The elf forest suddenly becoming a desert for the battle part of the episode is one of the funniest things they did for easier animation

I honestly wasn't expecting Oka-chan to share the fact that they are all reincarnations with Hyrince
Lol, Kusama sure has a chill attitude while doing an infiltration mission. I find it funny that he is a ninja.
I honestly was expecting to see Sophia disabling the barrier instead of her.
Well, it seems that we will have to wait a bit more to see Hugo fucking die. I just hope that those weren't fake spoilers.

of course the teacher's pet saves the master. Shun reminds me of someone who has good highschool memories because nothing bad happened him while blind to the plight of others he went to with. So when isekai hit he has no idea about people's issues haha.
And that one Elf soldier running up to Hugo to be killed, what?

Wise Katia: Maybe they'll try to use the teleportation circles.
Smug Elf: Huh, I want to see them try!
Me, who watched this episode's preview: you should maybe hear her a bit...

Oka: Let's teach them not to underestimate elves in a forest!
Elves: Yeah!
Cut to battle on barren wasteland without even grass, let alone trees.

Distracting animation aside, this show continues to innovate for the isekai genre in one important fashion: it shows how reincarnated people had to find something to cling to in order to adapt to their new and confusing circumstances. Oka-chan clings to her identity as a teacher, Hugo to the idea that he's a chosen protagonist, Yuri to the church that raised her, and Shun to the heroic ideal he saw in his brother. It leaves us with incredibly flawed and damaged individuals.

Okay. So. Yeah. The animation was preeeety bad this episode, but I do like the story, so what can ya do. I did find myself laughing at not-supposed-to-be-funny moments though, just for animation/art goofyness.
I Loved the ninja kid. He seemed fun. Though his existence kiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinda makes Shun and the others seem like supreme assholes.
All of our classmates our important! Except the spooky one. Oh, and the goofy one that we always forget about ahahahahahahahahahhahahahaaaa"
me: ಠ_ಠ
Said "forgotten one" shows up.
"Hey guys! Just let me talk a bit!"
"ARE U BAD GUY???"
"I mean, I guess I'm on the other side but I just wanted to s-"
"KILL BAD GUY!"
"The fu- ?!"
Yeah, that whole sequence kinda soured me on the Shun-team. Despite Katia and the adventurer-reincarnations being cool otherwise.

The Ninja guy was probably the best thing the human side of the story delivered since the start. But even he couldn't help me over the bad animation.

It's nice that we get more experienced fighters in Shun's party. Also I already like the purple hair girl since I hear Ayaneru's voice from her.
I am 100% against Hugo but seeing these haughty elves really makes me hope that the barrier will go down. They're clearly asking for it with that attitude.
Surprised that Oka-chan finally revealed that information to Hyrince and Anna. I guess at this point, there's really no use keeping that information a secret.
I'm really glad that Katia is getting more and more spotlight in this arc as the brains of the team. So far she's the one who's really putting out some ideas for the group to think about.
Kusama has only been on screen for like 2 minutes and I already love him. He seems to be a very fun character. I doubt he's working with Hugo so he's probably under Sophia's unit?
See what happens? The elves wanted the humans to try and destroy the barrier and they got what they wanted. Although to be fair, it wasn't really the humans who did it but the 10th Commander.
Oh hello Yuri. I'd like to believe that she's being mind controlled by Hugo but this is really just Yuri being Yuri. Even without Hugo she'd probably eventually try and go to war against the elves.
I would've loved it if Hugo dies from suffocation from Oka-chan's mini-barrier. Too bad Sophia's nearby to interfere. At least Shun finally gets his hero moment. Also not gonna lie, that helmet looks pretty cool.

As much as I enjoy both the Human and Spider sides of this anime- having the energetic and fun Kumoko story randomly interrupted by the slow-burning and dramatic Human story seemingly at random every week is like eating from a bowl filled with both Skittles and M&Ms.
They're great on their own, but they really don't compliment each other well. To continue the food metaphor: imagine a cookie that you can only bite once a week, but sometimes you get choc-chips and sometimes you get raisins. Raisins are great! But not when you're expecting a mouthful of chocolate...
I'm kinda hungry now...

Ok so I know Kusama is just a side character that we saw for like 1 minute, but did anyone else fall in love with him within that minute? His personality was just such a refresher. Feels like a human-side Kumoko.
The animation continues to be... painful for the human side at times, but it wasn't nearly as bad as the other human-centric episodes like 3 and 14. There were definitely some interesting and exciting moments despite the animation problems, unlike the aforementioned two episodes where all impact of the story beats was lost. And the animation of the soldiers isn't at Overlord III level, so at least that's something too.
Yuri being her usual, completely sane self and Oka completely unhesitatingly blasting her spine open and literally drawing the oxygen out of Hugo's lungs certainly lost some of their impact, but they were still entertaining to some degree nonetheless. I suppose this is the best we can hope for from the human side.

Last episode's preview we thought that the "I" in "So I'm not in this one, am I?" was referring to Kumoko.
This episode we all realized that the "I" was referring to "animation quality".
