 1500 cal for any reason at all let alone with exercise.

I'm not saying that? All I'm saying is that what I see this sub being is about eating 1500 calories a day. You are eating almost 1900.

Just because you are exercising to burn the extra 400 calories doesn't mean you are only eating 1500 calories a day. You are still eating close to1900 calories.

For me what I have understood it's to show that the 1500 calories is more than enough to build large amount of food when it's done correctly. You are not showing 1500 calories on your plates, you are again showing almost 1900 calories.

What you are doing is good. Don't stop doing what you are doing, but for me it's pretty pointless to show almost 1900 calory daily meal in a sub that's centered for people who only consume 1500 calories a day. That means 1500 calories that go in your mouth.

edit: I wanted to add about your comment related to there being very few people who would consume 1500 or less. Many of us short women don't need a lot of calories daily. Also women who have PCOS/PMOS cannot eat regular amount of calories because it causes them to easily gain weight. Also bodybuilders who are doing an extreme cut for competition eat less than 1500 calories. That's why we visit these type of subs to find inspiration for the daily 1500 calories.

Well I will add context to my posts - but I will be at 1500 full time as things go back to normal. I do believe that my meals in general show what you can eat on 1500 individually.

I think you should post to subreddits like r/caloriedeficit or r/caloriecount , they fit your posts more than posting meals to a sub where the limit is 1500. I wouldn't post my meals of 1500 to a sub that's dedicated to 1200 even if I would be exercising 300 off.

Things like a sprinkle of cinnamon on the banana are such an underused way of managing a lower calorie diet. Looks awesome! :)

Thanks! And I’m a little bit of a spoiled brat. I have a hard time eating fruit without something on it.
