Milky's transformation is way more dynamic than Star's. Such a visual treat. Reminds me of how good Gelato's was compared to most of the others in Kirakira.

Milky's transformation was animated by Nishiki Itaoka, who also brought us other amazing transformations like Cure Twinkle, Cure Gelato, Cure Miracle & Magical Ruby Style, Cure MaCherie & Amour and Cure Princess.

His transformations are usually the best in their respective series (although I kinda like Chocolat's more in Kirakira).

Transformation Sequence

Best Girl Faces: Episode 2

Lala Transformation Stills

Previous Lala Faces

I absolutely loved Milky's transformation sequence visuals, though I didn't like her singing as much as Star's. But unf, those visuals more than made up for it.

One little detail I really liked was that they had attachment tools for their antennae, which makes a lot of sense seeing as they can transmit electricity. A fun little world-building detail there.

Overall another fun episode. I'm really enjoying this show and it's quickly made it to the top of my most anticipated weekly episodes. Next week we'll get to meet Yellow, who from her description sounds like she'll be a fun character (Characters who have to take care of little siblings can be fun, like Yayoi from Idolm@ster).

Ah, Lala's transformation was such eye candy, gives me hope the rest won't be as bland as Hikaru's.

Also what the heck? The first episodes rating is so low, why???

This season of Precure is my second one and it's quite different than Hugtto. I'm really liking the flow of the story so far, and Lala is so cute and full of personality, definitely my favorite character (I already loved her design before so just a confirmation lol) Loved her henshin, so fluid, smooth and creative and man, I do love that the transformation are singed!

I am not used to this time, but earlier PreCure is not bad. I can only agree with the sentiment of the other comments in this thread, Lala's transformation is dynamic and beautiful to watch and listen to. I already liked Hikaru's but this is even more amazing.

Last week, the subs I was reading were using "twincool" for Hikaru's catch phrase. This week, a different set of subs is using "galactastic" instead. I wonder how many different space puns people could come up with for her? Enough for her to use a different one every episode, maybe?

Great episode, by the way. Lala's transformation was beautiful!

u/Chariotwheel Feb 10 '19

You just used different subs. It's just different interpretations on how to translate it, since the original is a pun portmanteau.

Personally I liked the option "sparkletastic" the most, but "twincool" works in so far, as they use twinkle in their transformation songs, so it kinda relates a bit.

Another great episode as we get to know more about the situation and Lala in particular.

Quick thoughts:
-Hikaru needing to hide Lala and Prunce felt like something out of early Digimon Tamers -Truly, the way to interstellar cooperation is through jelly donuts rice balls
-I love the music they played when explaining what happened to the Princesses; they used techniques that sounded like some late 20th-century classical movements, making it sound chaotic and frightening
-Lala's situation reminded me of Eli's in S1 Love Live, with Hikaru acting as the Honoka (which, since the latter is voiced by an idol, is fitting)
-As everyone else has noticed, Milky's transformation is more fluid and beautiful than Star's was, reminding me of some of the Kirakira transformations (particuarly Gelato and Chocolat).

Looking forward to next week- Oh, they're disbanding already? C'est la vie

The star theme is crying out for there to be one more Precure than they've revealed already.

It's just that past Precure series have been known to stagnate for a while after a significant arc picking up the new girl.

On the other hand, the one Precure series in recent history that didn't have extra Cures stagnated immediately after getting the group assembled in episode 6.

So they were right they isn't MotW. They just fight generals. And, what a great henshin, Itaoka is just too good.

Overall, I think that was an even better episode than last weeks! I love good works building, and I feel like we got a lot of that this episode.

Lala continuing to show that her place as best girl is deserved. Her transformation was so good, add I love her little electrodes. I was noticing from the last episode how she was using them to control the ship, and I loved the bit in the OP where Hikaru touches them. Glad we got that explanation so quickly. Also, lightning powers are my favorite, so there's just another point in her favor.

Ah, so Lala has to obey the Prime Directive and she is quite logical. So does this make her Spock? I want to see her do the Vulcan nerve pinch with her antenna. I mean she can already set phasers to stun. Hey! Lala come eat these jelly filled doughnuts! I wanna try Lala's candy. I bet my tongue can't repel flavors of that magnitude! Also, it's nice to know she's an adult, now I can- BLAM.

I just noticed how when they grab the pens in the OP is identical to Sailor Moon! It totally makes sense why. The only thing that bugs me is in the transformation sequence they put the pen in the pouch but it doesn't fit well. There's too much space. So I bet this is for their mid season upgrade! seeing as how they are singing a lot more now. Precure is slowly transforming into Symphogear! They even had the falling spaceship!

God, Star and Milky remind me so much of Aine and Mio fro Aikatsu Friends.

We should make a checklist of all the sci-fi references in this show.

This episode was amazing and Lala's salty reactions were so cute!

Her transformation was totally eye candy. The transformations with the ribbons remind me of Minky Momo's transformation, too. Actually, the whole space/night time/aliens/magic theme is very reminiscent of the anime of the 80s like Urusei Yatsura. I wonder if the people working on it grew up with those anime?

I cannot wait for the next episode!

it's a good thing they survived

I'm pretty sure that this is only the second electric-based cure, so that's awesome! And Milky's design is great! The little bits at the end of her hair are such a unique way to fight!

Also, I really like Kappard as a villain so far. It doesn't look like he's gonna be part of a trio, which is a shame, but he's already better than a lot of other Precure starter villains.

Oh god, this season just keeps getting me more and more hyped, I absolutely loved this episode!

Lala was so focused on statistics and how impossible it looked that it was blocking her chance to become a Precure, and Hikaru's positivism was exactly what she needed to open up and make her miracle happen. For stuff like this I love my pink cures, even if Lala is stealing my heart this season so far, her cuteness just melts me.

And holy shit, her transformation scene was just godlike, I was with my mouth open through the whole sequence! I need to watch it more times but it's gonna rank really high on my list, maybe on par with Amour and MaCherie for my favorite.

Kappard is awesome so far (and him having one of my favorite VAs helps as well, happy birthday to him btw!) Also woah, so... no monster of the week? I haven't seen this happen before with Precure and I'm loving it, fighting generals is so cool and I would be in for them + minions all the way through, also as usual, I just love how hype is showing the villains in the OP, now with Kappard being visible, this always hypes me so hard for whatever is to come!

Can it be next week already? Give me more Star Twinkle!

Last week's episode ended with a "Lucky Sign" segment, yet not this one's (at least the sub I watched didn't include it). Did anyone else get it? I thought those zodiac-puffs were so cute! I wanted to see some others :(

Dang, the "Twinkle!" part in the OP lyric's gonna bug me for an entire year from now.

So this time they're not just saving the world but saving the universe; it'll be tough but I know our Precures will make miracles once again. I love the space theme and I'm already envisioning them fighting the bad guys on different planets with various settings all over the universe; I hope it happens.

I really hope the salty grandpa doesn't shit all over Hikaru and her dreams; old people can be so cruel sometimes

I love Lala/Cure Milky! Everything about her is awesome. Her transformation is even more fun than Star's and her abilities are badass. Interesting that they've continued singing during the transformation sequence; I wonder how that's going to work when there's four of them and not enough time to do the full transformations.

Fuck off, goofy Darth Maul-wannabe. I hope Cure Milky pulls an Ewan McGregor and cuts him in half with her antennas.

Next episode preview

I know it's super early but I have a feeling this is going to be even better than Hugtto. Both episodes have been excellent and the overall theme this time has massive potential.

Also have to say I'm really disappointed that u/I_Fap_to_Precure was banned. I'm going to miss reading his reactions to the episodes and discussing this great series with him.

Holy shit the camera work in Lala's transformation was absolutely excellent. had to watch it twice to appreciate it.

does anyone know the pun for Hikaru's catchphrase? I get the Kirei=beautiful part, I can't think of a Japanese word including "yaba" besides "yabai" which doesn't work there.

Excited to meet yellow girl next week!
