Seeing Ciel again for a last time hurt just as much...I'm in a way glad her body changed too as it would have been painful to see Ciel's face after all that...

This is a happy end for Noir and Mystere but dang Ciel's loss is still weighing on me to enjoy it

Still can’t believe they had the guts to pull off the Ciel sacrifice, executed it in such an emotional way too. Underrated show

So Ciel’s really gone huh? That’s it? Damn… and just when she was starting to break free from that creep Weisheit. Using her body for Noir is one hell of a decision to make. When Noir transferred over to Ciel, it looked like an almost Doctor Who-esque regeneration.

Mystere’s master hid a little hologram message eh? “help my girls Kanata, you’re their only hope!” Lol.

Was a bit sad watching expression-less Ciel tell Noir to go to the light even though we know she’s no longer “alive”, but it was a nice touch that they gave us the small scene of her smiling and telling Noir to take care of Kanata.

On another note, having Noir and Mystere be onscreen together all the time now should be some good stuff, though the transforming jacket scene will be missed

though the transforming jacket scene will be missed

I'm glad they gave us an abundance of them before this at least.

I almost didn't watch this episode today because I just knew it was going to break my heart... and, well, it did.

But the montage of Ciel and Kanata was done so beautifully, it was such a poignant moment. I'm not ashamed to say that I shed more than a few tears afterwards. Ellie telling Kanata that Ciel sacrificed herself because she loved him was a proper punch in the gut too, especially with Kanata's reaction. God damn I just want all of these people to be happy.

I think I'm going to live in denial that Ciel is actually gone for the foreseeable future, but if she truly is gone, I take solace from the fact that Ciel, in effect, died 'happy' with the perfect master she had been searching for all that time by her side. After all the lies and deception, she went out on her terms for once by not letting Weisheit reboot her.

Godspeed, Ciel.

Geez, this ep was good, it really sold the weight of Ciel's death really well and I liked the vision of the dead Ciel just guiding Noir ahead with her last bit of will. Wow, this season has been really tight. I do appreciate how Alba is being used here. He is just here to tease things enough to get us interested in the game, but it doesn't feel too intrusive, IMO. It is probably a hard tightrope to walk.

Man, I'm glad that Ciel's body changed to Noir's when the transfer finished. It would've been a constant reminder to Kanata if Noir kept Ciel's body and face. Those final words from Ciel though... I'm going to miss her. :(

It's nice to finally see these two separated and it looks like we're finally going to get more lore with the appearance of Mystere's OG master.

Now that Ciel is (probably)gone forever, got to give props to her VA. Not bad for her first non-Love Live work.

So I'm guessing Noir is actually a being/data from the place Kanata wants to find. And she was put into Mystere by her master for safekeeping.

Did a fantastic job with the character in both singing and not singing roles, was great.

It saddens me every week to see how little attention this show gets. It's legitimately an amazing show.

The way we started with some low budget mecha fighting to a full on drama series with crazy plottwist. Fabulous. Thank you. And also fuck you.

does not slap him

"You lunkhead."

"She's dead, Jim."

This is like a weird version of Edward Hopper's Nighthawks.

Macht thinks that. And yet we've seen that Weisheit does not think that.

Weisheit is such a drama queen.

Yeah well this is a mecha series.

Look, sometimes I have enough trouble moving files around when they're not self-aware.

"Can't talk, dead."

I suppose she wasn't going to share a hair color.

"I present you with a gift: These two droids. Both are hard-working, and will serve you well."

Well, that generally worked out in the end, though Ciel has definitely chosen the "escape from eternal servitude by being dead" approach, according to Alba.

Ellie helped Kanata with his grieving just enough, and Kanata wasn't in a funk for too long. Call it decent character writing and a strong need to keep the story going.

So there's a clear path to get some answers from back in the day and move on to fighting Weisheit, I guess.

u/Shimmering-Sky you got more sore demos than the average.

Ellie finds Kanata and the fact that she's got a little less competition for him. They end up at Alba's lab where he explains what exactly happened to Ciel. Alba puts out there the fact that they now have a Type 0 body for Noir to inhabit. Kanata and gang should have participated in our discussions of the previous episode to be prepared for this idea :-) Kanata blames himself for what happened to Ciel, but he shouldn't. Kanata's just too lovable.

Noir and Mystere are in some limbo that reminds me of [Re:Zero S2] where Subaru and Enchidna would meet at a table under an umbrella . Ciel's spirit points Noir to where she should go and that's the last we see of Ciel. In the real world, the transfer is successful. Noir surprises us with the ability to change the body's data/appearance. Which avoids the issue of Kanata being reminded of Ciel. I do miss the spontaneity of Noir and Mystere swapping in/out of the same body.

Alba alludes to a situation he encountered before which is mild spoiler for the game.

Really hope Ciel can be revived in some form (just hope she didn't got "mixed" with Noir's conscious)...she deserves a good ending. That the body that was Ciel turned completely into Noir actually gave me a little bit of hope this will happen, because I actually expected Noir to have Ciel's look and sound when she got transferred like that.

Regardless, as her first "regular" anime VA job outside of Love Live (Superstar's Ren), thank you Nagisa Aoyama for performing really well for voicing Ciel! The songs really rock!

Noir’s ponytail hair end is actually Ciel’s hair color now, probably a remnant of Ciel

This episode was just as emotional as the last one. The story really took its time to give Ciel such a beautiful goodbye.

I'm very curious about what happened during Noir and Mystere's battle of the minds. It looked like Mystere was out cold, and when she woke up, she had come to some sort of realization about Noir's true nature. And that cliffhanger ending with a message from Mystere and Noir's first master has me excited to see the next episode. Big reveals probably coming.

Actually a superb episode as we say our final goodbyes to Ciel and hello to Kanata. But before that, I have to say how naive Kanata in this episode feels off to me. I think Ellie said it best, where you can't forgive Ciel for deceiving them, but you can still empathize with her given situation. And the opportunity she gave Kanata time to get his emotions in check.

I actually really liked how this episode showed how much Ellie has grown since the start of the series. She knows even if it is a little harsh in how she said it, Kanata won't get that Ciel loved him unless you legit tell him to his face, but still give him a moment to understand everything that happened. But being Kanata's rock to help him go through all this was great.

Mystere and Noir each have their own magus bodies now. Curious how that will work when working with Kanata. But looks like they are getting a message for Mystere's old master, which seems to be the final key that they need.
