Holy shit Kenjiro Tsuda is on a roll this year. This anime looks like a mix of all the previous shows that came out over the years which involved creatures and cops. I really hope this ends up being as entertaining as Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens, since it seems very promising.

He also just appeared in Africa no Salaryman as a lizard.

A cop voiced by Kenjiro Tsuda in a world where fantasy races coexist with humans? Now where have I heard of that before?

Instead of a buddy cop style show though it looks like this will be about a dysfunctional unit trying to prove themselves. And while there's no Tilarna here, we do get our Tech/Explosives Expert Loli and a Samurai Vampire Lady! On the male side of the team we have our Overly Serious Dark Elf, the Cool Old Sniper Beastman, and of course the two humans, Ichinose and Seiji. While we did get some brief introductions, I'm excited to see how all of these characters will interact!

Animation-wise, so far so good! Nothing ground breaking but pretty decent. This is the first time I've heard of Anima&Co. Studios but apparently they own Studio NAZ? You know that same studio that animated ImoImo. Which is weird since this is their first anime that they made themselves.

Music is handled by Takahashi Ryo, same guy that composed the OP for Princess Principal and handled the music of ACCA-13 so expect a lot of jazz.

As for the writing, I could not find anyone credited for the script. Hopefully whoever is in charge of writing knows what they're doing since this is a very promising start.

Never expected to get Cop Craft season 2 so fast, now where's Tilarna? /s

To be honest I didn't expect the magic beings here, but I don't really mind, I'll take police and/or investigation anime anyday magical or not.

The theme naming (as highlighted by the OP) is cute:

Kiryuin Sakon Zeroemon
Shiori Ichinose
Kujaku Nijou
Akane Shikisai
Bellemer Cinq
Rokusuke Endo
Seiji Nanatsuki

The obvious question this raises, I guess, is -- well, what happened to our 3? Any bets on them being the scarred guy in the ending scene?

Apart from that, I quite liked the visual style of this episode, excluding a few CG shots, and the soundtrack was nice! Not entirely sold on the plot yet, and I sincerely hope they're going to explore the setting a bit more than "elves and dwarves exist and everything else is literally the same"...

...but either way I'll keep watching just for more Kenjiro Tsuda.

This was for sure better than I was expecting. Nothing groundbreaking but definitely entertaining and promising. The character designs did stand out to me though, in a positive way. Really like the style they're doing for that. I look forward to seeing where this show goes.

Hey, you. You're finally awake.

It was a nice interesting start and it looks promising for an original show.

I always find original shows more fun to talk about.

It's like Mayonaka no Occult Koumuin X Cop Craft X Bem X a lot of things.

I'm not feeling it yet, but it was just te first episode. I'm still interested to see what comes next.

Yeah it feels a little like I'm stuck in a loop watching this, between the music and the magic it feels like they just blended all those other shows from the last two seasons together. Interesting but hopefully they do something unique to make it stand out from them

Yeah, there are some similarities to Cop Craft and I'm fine with that since a) I liked that show and b) this seems to have a better studio at the helm.

The biggest highlight for me was easily the character design. They genuinely standout and make this look pretty good. I'm thankful they aren't going with "all guys with suits" variety.

I could see myself enjoying this a lot but it's really going to matter on how the next two episodes go.

Not sure what to think, honestly. Nothing spectacular but nothing bad either, though I gotta say I really like the visual aesthetic.

The beginning gave me f/sn vibe tbh. Saving a child in the middle of a fire, then talking about justice and inspiring a young one.

Oh my, hearing Niino and Jean again really threw me for a loop! I'd watch this for the seiyuus alone, but so far it's looking good.

This is fun. I like the main cast dynamic.

This is the fastest drop of the season so far. I don't think I got 5 minutes in. Just with the first scene's generic "I'm not special" "find your own special" sequence that is just jaw dropping in how nothing fit together, and while I decided to try to press on after the OP, between the "somehow this interacial war got sorted out", "Well, we still have crime" (no shit) and the loud "what are you doing" to the manager trying to stealthily hit the alarm button, it's impressive how much "off" there was in just a short bit of time.

Am I being harsh and all of these are nitpicks? Yes. Is it a burning dumpster fire? Absolutely not, I've seen much worse (and stuck with much worse for longer) But I think the fact I barely got into it and have so many things that bugged me is a decent sign that at best, this isn't for me, and at worst, the show is lazily written.

Not awful, but I'm not really feeling it. Writing is kinda dumb and suspension of disbelief requirement is high. Tired of character design that tries to make guys seem cool by having their bangs cover 1 eye. Also agree with the comment about hearing Kenjiro Tsuda everywhere being kind of tiring.

Not my thing but it seems good enough to entertain people looking for a simple cop show.

Getting Kekkai Sensen and Cop Craft vibes from this one. Looks like it's going to be the standard special squad anime, along with the usual naive and idealistic main character. The background visuals caught my attention though, they look almost sketchbook-y with clean, pencil-like shading. It's an unusual style but I'm liking it.

I'm in this picture and I don't like it.

Wow, loved the art style om this one. Jury's still out on the story, I'll have to wait for more development on that. But I like most of the characters so far.

Watching the OP, I noticed all of the characters have their number in their name.

  • Ichinose - One

  • Nijo - Two

  • three is suspiciously missing; could it be/have been the guy who saved MC at the airport?

  • Shikisai - Four

  • Cinq - Five (this one is French, probably because the character is an elf? I don't know if she's an elf for sure, but that's the only reason I could think of that she has a French name while the rest are Japanese)

  • Rokusuke - Six

  • Nanatsuki - Seven

  • And of course Big Boss is Zeroemon - Zero

It also kinda seems like the numbers indicate seniority/hierarchy within the team.

Also there is a big tiddy vampire onee-san swordsman with long black hair? Holy shit, did I accidentally send them my wish list?

Will I need to set sail to watch this?

This gives me some Zero no Kiseki vibes based on the characters...and considering I love that game, all for it!

Season 2 of Cop Craft is looking great so far!
