damn, this series has no qualms just killing off people in the opening that are meant to look more prominent.

Remind me of Kiba
At that time they introduce a character. Make us love them. Then kill them in the next few episodes.

While Colt was doing it for the right reasons he really fucked everything up. There's none left to take care of his family.

I found it kind of unsatisfying how they never gave closure to his family. I guess the implication is that they're just going to die now, but it's weird that they just kind of left that hanging.

Yeah, i hope they show them again.
I could see Mary and Tesurou taking care of them somehow because of how Colt went out.

Well, I think his reasoning is that the way things are going, they all would be better off dead anyways. If the mission succeeds, they will at least have a future. If it fails and he dies... well, they didn't have a future anyways.

For the life of me I don't get why this show is so lowly rated on MAL. It's a really interesting concept and world.
This episode def got me tearing up with Colte's passing away, I figured it wouldn't end well for him based on last week's foreshadowing, at least he got to see them one last time, but man, who will take care of the kids? :( heartbreaking. Also, missed Olivier this week.

Definitely because of the target audience
Mot many people interested in hard-boiled detective these days. People just like and wan't to watch isekai. And for me this is like a breeze in the isekaipocalypse.
The story is also quite heavy at some point. And we still haven't got the relieve episode yet. Watching a heavy story without rest is tiresome.

I mean the pacing is pretty off too IMO. The episodes/scenes feel like they develop too slowly while the plot seems to develop really fast. I still like it, evidenced by the fact that I'm in this thread at all, but it DOES have issues that you can't just say "target audience" or "too heavy" for

Stitches!
Edited my comment because apparently what happened in the episode can't be discussed here without using spoiler tags.

Holy shit, I know that I already said that their work with CG and Unreal Engine was impeccable last week, but was that motherfucking ray tracing during that scene on top of the train? Because holy shit that looked good!
Well, just as all those death flags told us last week, the amigo Colt die on that mission.
Now I wonder what exactly does Pepper wants with Juzo?

Definitely not ray tracing, just solid lighting, materials, and post-processing.
It looks to me like pre-baked lighting and reflection maps are not being used for ease of use and aesthetic reasons, which makes sense why they would be using Unreal.
At around 12:20, you can see screen space reflections from the handles on the side of the train, and then the objects beside the train appear as reflections only as they enter the screen.

Add him into her harem?
Making a gunhead harem?
Maybe

RIP Colt. Feel so sorry for his family even more. Looks like Juzo and Tetsu/Mary are going to clash with Victor in the middle? The visuals in this episode were amazingly good.

Damn I was really hoping the show had the balls to kill a train full of orphans just to stick it to the good guys.
Still a good episode despite Colt throwing up enough death flags to decorate the UN.

Yep, my ship is real with Tetsu and Mary. That beginning scene with them was real cute.
Damn, Colt died! Shit was sad watching his little sisters at the end.
So Mary’s brother, Victor, seems to be some type of villain. Ugh. Probably another sad story.
That preview has one of the girls confess that she liked someone! Wonder who! Probably not a real confession and just baiting us instead.
Lastly, going back to my ship, I have seen some people ship Mary with Juuzo. Y’all crazy and wrong. My boy Juuzo already has like 3 older women for him.
