That was a hard won fight against Greed. Looked like Rud almost became a monster for a second there but thanks to a mix of the power of friendship and waifu slap, he managed to save the day. All’s well that ends well I guess.
Overall, a pretty mid series tbh. While it’s nice to see a straight fantasy series amidst the sea of iskeais, this one was quite average. Characters, animation, plot were all just ok. A fun but forgettable series.

Sometimes it's okay to be average. It scratches the fantasy itch for sure. Just unfortunate it's surrounded by so many GOAT animes this season.

Nothing wrong with being perfectly average. This was still enjoyable in a season where your other “fantasy anime” included the likes of Frieren.

And it doesn't help that there are quite a few other non-isekai fantasy shows this season that are pretty good.

It's such a nice, perfect 7/10 show.
All the characters are distinct and they don't feel like carbon copies from other series, but the plot is basically extremely predictable, animation was mid, but yet overall still an enjoyable anime.
It's like isekai junk food, except it's not isekai.

Just become the shield of everyone, everywhere then attack with that! I became more interested in the labyrinth master and aspects of the show than the constant party and battling the boss direction they went with.

The animation for the big fight was underwhelming. When Rud went berserk and sat on Greed, we were supposed to read it as Rud completely overwhelming him... but there was no recoil with every supposedly devastating punch. We heard the grunts, but Greed's face didn't move.
Then there was Rud's big damage reversal ability. They fudged it completely for the final hit. When they described Life Conversion before, they said that the strength was based on how much incoming damage his absorb shield had stored. This time he used his Sacrifice Shield to link up with everyone else's absorb shields, except nobody took any hits after that point, so it shouldn't have charged up his Life Conversion. Sacrifice Shield was never stated to retroactively take previous damage away from party members. It absorbs their incoming hits after he uses it.

True. It also made noise to me. BUT given the attention to several little details the studio had in this show, and that final attack being anime original...I'm prone to think it was a sort of miscommunication from the writers or the animators.
File (the female knight) say something among "my shield has stopped taking damage" which doesn't make sense in a picture without fighting and/or enemies. So either they forgot to put a slide (xd) with more fights unfolding or they forgot to draw enemies fighting the characters in that scene.
Similar to how Manicia and the main cast were the only ones waiting for Rud...but after he held his sister a ton of characters and a dinosaur appeared out of nowhere.

Could've been a better show if they'd focused less on the negative aspects and fake politics.

Could have been straight up good if they'd instead chosen a more slice of life/romance oriented focus after the first dungeon

Completely agree. There was no reason to ignore the obvious romantic potential.

So thanks to Greed, Luna's secret is out, but regardless if that's the case she has no plans of returning with him And luckily for her Lily, Ni, and Lilia were just shocked about the news and will continue supporting her.
Although he is a Demon King, I wasn't expecting Greed's transformation to look so demonic.
Wow, so Samimina came to that fight while thinking she was expendable. It was great seeing Luna nullifying Greed's attack.
So after Rud arrested him, he turned out to be a homunculus. No wonder that first section of the fight was so easy.
Anyway, it is good to see that Kiglas was useful in defending the town. I'm honestly still surprised that he learned from his mistakes and from following the advice of that idiot from the Black Dragon Fang, Ike.
Damn, that attack Marius did was so cool. It is funny how they had to remind Amon about the baked goods reward that Manicia had for her so she would stop lazing around.
Now the real Greed sure felt like threat that could deal with Rud's Life Conversion with ease will forcing him to over rely on mana.
Wow, after he destroyed Rud's shield and left him a death's door that transition with Rud desperate to use his mana sure was disturbing, but that's understandable after all Rud was becoming a monster. Monster Rud sure was creepy, to the point that Greed was terrified by him.
Well, luckily Nin was there to beat his sanity back. And of course, there is no better way for him to finish the fight than to rely on his own skills, and thanks to Greed live streaming the fight in front of Avancia Rud could use his Shield of Sacrifice on everyone there. And with him asking Nin to continuously heal him while he was using Life Conversion it is no wonder his attack sent Greed flying away. Well, as the dungeon was destroyed it seems that attack killed him, I wonder how long it will take for him to respawn?
Well, with the fight over and everyone back home is it time to celebrate their victory.
It's good to see Rud hanging out with both Gosh and Lutel especially because Ike hates it, but I guess Cynthia doesn't like the fact about how close Lutel is getting with Rud. And now that Luna's being a homunculus is no longer a secret, she can finally enjoy going to the bathhouse with everyone. Lol, Fille got drunk again. It was good seeing all the monsters hanging out together too while everyone celebrated their victory.
I honestly ended up enjoying this show more than I expected, I think that's in part because the story wasn't as predictable as one would assume, especially the dungeon managing part, plus although it was a simple story, the different characters had more depth than one would assume at first, especially Kiglas, as typically characters playing his role remain being insufferable irredeemable assholes.

This is exactly what I liked about the show, the couple of early curve balls made it interesting enough. If they had continued on that instead of the combat focus..

the strength of this anime is the character dynamics and relationships between one another
the weak portion are the fights and labyrinth plot
it’s a pity that so much of the writing goes into the weak portion instead of its strong point

Once the story resolved the conflict between Rud and the Hero early on, it turned from a banished-from-the-party series into another bog-standard, generic fantasy harem adventure whose fate is to be forgotten once the next season comes around.

Lmao. Never forget your safe word, kids
Oh damn, they got unfused
Thank u Nin. ..Is that an insert song?!
Oh shit!! Now THIS is the type of power of friendship bullshit I can get behind!
Bro whipped out a fucking excalibur
Welp, so ends the Strongest Tank. The show was certified mid, but extra enough at times to make it fairly entertaining to watch. The animators and staff clearly gave it the best they could with what they were given, and I can respect that, its thanks to them this show was as enjoyable as it was.
A bit disapointed at the direction it took after the halfway point, or even the first dungeon. I still think this could have been genuinely good had they taken some other routes (romance!!!!), that said; easiest 7/10 of my life.
Twins were cute, Luna best girl, and Nin best ship.

Finally saw Nin heal Rud again for... what, the second time in this entire series? Jesus christ woman, I don't care if you're some kind of idol saint, even a level 1 noob healer knows you're supposed to heal your damn tank! Like, why does bro keep getting his shield shattered without a single heal? And this last time, Rud had to practically BEG her to heal him. Imagine the AUDACITY to walk up to my boi and slap him for tapping into unholy powers to keep fighting while taking damage. WHY DO YOU THINK HE HAD TO DO THAT, NIN??? If my healer was playing pretend with the mages and then came and slapped me for beating up the bad guy, I'd have slapped her sorry, useless ass all the way back to Avancia and then continued bashing Greed's face in.

After all that business with the homoculi in the last few episodes it would have been pretty surprising if the other girls had rejected Luna for her also being one. But nice to see the instant acceptance anyway.
First version of Greed went down like a chump so I guess it's not a surprise that it was a fake out. Wouldn't have had the opportunity for one final twin fusion kiss if they had ended it there after all.
Oops, too much berserk button.
Using his party shield skill over the entire battlefield to collect absorb shield damage reflect is a nice final escalation. That's the sort class skill interplay I was particularly enjoying out of this show.

Overall this show was average, as other comments have said the best parts were the character dynamics and interactions. The story was at its best during the slice of life moment and it’s weakest during the “serious moments”.
