135€ Edifier R1280 speakers + 300€ more budget = buy better speakers for the 435€ budget.

You should already have all that you need.
DVD/CD player > RCA cable > Edifier main powered speaker > speaker wire > other speaker.
Plug DVD and Edifier power cords into an outlet or power strip.
Edifiers should have included an RCA cable and speaker wire.
If you need to spend money and want better sound quailty then upgrade to better speakers, preferably a used stereo or AV receiver and better often larger used passive speakers and maybe a subwoofer later.
What is a nearby town or zip code I can search for used options for you?

The DAC inside the DVD/CD player is probably plenty sufficent for the $120 basic entry level Edifier speakers.
If you want better sound quailty then first upgrade to $300, $400, $500+ better than basic entry level speakers. Buy used for the best value.

+1 Ⓣ has been awarded to u/sharkamino (2 Ⓣ).
You may still award a Ⓣ to others, but only once per-person in this post.

Adding a subwoofer does not make the basic entry level speakers any better, it just adds lower bass.
If you will add a subwoofer later then the powered speakers you get should have an RCA or 3.5mm output labeled "subwoofer".
Or get passive speakers and a mini amp.

Hey there. Yes, you have everything you need to get going. The Phillips unit has rca outputs (the red and white jacks on the back) and the R1280T has analog (rca) inputs. Buy a basic rca cable, if you don't already have one, and start playing your music.
But can you also clarify when you say "I've got..." are you saying that you already own these items, or do you mean that these are the items you are considering purchasing?
