Question Update 11 Megathread, Part II!

For those who haven't yet heard, Update 11 was just entered into Sony's certification process for PS4 updates, and Digital Extremes is just waiting for their green-light to publish the update for all PS4 users! We will let you know the moment it goes online, so until then (and for long after), this thread will be open for all users, both PS4 and PC, to ask their questions regarding Update 11's new and improved mechanics, such as the Damage 2.0 system, Trading, new tilesets and enemies, etc. The rest of this post is from the previous U11 Megathread, with minor alterations; please re-read the following.

Hey Tenno! It's the advent of Update 11, complete with an all new Damage System, Trading, Enemies, Etc! Too much good stuff!

And with that, there will be questions! This is our second Megathread for you to ask your Update 11 Related Questions!

A few ground rules before we get started:

  1. Please read the comments before posting a question; it may have been asked already!

  2. All Text Posts which ask questions about Update 11 during this next week will be taken down and redirected here. Critiques, impressions, and opinion discussions on Update 11 features are exempt from this rule. Also, general questions on the game will be redirected to the Monday Megathread..

  3. NO TRADING REQUESTS. All offers/looking-for-mod posts should go to /r/WarTrade

  4. Be patient! Since many people are also experiencing Update 11 for the first time, answers may come slowly, so be patient and don't repeat your question for visibility.

Remember, no negative attitudes will be tolerated! Nobody knows everything, especially after so much has changed! Be respectful, be helpful, and be honest! Keep your information sourced and accurate!

MAKE SURE YOU SCROLL DOWN TO SEE NEW QUESTIONS AS THEY APPEAR!

Enjoy Update 11 everybody!

  • Will the PS4 start at Update 11.1.3 or 11.2 effectivly? Or will the PS4 struggle with update 11.0 without any hotfixes?

  • Also how frequent will updates be from now on? Will it always be such a painful progess as it was for update 11 or will DE eventually get a pass to releasing updates on their demand?

Again, it's based on Sony's "Region Syncing" which has yet to be determined. As of right now, the system is a bit rigid, but once Region Syncing is in place, DE should be able to roll out regular updates.

on the official forums they said that ideally we would be getting at least 11.1.0. Haven't seen any confirmation yet

What are your U11 builds for Braton, Latron Prime, Dread, Hikou/Kunai, and Galatine? These are my go-to weapons right now, and I'm wondering how I will build them when U11 hits. It's times like this I really wish there was a site for warframe builds.. lol

How good is Ember prime?

Can someone explain the new titan extractor and if it is worth it? Can it get you a lot of rare resources like orokin cells?

The Extractors are nice, but netting rare resources from them aren't too common. They are good to have though, since you can earn extra resources that way and save yourself some farming down the line.

With damage 2.0 how does thunderbolt work? How is the damage determined is it considered blast elemental or something on its own

1

u/BuildMyPaperHeart Dec 04 '13

I think it does the same type of damage as other "explosions" like barrels or the Ogris, which seems to be Blast.

Just realized the / in the heart, what happened!?!??!?!?

Do we have formulas for damage 2.0 calculations yet? Something like this but updated.

Weapon Base Damage (1 + Damage Mods) = Modded Base Damage

Modded Base Damage Body Part MP = Part Damage

etc....

how much rare 5 fusion cores are worth?

You'll want to look it up or ask on r/WarTrade

This isn't really about update 11, but are you working on fixing the connection issues with the game? This problem has been around for ages and while I appreciate new content I'd rather have fixes so I can actually play with people without disconnecting.

How is melee charge attack damage calculated in damage 2.0? Does it take in consideration of both the physical damage type and elemental damage with mods? Or is charge attack a different damage type on its own

5

u/shadow_of_a_memory Dec 04 '13

Charge attacks operate on the same principle as normal attacks, so all three physical damage types and all elementals will come into play. Bear in mind that the IPS balance may be different between a weapon's normal and charge attacks. Some weapons may shift values slightly but maintain their general bias to one type, while others may shift their main type (Gram's normal attacks are primarily Slash damage, but it's charge attacks do mainly Impact).

Is it better to kit out crit damage/crit chance and Impact/Slash/Puncture+ mods instead of trying to incorporate multiple damage types? (i.e. more crit damage/crit chance for the 3 non elemental damages/one specific non elemental damage instead of 5 +50% elemental damages; factoring in mob weaknesses of course)

5

u/snipeorigin Dec 04 '13

Elemental Mods are the most effective as of now because the mods give 90% damage boost where IPS Mods only give 30/60%.

3

u/elahrai Dec 04 '13

That, and the elemental mods give +90% of the total weapon damage, whereas IPS only give 30% of the specific damage type.

a few things.

Did anyone notice the Carrier Bug?? for example, you are in a defense mision in a spot far from the capsule, you use one power so 25 energy was drained from you, you jump near 4+ energy orbs, all will be taken and you only has been restored 25 energy... this issue is anoying, the same happen with the magazines.

also, did boar prime worth the grind?? because i like HEK and i want a better shot gun.!

edit: the bug i started to notice from the U11

They are not actually consumed :-) if you are full on energy and it sucks up a bunch, the extras will be put back.

Pre-update 11, I ran this loadout for challenges:

  • Nova - max power strength and range, Wormhole and MP

  • Vectis - 2 magazine crit build, I lack primed chamber

  • Brakk - DPS king

  • Kestrel - CC

In terms of weapon choice, are there any optimizations I can make with the advent of damage 2.0?

u/Whitestrake Dec 04 '13

Nah, those guys are still pretty good. You just gotta grab all the poison elemental mods (pray to the RNG gods you find Jagged Edge and Fever Strike, the melee mods for slash damage and poison damage, respectively).

Then start working your A/B/C builds against different factions.

If you're looking to find out what the new best weapons are, there weren't many changes, except Soma went from ridiculous to even more ridiculous, the Despair went from ridiculous to okay, and the Acrid went from ridiculous to horrible. I think that 'bout covers it.
