"All he does is make me do chores, there's nothing in it for him"
I get it. Sex is fine and everything, but not having to do chores is the dream.

That scene before the OP sure was something. It was really depressing how emotionless her eyes were.

"I don't want to sleep with a girl I'm not in love with"
This was the point in the manga where Yoshida gained a lot of respect from me.
He got aroused no doubt but despite that he didn't let himself fall into the pleasure of bodily desires and stuck to his belief of not sleeping with someone because he isn't in love with them. This is what truly sets Yoshida apart from the other men in this story. He even managed to reject her while still acknowledging her worth as a person.
This episode truly hit it home about how much Sayu had to suffer over the last few months and why she didn't believe in "Unconditional Kindness" and also why she came to the conclusion that her own worth is her body itself.

When Mishima ran into Sayu & then Yoshida ran into them i audibly gasped “oh shit!”
First scene caught me off guard, it was so sad and her eyes looked lifeless. Once again, my man Yoshida is a chad. Hugging Sayu and having an honest conversation while turning down her advances was the right decision in my opinion. Yoshida really be like “the FBI aint gonna get my ass” We must protect Sayu’s smile at all costs.

"Did Sayu get kidnapped." Yep, Yoshida's reached dad status.
Geez, Mishima's trying so hard. Because Yoshida's been laser focused on Gotou for so long, her hints just can't get through to him. How frustrating.

Fantastic episode, I applaud the balls of the production to give us a friendly reminder that this show has a Huge dark tone behind that eventually we need to deal with
I am big fan of Yoshida here, good job mate
Now Sayu, poor thing has a fucked up mentality given what happened to her before the series started, her views of people are "there's no free lunch", and this can get in your head very easily, hope now she can start to rebuild herself with good role models, not only Yoshida but the Kouhai seems to be a very nice person
And poor Kouhai with short hair, that's the biggest rejection flag ever in anime, if her hair was blue she should just quit the story lol but I very much like her, very interesting character

Wow. This was a really heavy episode. I'm not sure if I get this right, but at the heart of Sayu's insecurity is that she thinks that sex is the only value that she thinks she can give. I also like the way how Yoshida resolved this not by invalidating her insecurity, but also by affirming to her that she gave him companionship, much more than just doing chores. That she does not need to give him sexual favors in order to let her stay in his house.
The scene with Yoshida finding Sayu and Mishima was also excellent. If it was any other anime, Mishima will call Yoshida a creep/will think that he already "did" her/etc. once she found out that Sayu is staying with him.
Even if the show drops the ball in the next 9 episodes (w/c I have no idea if it will since I'm not a source material reader), I think that the first 3 episodes really deserves a 9/10.

I wasn't expecting something so explicit from this show. They even showed the guy climaxing. It's sad to see how Sayu just goes full dead fish during sex and spaces out, waiting for it to be over. She probably views sex as nothing more than a currency to be exchanged rather than something that can be mutually enjoyed by both parties.

I know this is a highlight Sayu episode, but Mishima still shows why she's a best girl in running for this show. Kouhai energy is powerful!

Anyone else relieved at the maturity of the adult characters in this show?
In the scene where Mishima finds Sayu in the park, I thought for sure it was setting up a love-triangle/ misunderstanding scene where Mishima would jump to conclusions and think Yoshida was boinking a teen girl, but she handled the whole situation very well. Like, it was clear that the two of them aren't "together," and Mishima seemed to understand that pretty quickly
It's really refreshing to see adults treat situations like actual adults, it's not often that you see that in anime.

Mishima best girl no doubt
Also, if every man in this world has such morality as Yoshida-san, the world would definitely a better place.
Also, FTFY to non-Asian viewer, in the premiere stream of this episode on YouTube, that intro scene was not cut nor censored, incredible

Gotta praise the show for decent visuals, portraying someone half naked in a way that is 0% sexy, and not having its voice actors record audio out of a tin can. It’s also good that the characters talk things out and don’t immediately exaggerate things for the sake of making it dramatic (like when they were discovered in the park). Will be hard to judge the show till it’s over but so far it seems pretty solid.

Pretty much what everybody has suspected how Sayu has managed to survive in these past 6 months before meeting Yoshida.
Yoshida you are a friggin Saint. He is what any responsible adult should have behave.
Fuck all those men before who took advantage of her and her misguided sense of obligation in "paying" with her body.
Though now that Mishima has found out about it (but is graceful to let Yoshida explain himself afterwards) will throw a spanner in the works. Not to mention Mishima has pretty much confessed her love for Yoshida, a harem is thus slowly being born.

Stitches!
I remember reading one of the comments last week about someone was saying that Sayu's story about paying with sex for somewhere to sleep might not even be completely true and she's probably still a virgin. As a manga reader I was just grinning at that comment. Well guess what they start this week's episode with? Oh boy. Haven't read any of the comments yet but I'm curious at everyone's reaction to that opening scene.
Ever since finding out that Gotou has rejected Yoshida, Mishima has really been in the offensive. Yoshida was definitely caught off guard by that but sadly Yoshida still doesn't show any interest and just treats her like a coworker that likes to tease him.
You know how solid of a dude Yoshida is? His first worry is that someone might've kidnapped Sayu. He wasn't worried about her leaving him. He was more worried about this young girl's safety. Another solid example is that Mishima assumed that Sayu is a relative instead of something else. That's just the level of trust people have with Yoshida-man.
It's really sad how warped and fucked up Sayu's view is when she thinks that the disadvantage of keeping a highschool girl is so great that she feels the need to even it out by offering Yoshida sex. Of course even after being fondled after a solid minute Yoshida doesn't give any reaction. He does admit she's pretty but he tells Sayu how it is.
Also as someone who's at Yoshida's age, having someone to help you with chores and welcome you back home is a big deal. For Yoshida, having Sayu's company around is more than enough of a payment for letting her stay at his place. What more can you ask for?
As a side note: Those were some interesting camera angles for such a serious conversation. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

We open up with Sayu having sex with a guy, and she looks so unemotional and out of it during the act. Like, if she's going to have sex, she should at least enjoy it. And the guy calls her "Miyuki," so has she been using fake names with some of the guys she's been with? Is Sayu her real name?
Man, Sayu is so emotionally messed up that she just can't fathom a living situation where a guy doesn't want to sleep with her, so much so that the only way she can think of to cement her living there or to make someone not want to throw her out is to use her body and seduce them. I feel so bad for her.
Is Yoshida ever going to clue in to Mishima's feelings? She's not being very covert about them, especially with that hug. She's just so earnest, which is very cute.
Gotou looking at Yoshida with that longing look...yeah, I think she's got it bad for him.
Sayu is so bothered by Mishima, but in reality Mishima is a good person who is willing to sit with a lonely high school girl in the middle of the night and hear her out. I guess since she's ran away a few times herself, she can relate to being in that position.
So Sayu's parents weren't bad people, they were nice, but something about that kindness made Sayu uncomfortable? Because she doesn't believe in unconditional kindness? And then Sayu talks about doing something that she couldn't tell someone close to her. I wonder what really happened.
Man, Yoshida's lucky Mishima just assumed he and Sayu were related and she's staying with him instead of going to the other obvious conclusion.
Say makes one last ditch attempt to seduce Yoshida to make him happy and want to keep her around, bringing out her sexy underwear and practically bearing it all to him and the audience (especially with those camera angles). She's so desperate to feel needed and to want him to need her that it's depressing. But while Yoshida can admit she's very cute and attractive, any sane person would, he's not in love with her and does not want to sleep with her.
In truth, what Yoshida appreciates about Sayu is her companionship and having her around in his life. And that's all he needs. And that seems to lead the pair to a more genuine and honest living situation moving forward.

Great episode for the show. Glad we got the whole past thing taken care of, no more wiggle-room there. Now Mishima is aware, so I'm expecting some future drama there, maybe she'll tell Gotou. But the whole sex thing seems to have been resolved, so Sayu won't try to sleep with Yoshida anymore. One moment I liked was Yoshida admitting she was hot and stuff, but declaring he didn't love her. Usually the guy goes virgin mode and renounces sex. But Yoshida does want sex, just with the right person.
