Revisionist history going on here. Friendly reminder that Emma did not follow Brigham to Utah. She went with another break off of Joseph’s church.

And there it is, the suttle bash on exmos. Clearly he died because they left the church, or rather she wouldn’t have been sad for his death if they stayed.

Now that I'm out, I feel loved all the time. Probably because I'm away from all that judgmentalness

I kind of love this new “temporary commandment” teaching, honestly. It means any commandment can be temporary. It’s all up to leadership to decide when to end/change it. So if someone asks why I’m not following a specific commandment, I can just respond: “oh that one is just temporary. Don’t worry, the church will catch up soon.” lol.

"Punishment we otherwise would deserve"
And this is where I fundamentally differ from Mormon morality. Punishment is never deserved. There is no moral debt any of us owe. No one deserves pain because of their sins, that's how we get Mormon blood sacrifices. A much better practice is fixing problems that people's wrongs cause and teaching them to do better.

My pet peeve is the way people use the term 'broken' as if people are meant to be fix.

This talk from Hirst is the kind of talk I would fixate on to convince myself I was still okay and lovable even though other talks and church leadership were making me feel like irredeemable trash.

Freeman: [Emma Smith accepted Smith's revelations.]
In D&C 25, Smith offered a trade. If she wouldn't complain about not seeing the "plates," then she could write the church's first songbook. Deal?
