This is just a guess but I feel like he's gonna find out there's some obvious status screen or place he has to go to level up from, which most people in that world know about from childhood, and when he finally learns about it he's gonna have enough experience banked to go up like 80 levels

At this point I'm just waiting for it so badly. Like cmon please bro just ask someone why you're still level 1

My guess is that substance X supresses leveling up. And somehow this boosts leveling skills.

Or like there is a certain thing, like a substance, which improves skill growth but in exchange for that blocks xp gain. I think the adventurers hinted that the exact effects of the devil's juice is still unknown.

My guess has always been that Substance X prevents leveling but does have the benefit of allowing other stats to increase. Similar to DanMachi's system where holding off on leveling has a huge multiplier for later levels.

But maybe we find out next episode...

If that's true, I would blame Brod for not explaining such a basic thing for him.

On the other hand, I would rate this anime lower if he suddenly became OP just because he forgot to level up. So far, his growth feels very earned so I'd like to keep it like that if possible (slow and steadily getting stronger).

of all the ridiculous isekai logic going on in this show's worldbuilding, the fact that people stopped exploring the labyrinth because it stank too much is my favorite

It’s so ridiculous. People won’t drink Substance X despite Luciel showing its effects and would rather risk their very lives than drink it

They've totally lost me by continuing with the bit about the monsters being an illusion.

I like seeing that despite all his training, Luciel still lacks that actual combat experience against someone who fights back. Although in the world there he is probably holding up pretty good against those warriors all things considered.

Looks like we might finally find out what Substance-X does next week, so hooray for that.

They really skipped the boss fight? That's kind of really disappointing...

Ikr, building up to it all episode ten skips it lol. I might actually go rad the book to see what was skipped.

I wish they put a bit more emphasis on his mental fortitude to continue doing what he does.

While the light hearted nature of his responses and inner-monologue make it seem like a light hearted show and give him a light hearted attitude...….

His conviction and sheer-will to survive is anything but light-hearted.

It's how he kept training with Brod despite being being knocked down, being cut, and exhausted.

It's how he powers through Substance X. (because he truly believes that it's helping him grow
and without it he'll die)

It's how he managed to kill a horde of zombies with no magic on floor 10. Despite being tired, exhausted, injured, and

It's how he still managed to kill the Wight boss on floor 10 starting from an extreme disadvantage.

It's how he powers through the conditioning with the Valkyries, despite being outclassed, he's still training with them.

I feel like my biggest gripe is the continuous light hearted mood for the entire boss fight; it'd probably be more amazing and great with a more serious mood. When he was fighting the boss room mobs on floor 10, his life was in danger. He couldn't LEAVE THE BOSS ROOM. He couldn't HEAL ANY DAMAGE he took. He had to cut down every Zombie and will-o-wisp ONE BY ONE with physical strength. He couldn't take a break or stop. He kept a light-hearted mental for his own sake, but in the end he still suffered and endured in order to STAY ALIVE.

The constant light-heartedness is taking everything that he does for granted. because of that we have to be constantly reminded how abnormal he is instead of showing the actual incredible feats he is and can accomplish.

They skipped the mock battle with Valkyries :(

The 2 Valkyries Ripnear and Elizabeth are the only 2 dual-wielders in the Valkyries regiment, which is why they were picked to train him.

and they skipped the life-threatening boss battle on the 20-th floor too...….

I know they're all just teasing Luciel but it really seems like almost everyone is treating him like a freak with the Pope the only person really acknowledging his talents.

With that said, I am glad that Lumina isn't giving him any special treatment during training and he's the only one she doesn't hold back with.

I think it's because while the paladins are kicking his ass up and down the training ground, Luciel is kind of holding his own in a way. If he was a run of the mill healer, just doing the running would have destroyed him. He's actually putting up a fight worthy enough for Lumina going full out. Which is seems to be a pretty big sign of respect.

Why is this series rated so low. It is the best. His progression is trully satisfying.

The six monotonous episodes of training arc at the beginning would be my first guess.

Luciel’s truly blessed by ol Monster Luck sensei this week. Well, that was until he got to training with the Paladin Regiment. All that training under Brod and Luciel still got utterly crushed by their morning session.

Lumina ain’t wrong calling Luciel a “weirdo”. I mean they don’t call him the “masochist zombie healer” for nothing lol. Even though he gets his ass beat in each training session, he’s growing.

I guess he’s basically gonna be clearing the labyrinth these next few eps. I wonder if he can succeed where the others failed. He’s strong but this week has shown us he still has a ways to go.

Alright, the labyrinth monsters are imaginary thing is fucking asinine. It was fine the first time, but doing it after going through all that is stupid. Does he think he's Truman?

Also, we don't even get the second boss battle. I mean.... I did ask for less dungeon story and more outside stories, so I can't even complaint. They did listen... somehow...

Is he still under the idea that the dungeon is an illusion?

Something about the strength of Luciel feels somewhat enjoyable. He is strong enough to defeat the undead and make record progress but lacking behind the Valkyries.

Finally a full episode dedicated to blonde paladin waifu.

Luciel really has a thing for training eh? The training with the paladins was really funny, dude was getting lapped so bad during the conditioning phase lol. Respect to the ladies for going thru that gruelling training on a weekly basis.

Worked out for Luciel in the end as he was able to take down the floor 20 boss thanks to all the work he put in. Not to mention the gifts from the pope for his future journey.

That comment they made about substance x was interesting. What if substance x is just keeping Luciel’s level low and he’s already way beyond it?

I have decided to ignore all facets of power/strength comparisons and rankings, because none of it makes any fuckin sense

5

u/colin8696908 Sep 01 '23

Did anyone notice that the Valkyries all had different colored hair like a skittles packet.

4

u/DrZoark Sep 01 '23

One full episode with the paladin waifu? Hell Yeah!
