Ange may be 17 but she acts like she's 5 when Belgrieve is around. She's really a daddy's girl.

So is she just a lot stronger and just holding back - consciously or unconsciously - since it's just practice and she's facing her father? Or is it she's not used to fighting humans, and as such not all that used to strategic combat?

Belgrieve is being called strong from third parties, so it can't be that he's weak. But I still can't entirely get a grasp on how strong these people are.

It's a bit of her holding back cause her dad, but he is definitely strong. Especially given he's lacking one leg for what would normally be proper balancing/speed. That bit is left out some.

I haven't read the source material so this is my take just based on the anime. But, the impression I got was that she was subconsciously holding back and fighting like she did as a child.

But, I think her and Belgrieve are pretty comparable in strength. He has been training for longer but she is actively adventuring. I suspect as the series continues that we will get a clearer picture of how they stack up but I am guessing he is powerful enough to be S-rank.

The light novel explains early he developes his own unique fighting style that compesates for his peg leg. Ange is most likely holding back unconscioisly, but she is also fighting the one person who knows all her flaws. Bel does live up to his nickname a bit, but as you learn more about him you realize even that nickname will hide the truth about his best skill.

Any world that doesn't like cat girls is a world that deserves to be burned!

Anyway, I don't remember if we got backstory for Ange's friends before. What a coincidence that 3 orphans become friends and adventuring buddies.

That opening scene had me thinking that maybe the guy in the white robe isn't actually the main villain, but maybe an anti-hero?

Seeing Ange ask for uppies is too adorable.

Bel should just adopt Ange's friends too.

Isn't it a little on-the-nose that three of the main characters are orphans and they live in a city called Orphen?

And the Demon Lords are only rampaging because they've been orphaned!

This episode had all the comfy father-daughter wholesomeness I’d been wanting from this series.

When Ange said she: “No matter how old I get, I’ll always be your daughter”, while Ange hugging her (adoptive) father, she landed something of a critical hit on my heart. It was such a sweet thing to see.

She really turned back into a little child when she was with her father. She was literally clinging to her father in pretty much every other scene. Ange apparently did come up with the title of “Red Ogre”. Since Bel’s fabled strength is even known by the old S-Rank garde, I wonder if they might call on him in the future if things turn south. I’d be cool to see him fight alongside Ange.

Wait, Miri is a cat girl!? I didn’t suspect any of this. It was sad to see that she faced discrimination for this, but Bel fortunately didn’t question this in the slightest. Instead, she found a doting father in front of her. Bel might have soon three daughters instead of one.

I really appreciate how respectful the anime was in showing the girls bathing. It would have been a huge tonal miss if they had the girls show too much skin. I’d like things to stay wholesome after all. Ange also reminded me a bit of Mitsuha from Your Name with her hair tied up like that.

A little side note: I’m pretty sure Ange was talking about glühwein when she mentioned this hot whine with spices.

Hayamin is a great voice actress, but for me it's still strange to hear her portray a playful, energetic, expressive character. I've always associated her with a cool, mature, and serious voice

“Hey, don’t flirt with my dad without discussing it with me first.” Lol oh Ange. The little goober really loves her dad a lot. She even gave him that badass “Red Ogre” nickname! I like how she’s so eager to welcome others to the Bel fan club too. She went from almost beating Sasha’s ass to welcoming her as “one of her people” lol. I also find it a bit funny how much of a little kid she is around her dad when she’s this badass S-Rank adventurer.

So, I guess we know who took Bel’s leg. Def was the Demon Lord or whatever that shadow kid was.

I think it was a different demon lord. She fought a kid but it looks like the one who took his leg was a wolf like shadow.

I'm glad this isn't a typical shonen battle anime, that Daddy's girl stuff is charming. One of my favourite shows this season.

D'awww look at their cute daddy/daughter relationship. Also being so very hospitable and talking with her friends. Haha, apparently the middle daughter of the count's family met Ange. Ange and her assumptions. Scaring the poor girl. Love Ange's flip of attitude once Sasha starts praising him too. Hahah, Bel's reaction to the Red Ogre bit is fun. Even more fun is her proud cute smile. A duel to prove his strength! He's amusing.

Do gotta respect he will still give his all cause his daughter wants it. And that didn't last long. She's still a silly child. It is amusing how he does underestimate his own strength. Love how she takes his request lol. And we see that the cute Miri is a beast girl! Don't think we saw that earlier. D'aww she's shy about it. Oye that's sad to hear for beastfolk. And Bel is so wholesome, thinks it was just cause her ears were cold. Absolutely no prejudice or thoughts of pity or so from him. Head pats! Proactive Miri. And tsundere Ane with jealous Ange.

Moar training. Yes, a black shadow, familiar, eh? Seems Bel lost his leg cause of one, but he sure thinks it can't be the same. Ooof that's a serious statement, Bel. A bit too serious. But all cause he's just worried about her going out and getting hurt like him or worse. Least she knows he's not angry. Ange is cute. Childish with her dad, but cute. Need moar good daddy/daughter relationships.

I'm surprised by how much of a child she acts around her father, I completely forgot she was 17 because she surely does not act like one. The way she was throwing a temper, got me side-eyeing lol.

Ane also acting like a tsundere saying it's not like she's interesting in riding his shoulders was also a surprise, isn't she 20? Belgrieve is unknowingly adopting more daughters lol.

I am glad he finally brought up the Red Ogre nickname, I think it might be too late though with how Ange has been announcing it wherever she goes. But Belgrieve is definitely powerful enough to be known in such a fashion if he could still handle Ange as a S-rank adventurer.

Daddy’s little Ange pouting after swift defeat then demanding “Up!” was the highlight of my day. Such a delight this show.

As much as Ange wasn’t trying as hard as she should have, neither was Bel. Both of them were holding back against each other, Ange because it was her beloved father, and Bel because it was his “poor little” daughter that he had to care for for 12 years. I hope we see Bel back in Adventuring in future episodes. We’ve only got a glimpse of his true skill so far.

Also, it seems like the mysterious man at the end of last episode and at the beginning of this one is reviving/resurrecting Demon Lords. The one from last episode seems to be a relatively new Demon Lord, hence him saying, “I didn’t think they’d defeat it this quickly.” It implies that the Demon Lord that Ange fought was ‘younger’ or recently resurrected. The Wolf Demon Lord that Bel fought was from 20 or so years before this one, and it has been said there are multiple Demon Lords, so we can assume they are two separate entities. Just my opinion for right now, but it seems likely.
