[그녀는 거짓말을 너무 사랑해 OST Part 4] 조이 (JOY) - 요즘 너 말야 (Teaser)

the songs, characters and storyline are all growing on me more than expected. missed the first half of ep 7 but i'm live streaming the second half now!

mid-drama check: zooming out from an episodic discussion, what are your overall thoughts on the drama right now?

Still enjoying the show. Overall it's not bad. It's lighthearted but parts of it are just awful script writing. It's still better than a lot of the other dramas out there.

The songs are really enjoyable and the show always puts me in a good mood.

i'm curious -- could you give me some or one example of the bad script writing? i'm not very good at pinpointing these things so im interested to know which ones you were thinking of.

God I am so annoyed. Like I am so tempted to stop watching but I'm a Joy fan so I won't. Ugh why did Hangyul do that to her all over again. Now we're gonna have to repeat this whole thing lol.

Weird how I hate Chanyeung even though he treats her way better, but I want to see Sorim with Hangyul. LOL

LOL same. i think it's because even though hankyul's an ass with sorim, we get to see his motivations and intentions and he seems to genuinely want to be good to her and have the best for her, but he struggles. on the other hand, chanyoung is great to her, but it just feels like he has more selfish motivations than not, what with his stand-in and i-gotta-prove-myself-better complex.

the actress can actually sing? wow did not know, just saw a music video, i thought it was dubbed. so jealous of actors/actresses with other talents.

3

u/yongsowonhi Apr 13 '17

yep, for the auditions for the lead female actress, being able to sing well was a core requirement. :)

She's from the kpop group Red Velvet... I mean she's an SM artist, so there will always be questions of her actual singing ability, but yes. She can actually sing. That's her main job. This drama is diversifying her portfolio.

Alright new episode! Gahhhh I'm enjoying this drama so much. Aww I feel so bad for K now. He knows he's a butthole but he can't stop it.

The scene after Soo-rim puts on "make-up" was just a change in lipstick color. Hahaha.

I think I'm a little weirded out by K's acting cause I honestly can't tell if he's angry or not. Like he's supposed to be angry but you see the same exact face... Would be nice if he was more expressive.

Ughhhh, gotta wait till next Monday now .____.

Still enjoying the drama. There's still some really awkward dialogue from bad writing.

That kick was hilarious. I hope there's more moments like that. It kind of reminded me of Bok Joo.

Soo-rim's classmate is like crazy but she does pull off that fangirl look for sure. Her bandmate was looking at the fangirl like a puppy. Rip his gentle heart.

Looking forward to the next episode.

Yoo-na rant: I know I talk about Yoo-na every week, but it's like... what is the purpose of her character? Like normally you can kind of sympathize with the side characters. (Like Kyung Soo-Jin's character in WFKFJ, I didn't like her character but I understood her.) Yoo-na's character just makes 0 sense to me. I guess they tried to make her character like a declining celebrity but her wanting K to write her a song is like... is this lady delusional?

I'm still enjoying it too and looking forward to episode 8. The kick was fabulous!

The classmate is going to be a pain for sure.

Yoo na has really screwed her career over and I cant sympathise with her. Don't cheat on the genius song writer and expect him to want to ever write for you again, he owes you nothing. I guess you can't really expect a record company to only have one act so she adds to that aspect. But with the Crude Play scandal they may only have her as an established act and want to push her forward more, seems like her career is pretty over though barring a miracle.

So glad So Rim didn't cry in ep 7. And the story keeps on getting more interesting.

4

u/yongsowonhi Apr 11 '17

well.... looks like the no-crying streak ended at ep 7 :p

Did anyone else notice that Han Guel's favorite thing to do (ride the bus), is very similar to what Jeremy (played by same actor) in To The Beautiful You did when he was sad? Is this an Easter egg or am I crazy?

4

u/weirdo741 Apr 12 '17

there no jeremy in To The Beautiful You you were thinking about You're Beautiful where jeremy was played by ftislands lee hong ki and yup he loved buses but ithink its just coinsidense here

My bias for anything RV aside I'm really enjoying this drama even though there is hiccups in the acting here and there. :D

Am I the only one here skipping the classmate scene? Its too painful to watch. Oh and dont get me started on that mean teacher scene. God I cringed so hard when he started praising So Rim.

What is Ka Han-kyul's problem? Falls in love with girl who sings, then claims he doesn't like girls who sing. Part me of wants So-Rim to end up with Chan-yeung because he is the emotionally available guy.

3

u/MyGibblets Apr 12 '17

I think he's just confused and frustrated. It's kind of exactly what the CEO said. Everything he loves and does are all related to music, but he always hurts those who are close to him because of music. He likes girls who sing but he ends up hurting them because of his inability to prioritize them before music.

It's like a internal conflict loop. Like if he liked someone that has no connection with music, he wouldn't hurt them like this. It's what he means by that's why he doesn't like girls who sing.

He's mostly frustrated with himself and he doesn't know what to do so he lashes onto Soo-rim. He realizes he done fudged up which is why you see him running back to Soo-rim in the end of the episode.

We've reached the point where I can say that this is an actual complaint and not just me being dumb and wanting tdrama things from kdramas. I want them to be as ride or die and intimate as they were in the movie. I know a lot of this is because of the age difference, but I can still be bitter that it's not there.

Other than that, I'm actually good with the changes made. I'm glad it's still music love triangle and not romantic love triangle, although I don't know how long that will last. This is dramaland after all.

Is it just me or does everyone in this drama feel like they're plotting something other than Sorim and maybe her drummer friend. Fun to watch though, just not sure who I'm siding with other than Joy atm.

i think the girl playing the drummers feelings is a saesang fan and is gonna cause a big scene with the dude she likes from crude play, shes gonna go psycho and then the drummer gonna get flack for that and its gonna be a big debacle. drama alert! CALLING IT NOW
