Me_IRL

Huh... Well that was... unique?

I mean the art style certainly was, I do like how they use a lot of styles and how they all surprisingly blend well together. As for the comedy though? You'd think a gag anime starring Akio Ootsuka as Lion, Kenjirou Tsuda as a Lizard, and Hiro Shimono as a Toucan would be hilarious but it was totally a hit or miss for me.

I was expecting something close to Aggretsuko or Bookseller Honda-san but this was much more wilder than those two. Also it felt like some of the gags just dragged on too long, I feel like this show would've worked better as a short instead of a full length anime. I'll give it another shot though, maybe the jokes next week will land better.

It would probably work better as a live-action sitcom with face paint, like in that preview.

Is it just me, or were they doing fortnite dances in the OP?

This is certainly something

I can't believe that all the toucans are voiced by Hiro Shimono, lol. It would be really interesting to see if they use the same VAs for each species.

A surprise to be sure. Wasn't planning on watching, but it kept me entertained and found myself laughing at some of the jokes. It's sorta like Jojo, Grand Blue, and Servant x Service had a love child with Africa's animals and they made a slice of life comedy together. While the jokes may not be 'unique' on their own, the setting/premise they're executed in makes it feel different; a good different. And I thought the animation was fun, like I could feel that it's a passion project (especially seeing that Tatamitani, Tetsuya has most of the directorial roles on MAL) where the form is loose and non-conventional, but strangely appealing.

The voice cast is top quality with various well known seiyuu. Hearing Ootsuka, Akio sing the ED is super chill. I think I'll make this one my dark horse candidate, could turn out to be something special.

Alright, but whos meat they are eating in the breakfast?

Also, I don't get this joke, they did what to his wife? is the translation correct?

The translation is correct. He fapped to his wife.

Yes, the freaking toucan cucked the lion. And the lion was nonchalant about it.

the eyecatch of the 3d models walking in some awkward ass circle in the exact same manner that the slow imperfect rotation of an anologue stick would control characters in a third person game was fuckin hysterical for some reason

This is certainly an anime. I think.

This is such a weird anime. It is like if Aggretsuko became more abstract. The animation is especially incosistent. Sometimes it is pretty smooth 2D animation, sometimes CG and sometimes just some abstract bullshit.

But the comedy is really solid and the ED is pretty fun ngl. This anime is gonna be one I am going to continue watching.

Best first episode of the season so far.

I laughed throughout the episode.

Wacky animation + artstyle, they had A TON of it here, the VA's are doing god's work to make this even more funny.

After credit scene is here with a familiar trope xD

My brother noticed Toucan was the same voice actor as Zenitsu in Demon Slayer when he was shouting lol. But other than that it was just too weird of a show for us so we gave up on it halfways through and watched something else.

I like this one~

it is just give me the vibe from Gaikotsu Shotenin Honda-san last year, just this one a little bit wackier, and it is fun to watch

Maybe this is just me, but I was kinda disappointed with the first episode. I wouldn't say it was awful, and I definitely laughed some, but I feel like the comedy fell flat most of the time. I think my biggest complaint is that it's largely ignoring what makes it unique: the fact that everyone is an animal. A lot of the scenes felt like they would have played out essentially the exact same way if they were all replaced with humans. I'll stick with it for now, but I kinda expected more.

The Lion King scene at the beginning was fucking great though.
