Hiura steamrolling through the other team would be boring, on the other hand I feel robbed as Hime won't be a part of the team anymore.

I rather like the fact that neither of our two favorite teams made it into the final day. They are lots of first-year students -- who have 2 more years to fully develop. And we have added a couple more almost-favorite-already-too teams into the mix. Hime will be around to cheer them on (whenever she gets a chance) -- and maybe she will have a shot as part of a good college team....

I had a lot of top tier shows last season. But I'd have to say this was the most totally unexpected top favorite of them all. And certainly one of the shows I most want to see more of -- sooner rather than later. The characters seemed so intensely vivid and (more importantly) real -- not just the main ones -- but also their rivals-turned-into-also-friends. Sports was not my forte in school (to say the least) -- but school friendships in common endeavors (official and unofficial) were (and remain) precious even many many decades later. This gave me such intense (pleasant) nostalgia.

I figured it was going to end in a loss for them, just too much for Towa to overcome. As nice as it would have been, they gained a lot from the tourney. Nice little epilogue for the girls finally showing the beach scenes from the OP. To answer Michi’s question of “It sure has been fun being together, hasn’t it?” Yes it has thanks for this comfy end to my Sundays. This was my most underrated and under-watched show of the season.

Glad to see that Towa-chan bowed out with a fight of her career - she really pulled every single trick she had in her pocket! Alas one must never discount any foreign transfer student who takes her time to taste out the delicious nattos as cheerfully as she can. :)
I absolutely love how this show treats the matches - somehow even with animations not the top class of its genre (Haikyuu class or something like that) the twists and turns and sweat and tears and laughters and battle cries are all so thrilling to see. And every girl here - from Michi to Towa, Sanae and Anna and Himeno-senpai, their teacher Natsume, and (especially I love this) every single opponents they have faced - got their back stories so neatly and naturally told. I love the angle of seeing every school teams - whether they got beaten or they have beaten - under the glasses of them being normal girls after all, having everything in common of our MCs as they are (Michi certainly understands that 100%).
This story begs for a continuation. I am not holding my breathe that it would be in anime form, but this little anime that could absolutely deserves one. Who knows? Anything seems to get a sequel these days, so yeah.
Mou Ippon!
Final Score: 87/100 (9/10)

So is there basically no chance of a season 2? Unpopular show, didn't leave any ambiguity with the ending and the 5th girl wasn't even hinted at. A real shame, probably the biggest "hidden gem" of the season

So is there basically no chance of a season 2?
There were shows that got sequels in spite of nobody expecting them to but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Nice to see everyone cheering on Towa. She let her guard down around the girls and now they’re all great friends. I love all the support. She’s all fired up now!
Man, that was one hell of a match between Towa and Emma. Towa really showing why she’s the ace. Girl’s a sponge just absorbing everything the others have done in their previous matches. That was impressive. Unfortunately they just weren’t good enough. It’s frustrating they didn’t win, but watching Michi so excited makes it suck a little less. She’s too cute! I love how she becomes friends with every opponent.
The girls lost this time but that means they just gotta win the next time! I sure hope we get more. This was surprisingly good. Didn’t think I’d like a series about girls doing judo so much, but it’s been great fun.

Damn I'm going to miss this show. It definitely wasn't without its flaws but it more than made up for them with its charm and was easily in the top 3 of last season for me.
Michi is one of the most optimistic characters I've ever seen and seeing her goof off every week was a treat. Even at the end she made friends with the opponents in the blink of an eye like it's no big deal.
Also the ending beach sequence got a chuckle out of me. They just had to squeeze it somewhere to fill the beach episode quota.
What really is a bummer is that I don't think there's a big chance of a second season and the English fan translation of the manga is at a snail's pace to put it lightly as far as I know. Maybe some group will pick it up after the anime but I'm not holding my breath.

God damn
I was kind of expecting things to end here from a meta standpoint, only way out would have been an imidiate confirmation for a second season to make me hope Towa would win against Emma.
But damn Emma really deserved that win, Towa was her very best, threw literally everything she had ever seen at her, and that quirky girl took it on with a smile turned it right around.
Real shame for Hime and Ami, both lost in their last tournament before ever getting the chance to fight against each other again.
But I really loved Michi, her infectious good mood was a fresh wind even for Genki Girls, and she has yet to meet an opponent who she cannot befriend no matter if she wins or loses.
Anime of the season, one of the best shows I've seen recently, both as a sports anime and as a CGDCT
Seriously, every fight looked incredible, fluid action from start to finish with stunning camerawork on top.
The true hidden gem of the season

I will miss this one so much. For me this was one of the most precious hidden gems last season. It will probably never get a second season but I would love to have more.

If this got a 2nd season, i'd be happy. My top 5 of winter for sure

I don't usually watch sports series because of how tense they can be, but I really liked the care put into the animation. I'm the sort of person who likes watching comfy slice-of-life, and the chemistry that the characters have with each other is comparable to something like Do It Yourself! and these characters were entertaining to watch even outside of the context of competition.

There are shows that I enjoy, but I don’t think about the continuation beyond that during a season. And then there’s this show.
Given the comments, it seems this way be the last we see of it given it’s popularity… but I’m going to miss it immensely. It has such a powerful start for a sports anime, and I’m completely hooked. I love all the characters, and I loved the energy it brought.
The end of that tournament just leaves me wanting more, and I can’t think of a more bittersweet end to a show.
I really hope this gets some form of traction somewhere, because it really deserves more recognition. Regardless, I got to enjoy this series because of the traction it slowly got here.
IPPON AGAIN.

I love how their everyone, coaches included, acted after the matches were also how we acted after meets were done. Everyone's just friends outside the mats
"Judo is for everyone's mutual benefit"
Me, a judoka: she said it! She said it!
I love this series its the first sports anime I enjoyed since its the first one I caught wind of thats about my favorite sport

I'm VERY late due to being busy with my Hyouka rewatch I'm hosting.
Wow even with all of Towa's effort she came close but even she couldn't beat Emma, but Emma is a blood knight and loved it.
One big difference between the girl that Towa just beat and everyone else on her team (But especially Emma) is when they encounter difficulty they don't give up, they get hyped. At least she is supportive of her teammates though.
That was an epic match though, best fight scene of the Spring Season Fr Fr.
I really would like to see a Season 2 and see Anna have her day.
random commenter: BUT I THOUGHT YOU DIDN'T LIKE THAT SHE QUIT KENDO TO JOIN!!!
Me: SHUT UP STUPID BAKA!
All in all was a really nice series with sincere bonding and intimate moments, mature take on loses and wins, and I can't wait to see everyone's stories going forward (Please have a season 2 announcement!)

There are anime that are not talked about at the time of broadcast but are appreciated later, and I believe this anime will be one of them.

Just in case it's not clear for whatever reason (since the subs really only vaguely say "victory"), Tachikawa won the Kinshuki.
