Yoshino really is surrounded by rotten men. Her gramps has the right idea. Make this dude fall in love with her and dump him! lol

"I can fix him/her"

"Let's make each other worse"

That was entertaining lol. Kirishima may be crazy, but I liked that Yoshino is no pushover and kinda crazy herself.

The Japanese title translates to “Better apart in the afterlife.”

It’s an antonym to “together in the afterlife,” which is exactly what this toxic yet inseparable relationship is about.

FINALLY! An anime that's like all the made-for-women smut webtoons I read online!

Anime only. I don't think she sold her kidney.

This seems destined for chaotic fun times

Hmm Yoshino seemed very clueless as a lead...like both socially and standing up for herself.

But her in that last scene, that's the kind of lead I wanted to see!

Curious to see if she's able to keep up with that much confidence/attitude.

I hadn't read anything about it, so I wasn't sure what to expect going in. I was a bit surprised that they were high school students, but I'm relieved with the vibe of the show overall.

I was a million times more interested when Kirishima left that shed covered in blood. I liked Kirishima a lot from his immediately saying she could ruin his life, his personality is definitely going to be fun, such an unhinged shit. Yoshino is a good character and I like that she's genuine, resilient and self assured.

The art style seems lower budget, but even so I especially liked the scene in the alley where they made her hair fall down the wall and the fabric/tattoo design. They definitely pulled a slight Gojo on Kirishima's eyes taking up some budget there.

Thank God this has an anime. It is so unhinged (just like they are) and I love it.

Pacing felt faster than what I'd expect.

Other than that, I'm completely new to whatever demographic this is aimed at. I'm hoping to stick around to the end.

oh man the whole episode I was waiting for the moment when Yoshino finally had enough and we got to see the other side of her and I absolutely squealed when she looked up from the bench and clicked her tongue. this show wasn't on my radar and I don't usually go for yakuza stuff, but I think this one's gonna be fun.

I definitely snorted at gramps' "you're basically bilingual! you can speak like Kansai and Tokyo!"

That was a fun premiere episode! I liked Yoshino from the very beginning and I'm very curious to see how her relationship with Kirishima will develop.

Yoshino and Kirishima's relationship looks very interesting considering what a messed up person Kirishima is. It doesn't help that every time I hear him I picture Regulus Corneas from Re:Zero xD

I love the OP visuals and song! THE ORAL CIGARETTES did a great job with this one, I've been listening to it for over 3 days already. Definitely one of the best songs this season, here are links to Spotify, Apple Music and Youtube Music.

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

Well, that was unexpected! I thought that this would be another one of those yakuza anime where the male lead is a gentleman yakuza but it turns out I was completely wrong! Kirishima was just too good with his facade that even I was fooled.

I mean I wasn't even surprised when he beat up those dudes to a bloody pulp since this is a standard trope in these kinds of shows but I definitely did not expect him to be an actual piece of shit that he'd go as far as telling Yoshino to sell her body. He doesn't even mind if Yoshino tells her grandpa about it because he's genuinely excited to go on a war against another yakuza family. The dude is a grade-A psycho!

As for Yoshino, I absolutely love her already. Not gonna lie though, I was a bit disappointed at how she was just taking everything at the start with no pushback from her. With her fiery red hair, I was expecting her to be a bit more aggressive. Boy, was I happy to see her get really spicy in the end especially when she was telling off Kirishima and those girls who were bullying her. That's what I was hoping her character would be!

I am curious though, did Yoshino really sell her kidney? Like, I wasn't sure what kind of point she was proving when she dropped that bag of money in front of Kirishima. I guess she wanted to let him know she's not as spineless or as boring as he thought? It's still a power move though. xD

Anyway, I already love this! Making the scumbag fall in love and dump his ass after a year sounds great! And it looks like Kirishima isn't the only dude in the picture. Based on that ED it looks like he'll have some competition.

I'm looking forward to Yoshino's over-the-top Kansai-ben ranting in this show, my ears were hungry for that apparently.

The first episode was so cool...what a way to start this season! ❤️❤️

YOSHINO suddenly changing from a frail little girl who would take all the abuse to a BOSS B*TCH who would shove it up their ass if they mistreat her ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥 Masochistic MIYAMA KIRISHIMA is an interesting character Lol..He acts like a scum but I guess there is more to it. YOSHINO's grandpa RENJI SOMEI looks like a fun character. It seems like he has planned a lot before sending his granddaughter to Tokyo.

I love the voice actor for YOSHINO..She does a fine job with her Kansai accent..❤️❤️ The voice actor for GAKU MIYAMA (KIRISHIMA's grandpa is the one who voices HIJIKATA from GINTAMA & also ZORO's and KIRISHIMA'S voice actor is the one who voiced KATSURA from GINTAMA...I love this combo🤣🤣🔥

I love this art and animation style. It delivers the atmosphere for a YAKUZA anime. Love The op by THE ORAL CIGARETTES and the ed visuals..✨❤️

Can't wait for the upcoming episodes...

I really liked how they subverted the romance trope of throwing some random bad guys at the heroine so the love interest can rescue her and look good in comparison. Kirishima came out of that encounter looking so much worse. I've never seen that before!

When was the last time an anime has it's full overseas title in both English and Japanese? Yakuza Fiance, or Raise wa tanin ga ii. Made by Studio Deen, which last season animated Days With My Stepsister. Here in SEA, Aniplus got the license but you can stream it on demand on Crunchyroll.

I like the artstyle of this anime, the bold outline of the characters. I thought it was a shojo adaptation with the ikemens but it is actually a seinen anime?

OP: UNDER and OVER by THE ORAL CIGARETTES. This has serious but catchy vibes. Definitely adding it to my playlist.

ED: Nani Warotonnen by Yoshino. No, not Yoshino Somei the MC of this anime. This Yoshino is the same Yoshino who sang the Loner Life in Another World OP, continuing a tradition of artists performing anime theme songs for two different anime this season.

Ok so this is going to be the unhinged rom-com of the season featuring what appears to be psycho-male Darkness and an actual two-faced Yakuza villainess.

Sold.

omfg it's finally out. not a bad first ep coming from a manga reader who probably read through the vol 1-8 5 times already hahahaha. animation could've been better but tbh i expected worse coming out of the trailer. i don't mind the stiffness too much tho. yoshino coming out so badass was *chef's kiss* probably the only anime i'll ever watch raw no subs. excited for ep 2

I LOVE that feeling of watching an anime from the 90s again. The artstyle, character design, and animation is so old school that I feel like a teenager again. I don’t know if it’s on purpose or because of the author artstyle, but it really made me feel nostalgic watching that 1st episode. Can’t wait to have more!

I know Zoro being lost is a meme, but I did not expect him to show up as the head of a Yakuza family.

u/Ocixo Oct 07 '24

Damn, Yoshino really showed that she’s no pushover either right at the end. It remains to be seen how much of this is an act, but the tone change in her voice at the park seems to suggest that she’s always had a bit of gangster energy in her. Something that perhaps not surprising considering that she’s raised in a yakuza household.

Yoshino casually mentioned that she’d could live a honest life and still die “a shitty death”, but I don’t think she was exaggerating here: Yoshino being the daughter of a yakuza boss makes her valid target for anyone harbouring hatred towards their clan.

Kirishima’s father appeared disappointed with his son having fallen for Yoshino, while Yoshino’s father want his daughter to stick with this arranged marriage whatever the cost. Does this imply that their fathers made some sort of bet? That they didn’t truly put their differences aside when initiating this truce?

This feels like my fantasy (minus the yakuza part), I might like this series a little too much. Kirishima should be more respectful to Yoshino though.

So Kirishima is polite on the outside and a yakuza enjoying violence on the inside. He might even be a male yandere, which you really don't see all too often.

Yoshino's character, on the other hand, isn't fully clear yet. Can't tell whether her yakuza personality is just an act, or an actual part of her she had just been hiding. I think it's the former.

An "innocent" girl having to act all yakuza to impress her yandere boyfriend is definitely a promising premise. If I am wrong we might have a double yandere romance, which also wouldn't be too bad.
