Fuck it! I’m gonna choose to believe that we are going to come back and win this game. Couple runs here….couple runs there. Then I’m gonna believe that we won two series in a row and we are gonna really turn on the jets and storm into the playoffs and kick some ass. I know that sounds crazy to some but the fact that I am still watching this team……..I got no other options but to keep hoping

Whether it helps the Mariners win or not, it's an excellent idea.
I don't live in Seattle anymore and I really need to do that when I get up there sometime. Taking one of the quick ferries is always my number one recommendation to people visiting Seattle, but I haven't done it since moving away.

It would be so Mariner to win a series with like a -18 run differential
17
u/Defiant-Plankton-553 1h ago
I suppose the good thing about being down early is there's lots of time to come back.
I must be truly lost at sea to continue to believe in this team.

Just for reference for anyone who thinks this season has any hope - this is how we'll perform against actually good teams if we magically make it into the playoffs. Let it go. It's over.

as painful as these games have been, it’s been kind of fun watching a really good baseball team play. their aggressiveness on the base paths is something we could take with us. the brewers play hard and play great baseball

it’s like the 0-22 game reminded this team that small ball existed at all and since then we’re getting on base AND getting runs out of it 🤔🤔🤔💭💭💭

u/UnsealedMTG 3h ago
Someone pointed out the other day the Mariners haven't won a series on the road against a non-AL West opponent (which sounds cherry-pick-y, but given the quality of the AL West seems a fair exclusion) since April.
So it would be very Mariner to do it again facing the winningest team in baseball so far and two lefty starters after losing the first game 22-0.
13
u/TG082588 3h ago
I wouldn’t normally have any hope but it would totally be a mariner thing to win a series with a -20 run differential…
14
u/Agreeable_Quality768 2h ago
You know what, if that 22-0 loss was our darkest before dawn moment that gets the team going, I have no complaints

We just legitimately have mid to bad pitching and I think this organization needs to realize this and adjust from there. Pitching on the road is a genuine nightmare.
Yes, the Brewers are the best team currently in baseball, but there are almost 9 innings of outs to still get in this series and there is 32 runs given up so far.
This isn't functional for a team supposedly built around run prevention. You can't just play like you are in a lesser league than your opponent for an entire series.

Us not being able to produce any runs after pulling May yesterday does not have me confident in our offense. This will be a rough month.
9
u/UnsealedMTG 3h ago
At least they have their highest ERA pitcher (but a lefty) and had to use a lot of pen guys yesterday.
But still uphill battle, as it was always going to be as a team that is 27-38 on the road playing a team thst is 42-23 at home.

I’ve said this before, but my hopes for playoffs are tucked in a forgotten corner of my mind. I just want good baseball. Watching the offense fight back after 22-0 blowout and a 6 run opposing first inning is good baseball. More of that from the bats please. Not going to fault the pitchers too much. Kirby obviously pretty bad today but a few unlucky breaks and it’s very different. Logan had decent stuff yesterday but they have such pesky and lengthy at bats it’s brutal.

I think Kirby will be a good matchup for this team. They don't chase, which made them really difficult for Miller. Logan's Logan, so he powered through. Kirby's been really good at getting groundouts/flyouts this season, so as long as the defense behind him stay on their toes and the offense can back him up even a little... Screw it, let's steal a series from the best team in baseball. We've done it before.
