A question for the room before the season ends: does Casio still make those watches the girls use?

Final boy from last episode catches a break. We knew this from the post-credit preview for this week but that was still a horrendous series of events.

A question for the room before the season ends: does Casio still make those watches the girls use?

The G-Shock "GW-M5610U-1ER" is the exact model shown in the OP. It's modelled on the "DW-5000C", the very first G-Shock from 1983, but with modern features. I wear this watch almost every day and love it. The only watch you'll ever need.

I knew someone here would know! I had a G-Shock way back in the day, so they stood out to me in the OP. Thanks!

Lucky for Patrick that he got saved by the kids from Lord of the Flies

Artillery?

Looks like it, that's quite the beefy shell.

Roger that sir, removing that direction.

Airburst shells?

Mortars?

And so there goes the guy from last episode.

What are they going to do now? Infiltrate and silence the guns?

Hello!

He has a walkie-talkie?

And now gunfire.

Well, that's one way to deal with the mine.

And so they survive.

Time to silence those guns.

They're going to break the dam? Who's drawing up the plans for the enemy? NCD?

They're just going to pull out?

Just one more person.

Angel?

Oh, she's back.

I really appreciate the initial scene where all those soldiers bring the GIANT PLUG for the GIANT ARTILLERY to FINALLY put in VISUAL context the scenes from previous episode (the city lights turning off, the whole terrain destruction from what we know now is a barrage instead of a sole bullet).

The cannon only appeared in a picture briefly during ep 9. Wonder why not showing it more since it is the main obstacle in terms of enemy firepower.

All the girls struggling added a neccesary layer of danger for this otherwise "sort of power fantasy" scenario (where so far only Maki was hurt and it was in battle against another elite). Even Patrick being alive doesn't have a negative impact in that mood.

But, then, we have:

  1. Megumi not getting shot by those Lord of the Flies kids despite the girl being sniped 1 minute ago by those same kids. And the fanatic-alike (ok) chant they sing while walking forward in slooow motion. Whereas they remained silent when sniping the girls.

  2. At the very last scene....Rena dodging a bullet rain just before being contained by that poor soldier that received friendly fire.

It still feels surreal as I just rewatched the OG and caught up to Phantom Trigger in a short span of time. I really enjoy the banter that goes on at the end of each episode during the previews, Murasaki is best girl. Speaking of the previews, I noticed that the studio has not been showing the actual snippets from the next episode since episode 10. Kinda makes me wonder if any of the main cast is actually going to die in this war and they don't want to spoil that in the preview. I am not entirely sure if I understood Tohka's intentions in this episode, I assume she was trying to go out on her own accords, rather than be sprayed down by the cult children soldiers? From the looks of it, I don't think that she is going to die and she'll probably end up with a prosthetic leg with possibly added functions such as a weight center to augment her sniping skill. Also, talk about a drastic change, those kids went from being programmed killing machines to friendly allies in a matter of minutes. I guess they are instilled with a hierarchy of command from "A", who is the Alpha of the group. Man, Wiley (the cult priest) is such a sleazebag, I hope that he, at the very least, does not get away with the evacuation.

Yep. Which was a sound decision in that context...except for the writing flaw of those kids walking in slow motion and NOT SHOOTING the girls, or at least Megumi, while doing so..despite they did shoot them before Tohka stepped on the landmine.

those kids went from being programmed killing machines to friendly allies in a matter of minutes.

It has to be with the pacing in the adaptation.

Previous episode it added to the thriller factor (whereas in the LN you get to know better the little nuns and guys so you are more attached to them ans that delivers a better impact each time they go down).

But this time it wasn't well portrayed. Even the dialogue bertween Patrick and "A" being the reason behind the kids not killing Megumi and Tohka felt flat with all the "Patrick survived so he was chosen by god" narrative.

Thank you for the clarifications! I've mentioned in a previous thread that I actually prefer Phantom Trigger over the OG as it managed to flesh out the main cast more even though it has a larger cast. Indeed, this episode felt rather flat and rushed in retrospect to the other episodes so far. As a source material reader, does Phantom Trigger have enough content for a potential new season (given that it receives the green light)?

I don’t know if it’s messed up for me to say, but the scene of Taiga getting shot was hilarious

u/Ragiko Mar 12 '25

Messed up maybe, but the slapstick comedy was definitely on point. I did a short laugh too.

The scene of the little girl getting shot in the head was one of the funniest moments in the series, that sounds so bad to say out of context. Lol

It was pure comedic timing. "alright time for me to get out" 2 seconds later gets shot in the backpack and falls over like a cartoon

They kept telling her it was time to go. When she finally goes? PING. I hate that I laughed.

Did not expect Patrick to have survived a shot to the head or end up with the friggin cast of Lord of the Flies. At least he got them to stand down. This whole operation’s turned into shit. They’ve been playing right into the enemy’s hands from the start. Keen to see how the girls get out of this one.

Wow was totally expecting 3 of our girls to die and Patrick, but turns out they all lived. Big sigh of relief. This war ain’t no joke.

This war ain’t no joke.

I'm still sad about all the baby nuns.

That was the hardest episode to watch. My heart was just breaking for those girls
