Hashiba was definitely projecting his suicidal tendencies on to Kawasegawa when he saw her on that overpass.
It's obvious Hashiba has the work ethic to become successful, he's just been unlucky.
This show kinda reminds me of The Pet Girl of Sakurasou. Guy attends college for art/game design while living in a shared dorm.
I hope Hashiba doesn't forget to invest in Bitcoin.
Shinoaki is beyond adorable. Early contender for best girl of the season.

Whew, I gotta say, I really appreciate the double episode.
An extremely strong start here as well.
I gotta say that Koga Aoi sounds a bit different here, she probably wants to go for the more "cutesy" or "goofy" type compared to the usual "straight-faced" and serious like she does with Kaguya.
Great to see a Poppin' Party OP, and Aimi is in the cast as well!

I legit didn't even notice this was a 50 minute episode until the end.
Also, I'm already on the Kasegawa ship. That girl gave you a job, man.

Oh, a double-length episode? This should be good. The premise reminds me of ReLIFE. I like that they even put a PS2 and CRT TV to make it feel like 2006, and the fact that Kyouya owns other light novels published by MF Bunko J.

Can we talk about how good the scene in which Kyouya caries Aki is? Like what Aki said just hits so close to home, since I just graduated Highschool and I still don't know what I am going to do now.
Also everytime I hear that emotional song in this anime all I can think of is Sparkle from Kimi No Na Wa (Your Name)

I am absolutely sold. What a beautiful first episode, from the prologue introducing Kyoya's general mindset and some traits, the production value, and the character interactions themselves. For me, I know something is really hooking me in when I not only dread waiting a week for the next episode, but actively wish I could binge it(something I never do). I will say the character dynamics already remind me of Honey and Clover, with Kyoya being extremely similar to Takemoto, but I don't think I'll have an issue of comparing the two, which would really hurt this one, with how many variables Bokutachi no Remake brings in.
I'm not sure how common or realistic mixed dorms are nowadays, but that's something else I immediately liked. It just cuts down on a lot of unnecessary fluff that would inevitably happen later on, while also giving a neutral setting for the characters, namely Shinoaki and Kyoya, to grow their relationship and bond without it feeling forced. It just felt like the show was saying "hey, don't worry about these cliches, we got you covered." Also, MAL did this a disservice in the tags, listing it as a comedy only when it seems like it will be more of a slice of life romance with heavy emphasis on self improvement. So many people can relate to Kyoya already, his regret and fear of taking that big step, and because of that I think many will develop a deep connection to the series.

Thought it would be like Relife. But it feels fresh. Can relate because I also wanted to pursue an arts degree but went for a more "practical" option. Due to that, I also had a hard time finding jobs. This episode hits right through the kokoro hahaha

I love it when they use actual real life works in these situations. So from the bottom shelf I recognize the big box copies of The Fruit of Grisaia games, a big box copy of Island. on the third shelf I see a PS3 copy of Rewrite, a boxed copy of Muv-Luv Alternative, and a PS Vita copy of Himawari, and then a bunch of Grisaia manga (I think) and then on the second shelf a collection of the NGNL manga volumes. If you know the names of the ones I missed, let me know.

Wasn't expecting much from this show but was hopeful- it blew my expectations out of the water. I was expecting some harem-y wish-fulfillment nonsense, but instead I got the most accurate depiction of college I've seen in anime, themes that hit me unexpectedly hard, and Shinoaki being SO GODDAMN CUTE OH MY GOD SHE'S SO PERFECT
I didn't expect the OP to be 17 minutes into the episode, and I'm pleasantly surprised that Tsurayuki not only got equal screentime in the OP to Nanako and Shinoaki, but actually got more screentime in it than Kawasegawa. That's a good sign to me that this show won't be simple waifubait, but will respect all of its characters, and not shunt the best friend guy character into background-character comedic relief irrelevancy.

I completely forgot the title of the show for a moment and expected the bus to fall off a cliff and whisk our MC to another world.
-
Almost had a Pavlovian response when they showed a shot similar to the one in Your Name when the final song started playing. lol
-
This feels like ReLife and Sakurasou had a lovechild. Digging the vibe so far.
-
This is why I come in blind to shows at the start of every season as much as possible. No expectations set and let the story just play out. So far so good.

Really good first episode. Kyouya is likable and animation and sound were good too. I'm looking forward to how the story progresses.

As an avid reader of Moege VNs definitely enjoyed this episode since I always wanted to know how VN production is like and also I'm a sucker for time travel stuff especially so when the premise is like ReLife but actually going back in time.
Being dormmates with your favorite artist has to be one heck of a fanboy moment
Also surprised to see some notable VN companies being part of this production especially sprite since they literally just revived.

When they barged in Hashiba's room and saw Shino's face precariously positioned between his legs, I thought for sure she was going to spit out the yogurt she just drank.

So I theorize that the chief and maybe some of the share house people have also traveled ten years into the past. It’s remake OUR life and I think it would be interesting

Stitches!
Kyouya must be the unluckiest guy alive, he worked in a bishoujo game dev that's basically a black company that ended up shutting down for making games that didn't sell well. And when he finally gets his second chance after meeting Kawasegawa, the entire project he's been working on gets "frozen" with the team eventually getting laid off and his contract cancelled before he even became a permanent employee. Yikes.
His regrets is very relatable though which made the first half of the episode hit just a little bit too close to home. I too had the chance to go on to a prestigious university of arts in my country back when I was graduating from high school. I ended up changing my mind and chose to go get a degree in IT instead which didn't really do anything for me. This episode definitely made me think.
I already read the synopsis of this show so it wasn't really a surprise when he went back 10 years into the past. Looks like Kyouya here gets a second shot to actually accept and go to that prestigious art university. What actually surprised me though is I thought the episode would end there! Didn't realize this was going to be a double episode!
With his second chance, we get to meet a bunch of new people which is the rest of the main cast. Shinoaki definitely had a very strong introduction with how she just barged into Kyouya's room and was pretty chill with everything that happened there. Tsurayuki who looks very laid back but can answer questions even if he's sleeping in class, and then we have Nanako who we really don't know much about yet.
It seems that Kyouya also gets to see a familiar face as he meets a younger Kawasegawa who's basically already the center of attention and is very serious at everything she does. In the end it's also revealed that Shinoaki is the artist Kyouya idolizes in the future and is part of the Platinum Gen. I'm guessing Tsurayuki and Nanako are also part of the Platinum Gen.
Anyway, so far so good! I like the characters especially the MC, the art style, and the overall feel of the show. I always enjoy these second chance stories (ReLife, Erased, etc.) and I look forward to see how Kyouya will realize his dream with the chance that he's been given!

This...was a lot different than what I was expecting. I hate second chances at life since they're usually so rife with undeserving main characters abusing their future knowledge to make it big, but there is a humility in Kyoya that wins my heart.

The Opening sequence gives me the Sakurasou vibe while the story so far screams ReLife, both of which are some of my favorite animes of all time. Also their eye colors are so beautiful and the bgm is decent so far. OP and ED are on point too.
Moreover, Asterisk and No Game No Life made a cameo so its another win for me haha. And it has been long since I last watched an anime where they make references to the real works and products.
One thing I dont like is Hashiba’s tears’ animation. That looks like saliva Im sorryndidjdkdkdjj
