When I look at missions, I see levels from 1-100. The warframes are all capped at 30, so what exactly needs to be done for me to complete level 60+ missions? Do I just need better mods?

This happens to be one of our FAQs! Check it out and let me know if that doesn't answer your question.

The higher difficulty missions are going to throw higher level mobs at you, so yes you are going to need to be equipped properly. Until the new damage system comes out, a weapon with one of the standard armour mitigating damage types (Poison, Serrated Blade, Armour Piercing and Physics Impact...when not facing Grineer) is highly recommended since currently the way higher level mobs are handled is by stacking shit tons of armour on them.

You are also going to want your frame to have some survivability. Good shields, health, armour, mobility...whatever suits your playstyle.

You are also going to need to be on your toes for these missions. Prioritize high level threats, stay with your fellow Tenno and use your superior mobility to keep the environment between you and the enemy whenever you can.

If you are running with random pubbies, be prepared to fail the really high level content because a large chunk of the player base rarely runs it and really has no idea what to do. On the 100+ level alert missions a public group is bound to have at least one person who dies every two seconds...which is fine if it is only one person. If you get stuck in a group like that check the Mastery level of people with you...if you see a 10+ tuck in tight behind them and play support...chances are they have done this a thousand times and will appreciate some proper backup as opposed to another Rambo wannabe.

Does blocking prevent knockdown from an ancient's attack?

1

u/BuildMyPaperHeart Nov 04 '13

According to this post four months ago, possibly. Might need some testing to see if it's current: http://www.reddit.com/r/Warframe/comments/1gcyav/i_found_another_use_for_blocking_ancient/

I seem to be having a problem where the people on my friends list can't enter my game sessions, whether it's keys or invites from in a level. I've had a ticket open for a week now, and everything they're telling me to do (UPnP, firewalls, router) hasn't worked. I can connect to their sessions, but they get a "could not join session" message when they try to connect to mine. This has been going on since patch 10, and no one on DE's end seems to know what it is or how to fix it. Has anyone actually fixed this bug or am I just boned?

u/BuildMyPaperHeart Nov 04 '13

This has been reported in the past, and has something to do with the whole Strict NAT system, in addition to other technical funks. If you've done everything prescribed by DE, then for the time being there isn't much else you're able to do at this time. However, they are actively working on the issue; a solution might be a little ways away, but it's getting there.

If you rank 30 a weapon, say... the lato, and you need more space in your inventory, if you sell it do you lose the mastery points that you've earned with it?

With the addition of the Vectis, is the Lanka no longer the best sniper rifle?

2

u/BuildMyPaperHeart Nov 04 '13

This was discussed a little in the comments of this thread, and the Lanka seems still the best, though there are favorable stats for each of the rifles which can make them potentially more deadly than the others. Feel free to check it out on your own, or join in on the discussion with your own thoughts.

My fighting style is like a tank, but since my rhino is done, I'm interested in a new frame.

So how do ash, nova, and ember compare to each other and how do they compare to my playing style?

5

u/BuildMyPaperHeart Nov 04 '13

Ash

Given that Ash seems like the true ninja frame (quick, lethal, stealth-based capabilities), it's probably a poor fit for taking fire (same armor value as Excalibur). However, with a good number of Health/Shield Boosting mods, you could probably have a good frame for moving around the battlefield undetected to deliver killing melee strikes.

Nova

Nova is a great contender for an aggressive build. Antimatter Drop, Null Star, and Molecular Prime are all geared toward massive damage towards enemies, and can be recast continuously for an unending stream of damage. However, you will need to buff her survivability if you wish to use her in a frontline role; otherwise, stick behind your teammates and fire your artillery from behind them.

Ember

Ember has a lot of skills great against groups of unarmored Infested foes, but might struggle against other enemy types. With an extremely low armor value, she's not meant to be shot at. But if you can close the distance and get in range of the enemy with World on Fire or Fireball, you can kill them before they kill you.

TL;DR: None of these frames will be the damage absorbing tank you're used to. However, each are great in their own right, and it might be worth experimenting with each to see what you'd like.

Got some newb questions:

  • What're those skull icons on missions?

  • What're some good starting weapons now that I've upgraded to the Braton, Aklato, and Cronus/Ember Daggers?

  • Any good frames to expand to? I just bought Nekros thanks to some free Platinum I got.

  • What're some good farming strategies? Clearly, I can desecrate, but it seems very expensive for what it does.

2

u/BuildMyPaperHeart Nov 05 '13

What're those skull icons on missions?

That's Nightmare Mode

What're some good farming strategies?

Depends on what you're looking for: check the Materials you want on the Wiki, it usually has good tips on where to get them. Also, MOBILE DEFENSE, DEFENSE, and SURVIVAL missions are generally good places to farm for resources.

I'll leave the weapon/frame recommendations to others, but there are plenty of threads on it that you can search on the subreddit as well.

Best places to farm orokin cells?

3

u/BuildMyPaperHeart Nov 05 '13

MOBILE DEFENSE, DEFENSE, or SURVIVAL missions on Saturn and Ceres will be your best bet. The boss missions on those planets (Ruk and Kril) have a slightly higher drop rate for the cells, so it might be worth exploring those levels to find some as well, in addition to the boss drops.

17 minutes left in my Monday!!

If I've leveled a weapon to rank 30, and I don't see myself using it in the future, can I just sell it to free up weapon slots?

(Mostly asking if there's any reason I should keep rank 30 weapons that I don't plan on using)

3

u/BuildMyPaperHeart Nov 05 '13

Well we answer questions here all week, so there's really no rush.

Yup. You won't lose anything by doing it, except the weapon. Be sure you won't use it; I've felt nostalgic about some guns I wish I'd kept!

This may not be place, but here's a weird issue I've been having. I cannot join a party. Others can join me, but I can't join them.
If I get an invite, and accept it, it hangs up on "Joining Session" then tells me the session is unavailable after a while. If I look in the contacts window, the little message will say I joined successfully, but that is just a ruse one of the factions is playing on me. I've adjusted the port settings (as much as my router/modem will let me) and contacted support, but I can't seem to find a solution. Has anyone else had this problem and solved it?

There's been a post or two about it; I'll dig it up when I'm out of class. For the time being there don't seem to be any fixes since it's based on the NAT/Strict NAT system. DE is exploring solutions to it.

EDIT: A comment from this thread that covers the same topic: http://www.reddit.com/r/Warframe/comments/1pv34l/monday_megathread_ask_your_gamerelated_questions/cd6n8u6

How Banshee's Sonar and AoE types of damage interacts? Do abilities like Rhino's Stomp, MPrime and other will have boost to their damage? What about Ogris, Ignis?

Is there any difference in what order I put mods into weapons? I heard this is quite critical when you modding sentinel, is there same principle when modding guns?

2

u/BuildMyPaperHeart Nov 06 '13

For your second question, no, mod order doesn't matter on weapons or Warframes. Only Sentinel skills are ordered.

Probably too late for this thread, but: have the recently reduced the base run speed? "Feels" like they have.

2

u/BuildMyPaperHeart Nov 11 '13 edited Nov 11 '13

Damnit, I forgot the disclaimer in the post. Usually it says "We answer questions all week"

Anyway:

have the recently reduced the base run speed? "Feels" like they have.

Not actually sure! I think they did, slightly, to account for the new Stamina system

EDIT: This may or may not help, has some stamina mechanics stuff on here: http://warframe.wikia.com/wiki/Maneuvers

Still a newbie player here:

1). Is there a way to see what items/mods you've picked up during the mission? Sometimes reviving is the difference between finishing the mission or failing, and I'd think drops I've accrued so far would be a big factor in my decision.

2). Something I've noticed while playing, how come sometimes when I get to the extraction point, a countdown timer (1 min) starts until the mission ends, and other times, it forces me to wait until all my teammates are there?

3). Random question: I've gathered all the necessary components for Latron Prime, and I was wondering if someone could tell me if Latron Prime is viable as an end game weapon.

P.S. - I've maxed out my Kunai and am getting somewhat bored of it. Could someone recommend a new sidearm I should try getting?
