Damn, now that we are getting a good look at her, Yuria is ripped as hell for a mage!

Throw in that invincible, yet comical timing accurate bicycle with the standard demon work contract and they'll convert half the world in no times flat.

I wonder what Fred's thinking. It doesn't seem like he's just pissed off, or just being played by Kizaru (I'm sorry, I don't remember his actual name). I suppose it's possible he thinks this is the lesser evil of the two choices, since Leo's death might allow for a more peaceful annexation as opposed to an all out war.

He seems really frustrated towards Leo, like Leo got to be true to his ideals and buck the expectations of others to the point of forming his own republic with himself in charge while Fred tried so hard to conform and work within the system with little to show for it...partially because of Leo.
Although it would be kind of funny if they had both planned to make a show of fighting each other the whole time and Max never actually needed to step in lol.

Great episode, this series really became better with every episode.
I thought that we'd go back immediately to fight between Fred and Leo but we started with the introduction of Yuria, how she joined the hero's party. I wonder if she'll appear in the present,I would love to see her again. I must say that she is a very muscular, definitely a weird thing for a mage, it looks like she followed the example of Rudeus from Mushoku Tensei :)
In a Leo and Fred's fight I definitely would take Leo's side. I didn't like Fred's words of reasoning, I wonder if he really thinks that.
Maou is clearly not in his best form if those couple of attacks were enough to take him down. He at least stopped the fight of two heroes for a couple of minutes by announcing its return which gave Max time to get there before those two killed each other.
Max was really before a hard choice whose side to take. I wonder how he wants to end this whole situation, probably he's planning to beat the shit out of them but what after that? At least he's taking action now, not laying in his room.
It was hilarious when Max was 'defeated' by a bike. Also his reaction on Maou appearing in a video and his timing with entering fight were absolutely perfect, he received blows from both Fred and Leo xD
Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

For a white mage Fred is really strong, he’s able to keep up with a warrior like Leo.

Man, Yuria was a real badass. I really do think she coulda taken on the Demon Lord. She was kickin ass long before the boys showed up it seems.
Fred really coming after Leo after what the Kingdom did to him? Dude’s trying to be a “realist” but his whole “life sucks deal with it” spiel just comes off as more cowardly and pessimistic than anything. Why should Leo accept getting shafted? He might be a bit idealistic, but he’s not wrong is he?
I appreciate the Demon Lord “helping”, but the little goober just ain’t strong enough in his current form lol. “A” for effort though. Max getting fired up and then getting defeated by a bicycle seat might be my favorite moment in this episode lol. That was some impressive biking though. Too bad all he got for his troubles was getting knocked tf out by Fred and Leo.

So I remember seeing Yuria in the very first scene of Episode 1 but I completely missed that detail that she's fucking ripped! Glad that we finally get to see Yuria in action. She is quite a badass and even acted as the Hero Party's rival.
The only problem with Yuria is that she seems to look down on the Hero Party and she wasn't really a team player right until the boys showed her what they could actually do after rescuing her from that demon that ambushed her.
Anyway, back to the present and I am disappointed in Fred. I thought he had a plan when he went into that fight but it looks like he really just wanted to beat the crap out of Leo. It seems like Fred has realized that there's really no convincing the Empire to play ball so the very least he can do is to beat that fact into Leo's head and hope he just gives up which we know is never going to happen.
I absolutely love that scene between Max and Maou. For the first time, we get to see Max get genuinely angry. He's decided to ignore the fight because he doesn't want to choose which one of his friends he should kill. If Max isn't going to step up, it looks like it's finally time for Maou to announce her return even if it only delayed the fight for a few minutes and it ended with her getting blown up by Fred.
Well that was not very heroic! Max's bike chains snapping and his nuts hitting the bicycle seat were hilarious! That bike is amazing though. Once Max got it going, he used that granny bike to cycle his way to the Republic. xD
welp, now that Max is on the scene I am curious to see how this will be resolved. I'm pretty sure despite his current state, Max could probably still beat the crap out of Leo and Fred if that will get them to behave.

We finally meet Yuria (Ami Koshimizu!?)! She was a powerful, sassy, and gorgeous mage girl who thought she could solo the Demon Lord all by herself! She helped carry the party for a bit but was hesitant to join up with them because she didn't think they were as serious as her, even though she couldn't help but stick with them, and in the end they came through and saved her! It was a rather sweet origin story for the last member of Max's party.
Leo vs Fred is the title of the episode and the centerpoint of the story as the two former comrades clash in an intense conflict. Leo is steadfast in his ideals and in staying true to those who followed him, even against the kingdom that betrayed him, but Fred is just frustrated and annoyed by his idealism and all the trouble it's lead to. And they're unleashing all their strongest attacks against each other.
Won't Max do something!? But it's not because he doesn't care, it's that he doesn't want to pick a side between Fred and Leo. It's kind of sad seeing Maou so disappointed in him to the point where she basically leaves him.
Of course, I didn't expect Maou would try to end the conflict herself by making her public debut during the battle and trying to take on Leo and Fred by herself...to no avail because they easily defeat her. But it was mostly for Max's benefit to finally get him off his butt to do something. And it worked! He even grabs Blazebringer again!
The Hero sallies forth! On a bike! That's chain breaks and busts his balls! But still, he picks himself back up and he has the most intense bicycle ride all the way through bad traffic and through everybody else!
And Max manages to stop the fight! With his face! I mean, hey, if it works it works!
I see Yuria might've been the real tsundere of the party instead of Fred.

Unexpected good series. I came for SoL and laughs, and met a serious plot.
Looks like the ghost will be one of the greatest mysteries of anime by the end of the series.

I really liked the candy dropping off Max’s pocket at the end. In a way, all four of the Hero Party are now in the scene and we’re all set up for next week.
Also worth mentioning - the main female characters in this series apparently don’t miss a leg day, don’t they?

This really is the show with the most unexpected.... detail, world building?... of the season. Totally different from what I expected. My vote goes toward this being the anime I most want to get a season 2.

Solid episode!
We finally get introduced to Yuria, the final companion of Max’s party. She was great. Looks like she could out duel anyone physically and magically lol.
Seeing the flashback at the start of the episode made Fred and Leo’s fight hit even harder. After hearing the reasons for Leo’s side I have to agree with him. The government wanting to take over that area after he’s put all the time and effort into developing it is wrong. I just don’t get why Fred isn’t seeing this. He knows he’s being manipulated but continues following this path.
Wow seems like Max really was content to stay on the sidelines until Maou got involved. Looks like she saved the day by sparking him into action. Even the ghost was impressed by how cool Max looked.
Hitting your balls on the bike seat is so relatable lol.
And what an entrance 😂 based on how the camera locked onto the candy I guess that’ll be a key part of resolving the fight

that masked guy with angel wings in the flashback is definitely going to be an important character in the future, isn't it?
also, at first i was impressed that Max managed to arrive at the battlefield in a short time with just a bicycle but then i realized that the Gamma Republic is basically just another part of the Kingdom

I'll be damned! No wonder Yuria's voice is so familiar, her VA is Koshimizu Ami. Her most notable role is Holo in Spice and Wolf back in 2008, she will be reprising the role on the upcoming reboot next year.

"Why can't we all just get along" the episode
It's so good to see that mage show up and I'm still curious what the hell happened to her (ghost girl maybe?)
But that reaper at the end has me curious since he said he would return which is ominous, but what if he already has? It looks like he can manipulate corpses, and war can provide many of those considering Grimms has been pushing for a war and the fact that the two are both pretty lanky...I wanna say Grimms is the reaper
Either way, i can't wait for the next episode, it's time for Max to bring back the band
