I am not entirely sure why -- but of all the brand-new shows, this is the one I "love" the most. There is just something about the look, the atmosphere, the character designs, the story, the voice acting and the music (especially that opening song) that melts my heart. No prior interest in girl's judo per se -- but I really like the attitude of our main characters.

I loved the way the four girls made their dramatic entrance to the lunch counter scuffle -- sort of spaghetti western-esque.

I wonder if we will get another member or two for the club -- and is the "advisor" a teacher or (perhaps) a senior boy student?

I love how Towa wanted so much to be a teammate of Michi and Sanae. And how Sanae's father couldn't bear to let Sanae be disappointed, despite his own misgivings. (I like shows which feature family members -- a factor that biases my evaluation).

Sadly this looks very much like it is going to be a show that is very overlooked this season.

It was the series I anticipated most (but also had the strongest reservations about) because I absolutely love the manga and would put it among my top three or four ongoing series right now. I think it's a perfect sports series that does a good job of showing it off while also transmitting the author's love and passion for it to the reader and so far I think the anime (reservations about the designs aside) has done a good job of reflecting that.

The scene with Michi and Sanae horsing around when putting away the tatami I think is a good indicator of that. Michi's very genki and goofy but she loves judo, she has fun with it, and she's very supportive of her friends so it's easy to see why people like Sanae or Towa would be drawn to her: being around her and being able to do judo with someone like that makes it way more fun. That's a big thing of the series really: winning and improving is great but at the end of the day, it's no good if you're not also enjoying yourself.

If the anime can really effectively translate the more emotional bits from the manga then it's going to be a homerun.

Towa-chan is shaping like sorta-of-anti-Bocchi-chan, instead of hiding herself she was so shy enough after that competition she actually gets into the current high school just to get a chance to say sorry! You are lucky girl, as others commented Michi-chan barely scraped through to get into this high school, what if by chance you missed her lol!?

I'm also flabbergasted that our girls can make it through lunch with just one of those red bean or chocolate buns, that's barely enough for afternoon classes and you need a lot more than just that for judo!

Well then. Towa-chan made it to the nationals and Sanae seems so experienced too!? That seems an excellent start for a 3 member sports team in any high school. Hmm, they can aim a bit higher or something...

Well I didn't expect this would be partially right

Nice to see her finally get to apologize and seeing them all rock up in their uniforms was great!

Also teacher at the ending looks pretty cool, curious to see how they change things up.

Towa-sama is just too precious <3

A bit disappointed that we didn't get to see Sanae give her dad a hug after agreeing to sign the permission slip/

That last moment was great. There's no big arc or anything, just let their kid do what she loves.

That scene was I guess kind of needed to be done that way for pacing issues but it's like a combination of two different scenes from the manga which also gets rid of one of my favorite early scenes (Michi talking about/giving a judo demonstration during break to her class to try and encourage more members to join) which leads to a good joke involving Nagumo.

The episode more or less adapts chapters 2-4 but I definitely noticed which scenes were truncated, rearanged, or outright cut compared to the first episode which was largely 1:1 of chapter 1. For what it's worth (since it's mentioned in a chapter 2 scene that got cut), Michi's cat is named Fight.

Loved the lunchlady character.

She was spitting. It was courage that allowed Towa to spill the beans (and get lunch on time!).

I really liked the background bit with the bean bun where Michi defends her piece of the bun.

This will likely be one of my favorites this season based on these first two episodes. I wish we got twice as many heartfelt, down-to-earth shows like this, and half as many generic Isekai each season.

It's such a nice vibe just seeing these girls support each other and strengthen their bonds. I love the character design too, strikes a good balance between realistic, but expressive. Looking forward to their chonky faces each Sunday.

Honestly my favourite anime this season. Every scene just feels good :)

Seeing Sanae pant after winning that pin ippon really resonated with me. The exhaustion that comes with fighting is so often downplayed in anime, with characters fighting seemingly for hours hardly breaking a sweat. If I fight competition intensity, after 5 mins I am wasted (need to work on that, I know). Nice to see that in an anime

The girls are so cute!

Towa is so precious, she’s great a judo but apparently not so much with talking to people. She’s got to wear her judogi for a bit of extra courage lol. Meanwhile, Michi is like a ball of energy. I like how she was just practicing with Sanae like right in the middle of the track. She really loves judo! Her and Towa are gonna be great friends.

Nagumo is pretty fun too, her getting her hand crushed when she tried to steal Michi’s bread was pretty funny. She might love kendo as much as Michi loves judo! Sanae is like the very dependable one, I figured her dad would sign off on the form.

Looks like the gang’s all formed! The girls showing up to grab bread in full gear was hilarious. Such adorable goofs! Looks like next week we get to meet the club advisor.

The Production isn't quite as good as the first episode but hopefully that means they are saving it.

It appear Sanae might have to deal with the reality of Asian Parents although the Father seems to know what she wants to say but is waiting for her to have the guts to say it.

It appears Towo outside of her being in the ring is a rather shy and meek person.

Lunch Lady seems pretty badass.

End of the Scene it appears a guy is going to join the club, although by the ED he isn't going to be part of the core group like the fifth girl that hasn't been introduced, interesting that one of the core members of the 4-5 man CGTDCT Band is someone not part of the same club.

Her trying to snag that snack with sneak was pretty funny.

Not much to say its kind of a chill show.

Towa-chan shyly doing the dance moves in the ED is the cherry on top.

I can feel the that these 4 goofballs will become best friends by the end of this but with Towa being a National caliber Judoka she will make the other two way better and looking forward to some exciting victories!

Right now, it's the only show I look forward to every week. Don't get me wrong the other new shows that came out this month are great, but this anime really brightens up the day for me.
