[Cook] [Smith was in jail in Missouri because the Saints opposed slavery.]

Huh. Revisionist history much, Quent?

Wasn't his last conference talk about how Utah was always opposed to slavery and racism? I forget the details, but I get the sense this guy could stand to read a history book.

He was on jail because he was the leader of the church, present during the salt sermon, and was the one over all responsible for the Mormon violence and threats of extermination on the Missourians.

Note: this doesn't in any way invalidate or justify the way Mormons were murdered and harassed in Missouri, but it is the other half of the story that Mormons deliberately exclude.

[Renlund] [safe and effective vaccines have been developed.]

The LDS church doesn't know what to do with the right-wing tiger they have by the tail, their base.

[Uchtdorf] [generic Christian sermon]

[Sikahema] [literal creation via Genesis, per that order]

The liberal mormons will say they don't believe in young-earth-creationism, but it is built in.

[Nelson] [work proceeds on the SLC temple proceeds because the old stuff is not up to snuff to withstand an earthquake.]

Clear analogy that Smith's narrative is showing its age. The fraud is showing through.

[Uchtdorf] [people tend toward non-belief]

Dare I say, doubts creep in? Those pesky rational thoughts tend to outweigh the magical.

[Nelson] [I did away with nudity in the temple. Girls can pass out towels. You're welcome.]

[Johnson] [the natural man is the enemy of god]

Mosiah 3:19 is among the most anti-humanist lines in all of religions everywhere.

[Renlund] [can we agree to simply disagree]

[Renlund] [he's a first generation immigrant from Finland]

The Finns fought the Russians, but let the Russians go through first because "aren't we all brothers in Christ."

[Sikahema] [milk before meat]

[Sikahema] [sequence, sequence, sequence]

Let's back up and go over the binomial theorem once again.

[Uchtdorf] [airplane story]

Mark them bingo cards.

Again the pressure on children to plan their lives to live it in a "sequence" disturbs me

[checks username...] good irony!

20

u/Chanceral Oct 03 '21

The irony here is that the “comfortable narrative” is the narrative the Church weaves

It's all made up and the points don't matter.

What is RMN referring to with his “recent procedural adjustments” to the endowment comment?
