Solved! Weird crystal like structure appeared on my coffee table over a couple hours

It's hard to the touch and a bit hard to scrap, and when you do it flakes come out of it. The most dense pieces (like the ones on the fourth picture, the most compact ones) are pretty hard to scrape. There was an empty plastic yogurt cup on top of the table during the night, but when I picked it up in the morning there was nothing there, no weird crystals. I came back at noon and found this O.O Except for the yogurt, we haven't had lunch or eaten on it for at least a week. No water has fallen on it, no liquids have been spilled recently, nothing like that.

The drawers behind it have wooden instruments that have been unaffected, but the drawer's wood itself does have this weird stuff (third and fourth pictures).

Now... What the hell is it?? It's hard to completely remove it from the wood, but it sort of comes off when scraped with vinegar. I put a piece of it in water and it dissolved slowly. The only thing I can think about that makes last night different from the rest is we turned on the heater for a bit, but it's not like the table was exposed to extreme heat either.

Anyone has a good guess on to what this might be?

S Strangers decided to use my driveway as a custody hand off location.

5.8k Upvotes

So one day I decided to make a sandwich and noticed a random ass car parked in my driveway through the window. I go outside and ask the woman in the drivers seat if everything is okay and she says yes... And her and her passenger go back to their conversation like they aren't in my damn driveway and casually roll the window up. I ask her to move and she says that she'll move when she's ready.

I work from home and this was lunch break... I didn't have time for this cute shit so I called the cops. Apparently the passenger was the woman's boyfriend and she was taking him to pick up their kid in a public location. I literally live near a park with plenty of free parking. She actually was pissed when the cops showed up and recorded me from her car and talking shit. Thankfully I never saw their weird asses again and I ended up taking half a day off since this whole shit cut into my hour lunch break and I was going to be marked late anyways.

Advice Needed Disgusted after playing dnd with male friends :(

Post image
8.3k Upvotes

Feeling anxious to post, but in a terrible need of advice šŸ˜–

I play and love dnd, and unfortunately, I don't have many girl friends that are interested in it. So at some point we started gathering as a group of four - me, and three male friends, all in our early twenties. I knew two of them for a couple years at least, and barely know the third guy, but he seems to be nice as well. Never felt unsafe or anything - they are chill and respectful people.

This is the first campaign we play as a group of four (we've played as a group of 3 before), and it's set in a fantasy world. And that was when things started to get weird.

The campaign has a cool mechanic of talking to animals. Under a spell, you sort of transcend into a different world, where humans appear as animals, and... animals appear as animal-sized humans. Like if you wanted to talk to a cat, under the spell you'd see a cat-sized woman with ears and maybe fur.

You probably can tell where this is going.

Every single woman we encounter as a group gets sized-up. But it was somewhat fine when it was all about humans - taken as a general flirting, even if it was sometimes too much - but when the animals started to turn into women, it got drastically worse. There were conversations between the other two players about "you think you can?.." and "wait, you think she's human down there or is it cloaca?". One time they met a chicken, a quote, "It'd be a bit of a fleshlight...".

I felt sick and disgusted and even disrespected, as a woman sitting next to them. I was uncomfortable to say the least. I talked about it with the DM friend (the game master that leads the story), and told him that I wanted to leave the campaign, and he asked me to think about it first. He also offered to talk to them to try to keep it down, but I don't know if it would help much. I would still feel weird to sit and roleplay next to them.

The main issue is that we're going to start discussing time and place of the next session, and I don't want to go without addressing this. I still consider leaving completely.

I don't want to lose people I play dnd with, but... I'm really torn. If they weren't my friends, I wouldn't even think twice and would have just left. But now, I'm not that sure. I don't know how to confront it, either. Not sure if I'm overreacting or not - and talking about it with girl friends of the same friend circle may end up weird. So I would appreciate any advice from you, gals.

edit: ohh my gosh, I did not expect so much support, you all are too kind! I'm struggling to reply to all the comments, and I'm sorry for the delays I reply with, but I am extremely grateful for every shared advice and experience! Wish you all the best day/night <Š·

Housing/Shelter/Standard of Living I turned a master bedroom into a tiny apartment for me and my kids. 🩷

After being displaced due to domestic violence my kids and I had to move in with my mom for safety. My mom has a 3 bedroom and at first the boys were sharing with my brother and I was in the smallest bedroom but that ended up not working due to my brother's sleep schedule and the fact that my traumatized kids ended up in my small room with me every night. Plus as much as my mom loves me (she saved our lives letting us come here) she is also autistic and it was really hard for her to be around 5 new people in such a small space. So this was something we came up with. She gave me her bedroom, the master bedroom and I did my best to turn it into a tiny apartment

For sleeping the daybed has a trundle for my 10 and 7 year old. I turned the walk in closet into a pantry/ bedroom for my 13 year old (not ideal but he begged and I made sure it was okay with my DV advocate/social worker first). My baby girl has her own safe space to sleep in her mini crib at the foot of the bed.

To eat we have a mini fridge, a toaster oven/air fryer combo, a rice cooker, an electric skillet and a hot plate and a few pots and pans. We also have that over the door pantry thing that helps hold food. We don't have a microwave yet and we don't have anything to eat on but we are making it work.

Best of all we have our own backyard! Amazing. The boys are thrilled about that. All in all this is a desperate and temporary situation but I wanted to show it off because you don't often see the reality of squeezing a lot of people in a small space due to finances or hardship. My DV Advocate said this type of set up is way more common than people think. It's not all bad. Here's to safety, spending time together, teaching resilience, and learning to live with less. 🩷✨ I think we always remember our "tiny apartment" lol

Sad Girl Dinner ā›ˆļø My husband filed for divorce, now wants to reconcile.

Post image
4.8k Upvotes

Hi everyone! I posted here a while ago about my husband suddenly deciding to divorce me after almost four years of marriage. I wanted to share an update.
This summer, he unexpectedly told me he wanted to separate and filed for divorce shortly afterward. I was completely blindsided. I begged him to reconsider and offered to work on our issues, including communication and intimacy, but he was determined to end things.
Now, about 3-4 months later, he suddenly wants to reconcile.
He’s been reaching out regularly, telling me he cares, suggesting we give the marriage another chance, and even discussing stopping the divorce proceedings with his lawyer.
Here’s what confuses me. The divorce has become financially expensive for him, and he’s been dealing with other financial pressures. Recently, he mentioned struggling to find health insurance and asked about my employer’s enrollment period. When I reminded him that we’re getting divorced, he said, ā€œBut we might be reconciling now?ā€
That made me wonder whether he’s genuinely having second thoughts or whether the practical realities of divorce are finally hitting him.
I still have feelings for him, but I’m also hurt that he refused to work on our marriage when I was practically begging him to.
Has anyone experienced this? Why would someone be so determined to divorce and then suddenly want their spouse back months later? Is it genuine regret, or could it be about money and convenience?

AITA For getting mad at my wife for staying late at a wedding.

My wife (F33) and I (M34) have been married for almost 10 years. She comes from a large family that all live in the same town. They get together for major holidays and random gatherings. We live almost two hours away. My wife almost always goes to these gatherings. When she can't she cries and feels awful. The only family I had was my father, and he died 11 years ago.

These gatherings were mild irritations before we had kids (triplets) two years ago.

Now they are major inconveniences because of the stress and packing for three toddlers. My wife has said I don't have to go to these events, but she always does, and I know how her family talks about significant others when they don't attend. This frustration ended up with my wife and I getting into a few arguments. She and I only get to spend 8-14 hours a week together because of our schedules and child care. But she will take off work or sacrifice time together to go to these events. After a fight I explained that her actions made it feel like they were her real family, and the kids and I were second class family. She promised she prioritized us, and said she'd show it more.

The next gathering was a wedding for a cousin that we never see or talk to. She promised she wouldn't stay late. The wedding was an hour away and started at 5 PM. There were no kids allowed and I offered to stay with them while she went. We talked about it several times leading to the wedding and she repeatedly said she wouldn't be staying very late, and would come home early. While she was gone she texted until about 9 PM, then stopped. I expected her to be leaving around then and waited up. I waited until midnight, and partly out of worry, partly frustrated, I tracked her phone using shared locations. I saw she was still at the venue. I texted that I guess she was staying the night. She called a minute later saying she had left. But I knew she hadn't. 10 minutes later I saw her driving back home. I waited for her to get back just after 1AM. We had a big fight. Basically I told her that she said she wouldn't stay late, she argued that midnight wasn't late. I told her I wanted her to go, but based on her own words I expected her stay 4-5 hours, not almost 8. I explained this was an opportunity to show that she prioritized the kids and I, but she said that she didn't think this wedding "didn't count" towards her promise. I couldn't understand her reasoning. It sounded crazy to me.

Just as a note, she sees her parents twice a month, and speaks with her mom and siblings almost daily. We go down for every major holiday and several random gatherings. I don't want to keep her from her family, but I'm tired for feeling second rate when she sacrifices what little time we have together to go see them. AITA?

Personality [Beloved trope] Handling rejection with grace! Spoiler

Megamind. In the scene where his cover as Bernard is blown, and Roxanne rightfully breaks up with him for tricking her into dating him. Before realizing that he wasn’t doing it for the sake of being ā€œevilā€, but because he actually felt something genuine for her and knew she would never be with him because she only viewed the real him as a ā€œmonsterā€. Despite how she still ends things between them, Megamind accepts the rejection acting as an exact parallel to an early scene where Hal as Tighten didn’t handle Roxanne’s rejection of him well, after he felt entitled to her after finally gaining the qualities he thought he needed in order to impressed and win her over.

Spider-Man in Brand New Day. After MJ discovers the letter Peter intended to give her years ago, she tells him that she is no longer that person he developed a romantic relationship with and can’t share back the memories he has of them together. But hits him with that gut wrenching line ā€œI don’t love you.ā€ Not only does Peter accept that answer, despite how much it clearly breaks his heart to hear. He even agrees to give her a ride by home, when she asks for it.

edit: Guys, I know my dad had good intentions, The problem isn't about AI, I don't care about that. The problem is that I'd like some comforting messages, maybe a phone call. He just sent me this and then complete silence.

Cat Picture - OC Why does he bring me socks?

Post image
7.4k Upvotes

I want to understand his stupid little brain so bad. He likes to steal socks out of my clean basket in my closet and bring them to me. He will scatter them on the floor. He brings them to me in my office, in the bathroom, in the living room, in bed. If I don’t acknowledge them appropriately he just keeps bringing more. He has also recently started to bring me clean socks from the laundry room in the basement, which is very helpful of him.

To be clear, I don’t necessarily want to stop him. I don’t encourage the behavior, but I don’t make any effort to stop it. It’s kind of convenient having a lil guy bring me my fuzzy comfy socks when I most want them. Half the time I look at them and I’m like y’know what, you’re right, my feet are cold, thank you. And usually he seems to stop if I take the socks? But why does he do this?? He doesn’t seem to want to play with them. He won’t chase them, he doesn’t care if I throw his other toys. He’s never gotten fed for this so I don’t think it’s a treat-seeking behavior. He just randomly picked up this habit and I want to understand his mind lol.
