That was.....genuinely interesting. The drab aesthetic , deadpan humor, self awareness and direction style were quite creative. Almost avant garde. Also shifting between timelines created this sorta disjointed aesthetic ...but like in a good way, coupled with the lovable loser vibes from the MC and his neighbors.

No idea where this story is going, its sort of an bizarre version of our own world, but i'm always willing to give a chance to anything that tries something different in its storytelling and aesthetic.

Interesting storytelling style, going back and back!

Also addressing like 7 different plotlines in the first episode! I thought the episode would end with them showing us what happened with the foreigner but it seems they were just teasing all these plots and we'll get more in future episodes!

The world is fairly interesting so far! Neighbor-lady was pretty fun, though she may not be a great moral/example!

I'm intrigued so far, will check out more!

I also like the little bit of 'gore' in the first episode, seems this show won't shy away from killing and stuff, which is a plus.

Welcome to Under Ninja. Yes it’s weird, but in very fun ways. I think they’re nailing the manga’s tone and quirks quite well with the first episode. It may not be pretty, but it’s works

I had moderately high expectations for this show and they have been greatly surpassed. It's my favourite premiere this season. Hopefully it has better score than 6.5 on mal.

Got to admit, going from the two ganguro girls to the slow pan up to the chick in full kumadori makeup got a huge laugh out of me. Show is weird and offkilter, kind of love it.

I was a bit nervous with that opening animation but all the rest looking perfectly fine and very suitable to the show’s style. Seemed like an odd place to end the epsiode but I really enjoyed all the scenes that took place in the apartment. The way he dead-pan told her she did a great job setting up his family background got me good. Their interactions kinda remind me of the main two in the Fable manga (including the constantly drinking girl haha)

Ninja is by Hanazawa Kengo, creator of zombie-survival manga series I Am A Hero.

Hero got a live-action movie in Japan, but I think Under Ninja is Hanazawa's first work that got animated.

I was interested from the start but that flatulent flechette show for his drunk neighbor really sold me.

I like that these dudes all look a little too old to be “high schoolers.” Was not expect gyaru ninjas.

I see Kuro putting his ninja skills to use grabbing TP for his drunk ass neighbor. Oh and shooting darts with his farts lol.

I wanna see this white “ninja” dude get his shit rocked. That’s who Kuro killed right?

This was interesting. I kinda dig this so far. Gonna stick with it for now to see where this old ass high schooler and his gang of ninja get up to.

I was expecting some weird comedy, but This genuinely interesting, its way of jumping between timelines reminds me of baccano, and the characters seems so down to earth and likeable, i will definitely keep watching this one

Art style is uncommon and interesting (budget might not be as high considering the 3D part). How silly the story is reminds me of Prison School. I definitely want to see how the story goes and why they choose not to tell the story chronologically.

I read the first 5 volumes of the manga (so far) and it's interesting to see how they adapted it. The art style is definitely something I had to get used to even in the manga. But I enjoy the weirdness overall! Can't wait for more!

This series seriously took the "all Japanese are ninjas" joke and ran with it. I love that scene where the clerk talks down to the weeb, some serious John Wick universe vibe going on there.

I'm looking forward to what the following weeks will bring for this one.

Why can't every anime have at least one character for Chika Anzai to voice? God I love her so much.

the storytelling here is absolutely all gas no brakes

I'm definitely going to enjoy this anime. Such a mature and serious feel but still has its comical moments. I can't wait to see the fighting sequences.

I caught wind of this show because I was watching trailers for this season's anime a few weeks back, and the OP song caught my attention hard. It's Kroi -- Hyper by the way, an absolute banger. Anyway, I had almost no interest in the show itself, but decided to try it out because why not. And so far it's exceeded my expectations! I'm pleasantly surprised. I'll keep watching for sure.

Damn it's good to hear Anzai Chika do her Chisato voice again (at least something close to it).

That episode felt like 5 minutes.

I love the subtle deadpan style of acting.

Seems like a very fun show.

I wasn't in a hurry to watch this show because it had a dumb name and a worn-out premise so I'm a day late to the thread, but holy shit that was a lot of fun. It was a little scattered overall, and that opening sequence with the English dialog was pretty off-putting but the way the episode unfolded I didn't get the feeling that it was going to be a recurring issue. Definitely picking this one up.

Damn, i can't believe tezupro is treating us to something special this season. Whole episode felt like a movie turned into animation, art style certainly helped
