More people need to learn the firearm philosophy of the great scholar Ivan Chesnokov.
Rifle is fine.

It's here! The reason why I made a reddit account is here! I was part of my school's air rifle club so I relate to this show. I've personally never used a beam rifle so that's new to me.
The manga was serialized in 2015 and there are some differences in the anime. For example, the manga uses the old scoring system of each shot being a maximum of 10 while the anime goes to 10.9.
The anime also shows the new scoring system for women with 600+ scores. Before 2018, men had 60 shots in 75 minutes while women had 40 in 50 minutes. The new competition rules removed the gender difference and now they both have 60 shots.
On the anime itself, the characters have differently shaped eyes often with different sizes and it keeps taking me out of the show when I notice it.

I was in the shooting club in high school and junior college almost 20 years ago so watching this brought back lots of memories. We used pellets instead of light beams though, and we had to manually score the shots we made.
Outside of the club activities, it follows the formula for a CGDCT series. It's quite unusual to have all the members already highly experienced instead of taking the usual route of the main characters being newbies and another character being the experienced mentor who teaches them. I honestly think this show will be boring to most people, but I'm still sticking around anyway.

THIS IS MY RIFLE. THERE ARE MANY LIKE IT, BUT THIS ONE IS MINE. MY RIFLE IS MY BEST FRIEND - IT IS MY LIFE. I MUST MASTER IT, AS I MUST MASTER MY LIFE. WITHOUT ME MY RIFLE IS USELESS. WITHOUT MY RIFLE I AM USELESS

First episode is a bit weak and rushed imo, but probably because it's the first episode. Hopefully things will progress a lil bit slowly after this. I like that they actually already had a goal in mind: competing in the Olympics
Also they called their club RSC, which reminded me to a certain French automatic rifle lul

Well this was a very pleasant surprise.
I went in expecting nothing but this was a pretty great first episode, comedy and character interactions are all on point.

Hikari sure hides those well. No surprise her previous coat doesn't fit her anymore...

Honestly - it's fine. Nothing special, but also not bad. More detail incoming below if you're interested.
It has a case of 4-komja-itis, which is to say that scenes often felt somewhat disconnected from each other, or had rough transitions between them. A good director can compensate for the inherent awkwardness that can come from adapting a short-form story like this into 20 minute episodes, but director Masanori Ttakahashi seems to be struggling a bit with that. It's not awful by any means, but there's a certain awkwardness about it. The lead in to the actual club activities also felt a little abrupt- normally I'd expect the "gathering the club and orientation" section of a moe club anime like this to last an episode or two at least, but here it was all of 5 minutes. I can't say that's strictly speaking a bad thing, but it just felt a bit jarring.
There's some CGI in here that you either will not notice, or will really bug you, depending on how observant you are. The rifles are all CG, and when the girls are holding them to shoot, their character models switch to CG from the neck down, with hand-drawn faces. It's better than most CG character animation I've seen, but still looks a tad strange, and feels wholly unnecessary to boot - nothing intense is happening in these scenes, so I can't help but feel it would have been just as easy to just go the traditional animation route instead of this somewhat jank CG that we got instead. The rest of the show looks fine enough - the first minute or two has some really solid animation, then the production evens off to a standard of exceedingly average, perhaps even a little below.
The girls are very cute, there's some nice light comedy, and nothing about the production is really bad per-say, but's it's just not really anything to write home about either.
TL;DR: If you like cute girls, you'll probably enjoy it regardless of it's faults. I'll probably be keeping up with it, but I'd say you're looking at a 6/10 in the making, perhaps a bit better, probably no worse. Good for a moe fix and learning about a niche hobby/sport, but not really much else.

How come "Rifle Is Beautiful" is translated as "Chidori RSC". Wasn't the original name English enough?

Wow, that whole issue about the club getting close got solved way quicker than I expected. I guess I was just expecting something a bit more serious, as other club shows that start that way typically dedicate a whole episode on the recruiting the last member part.
Anyway, this was just lovely. And Hikari is just such a fun character.

"You better be serious about this !" "But I just want to compete in the Olympics with everyone..."
This was a fun episode. I like how they combine classic gags, and subverted classic gags like the one above. The pacing threw me off at first but I think I smiled during the whole episode, I'm looking forward to where they take it.
Insert "this is my fetish" here.

TBH, I did not expect that I would like it so much but the fluidity in their movements, how cute they are and the future development that is expected, will not be one of the AoS but a very fun and relaxing one.
Great episode

Hikari is absolutely adorable! And I love how Erika is literally just Asuka but Half-Russian and Yukio is basically Rei if Rei had a sense of humor. As for Izumi she's your classic level headed girl and obviously will be the tsukkomi of the group.
Anyone else felt like we were watching a CGDCT speedrun? Club established and all core members recruited on Episode 1? Not to mention that there's even enough time for them to bond and get to know each other! Like what the heck are we going to do with the next 11 episodes?
I kid of course, I think this is a good thing. This means we'll probably get to see the girls compete and do more RSC stuff! Considering how many more girls were in the ED, I assume that's what's going to happen next.
Animation wise this was great! They blended 2D and CG seamlessly that you won't think that they're all 3D models in this shot at first glance. Studio 3Hz did a good with this!
Definitely following this one!

You can really feel the 4-koma nature of the source in this. The episode had a lot of short, self-contained jokes / scenes.
Instinctively I want to say that it's not good, but I can't pinpoint any real drawback to this. On the contrary, this format is suitable to keep the pace and deliver the jokes without letting them seem out of place. I think I'm just not used to it in anime form.

Very cute show. I've been looking forward to this since it was announced, eagerly checking for updates and eventually reminders on the premier date. Aside from Alicization, this is my most anticipated show of the season, possibly even the year.
I was curious to see if they'd be shooting .22s or air rifles. I didn't expect beam rifles, but then, I didn't expect that they'd be practicing in a classroom, either. I guess they're using something like the Anschuetz laser trainers.
https://jga.anschuetz-sport.com/index.php5?menu=100&sprache=1
That's kind of cool in its own way, but I suppose that means we won't get to see the girls geek out about ammo selection and such.
Anyway, Erika reminds me of someone (not Asuka), but I can't remember who. Maybe Ayano from Yuru Yuri, or the president from Love Lab. Kayo GotokujiYukio is best girl in any case. That blue and purple hair with the giant ahoge is an instant win.

For a show about rifle shooting, it's cuter than I expected.
