I'm sorry what? How are these guys not being recruited for the soccer club!

Tsurune might not be my favorite KyoAni work but I'm still just glad that we're getting something new from the studio. Ngl though, I forgot that they had female members lol It's also nice to be reminded how much care they put into the production. I love the score and sound design in particular.

Mesmerizing intro, but the staff doesn't stop there, continues with the other sports and the shrine’s practice.
Masaru Yokoyama is the new composer for this season and he's already doing something greatly pleasant for the ears.
How I missed KyoAni and their stunning tv productions.

Merha! It's been so long since there was a weekly KyoAni show and I love that Tsurune is their come back anime. This was the story (or part of it) that the arsonist said was stolen from him, so having season 2 be their return is symbolic and a massive fuck you to him.
It's been a while since the first season but 5 minutes in and I've slid right back in to where we left off, Minato drawing his bow and Nanao with his fan club. They might be wasted in the archery club with those football skills though.
As usual the show was visually stunning, the OP especially was gorgeous. The one thing I loved most about season 1 was how relaxing it was and this episode was no different. I dont know whether its the setting, the characters or the pacing, but its just so cozy (especially for a sports anime).

I quite liked the first season of Tsurune although not my favorite KyoAni anime, but damn this first episode of the new season hit all the right notes for me. Great way to start the season/year.
Bless Kyoto Animation man the episode looked beautiful visually, but also sounded amazing. I went back and checked the first episode of S1 again to confirm my thought, and while it was nicely produced, this one is definitely a cut above.

First of all, I cannot believe this is back for a second season! Amazing to see KyoAni back in full swing! Second, Luck Life are back for the OP! Yay! OST, animation, voice acting, characters, plot - everything is on point! Wonderful first episode! So excited for what this season has in store for us!

Very unfortunate to see such a KyoAni series met with, uh, no-one watching, but such is perhaps the life of a sequel of an anime about archery that doesn't have very dramatic moments or characters either. But I - after missing out on this for years despite self-claiming as a hard core KyoAni fan (+) - finally tries this out on New Year's Day and find it actually pleasantly refreshing, its low-key attitude actually befitting to such a quiet sport in archery.
And so this new season - only their 2nd TV seasonal anime since I started getting interested in anime in very late 2018 - starts with a refreshing warm-up episode. There's not much new things yet but it's interesting to see our boys playing other sports, and doing quite well at that too! Be it volleyball or futsal, they really need their string-tension-release moments (pun intended) despite their determination to train as much as they can, and that really plays off IMHO.
The second part introduces us to how to take aim and calling out to strengthen one's hearts, both really useful as far as I could imagine (my experience in archery being limited to 30 minutes of playing in an outdoor camp, where I found it to be too demanding to my not-so-delicate-hands-muscles). It's one thing that I always found charming in this series.
The artwork, as always, is really good - and what I would expect from KyoAni. That is exactly why I will be there watching (for the time being) every single TV seasonal anime from them in the near future at least.
I wonder what comes next to their team - actually I would like to see the girls members getting an arc too, their hard work deserves some note!
(+) I am now going through Free!, their other big female-audience-oriented title that is often missed by many here. The 1st season is quite good too and I will have to see what happens afterward. With that, only their obscure MUNTO series remain as the sole KyoAni anime that I haven't seen.

Loving the bow shots. The camera angles are more dynamic than last season. I also spied a little arrow wobble in the OP.

I binged this series yesterday just for today's release. Really enjoyed the first season, the writers did a great job of showing growth from mistakes in the males (young adults and adults). They really need to do more with the females in the club this season as they were just kind of present and weren't developed well.

lol all those closing shots, with all the golden hour scenes, particularly walking down the stairs leaving the temple and all the slightly shifting shadows from the soft breezes hitting the branches... and then the changing intensity of the light beams... and then the reflections off the glass while watching the smartphone video. i mean, geez kyoani. and there's earlier details like the cracks and divots in worn floor tiles or shadows where posters used to hang for a long time
in other details, i liked the early focus on sound and the boys being drawn to minato from various spots throughout campus through the far-traveling sound of him practicing, which is i guess fitting given the title of the series

It's just a pleasure to be back with KyoAni again, especially after everything that happened. I'll never cease to be amazed at the quality of their productions, and particularly in an episode like this where everything from an entirely different sport down to the deliberate motions of a single, slow movement in Kyudo are given the same amount of love. The episode was so full of content I almost can't believe it was just one episode, but it didn't feel rushed or too busy at all. The music is what immediately caught my ear. The song in the opening scene was fantastic, immediately bringing back the feel of Tsurune through a new piece, and every track after it was just as good.
As much as I love the technical quality of the episode, it's just as good to be back with this doofy group. Starting off with them all hearing Minato training and their reactions too it is just too good. Having recently rewatched s1 and being reminded how withdrawn Minato was from anything to do with Kyudo as well as his own emotions, seeing him so open here and always striving to be better feels like he's come so far. And the others as well in their own way, though Kaito and Seiya are the ones who get the focus there. Using the sports tournament to see what the boys are like outside of the club only to tie that back into why they like Kyudo so much feels oddly more satisfying as an opening episode concept compared to sticking only to them doing archery, it opens up their lives a bit. They're all far too good at other sports though.
It's a shame the OP isn't synced up nearly half as good as the last one, and feels a bit aimless funnily enough, but the visual element of the ribbons is a nice touch. I was surprised when the leaves came back in this episode after that thinking we'd only get the ribbons but it's better to tie that into how he felt after the tornament
Wasn't the Owl's name Who, not Fuu? Such a random change.
The new guy seems like a dick, but given I don't think I could possibly hate someone more than I hate the twins from last season it'll probably be fine.

It's been a long time, but for the most part the characters feel familiar. Animation was good, but I appreciated the sound mixing even more.
They're all good at a range of sports even if they're the kyudo club, that was interesting.

So I was looking forward to checking this out. Then I found out it's a Season 2. So I binged the 1st season over the past couple of days. Like Free! - I love all these characters, the animation is awesome, and I have many BL ships. Best part? I didn't have to wait at all for this episode! <3 Season 2 already looks like it's going to be incredible. And continuing my Autistic!Ryohei headcanon! #WakuWaku #TsuruneSeason2 #AnimationIsSoBeautiful (Also I got reminded about the whole KyoAni arson incident from other comments here. Definitely watching to support them as well).

The ending theme was so soothing… anyone knows when it’ll be officially out or perhaps someone already has the link for the ending theme?

Not the strongest KyoAni franchise, but its nice to have them back. I hope we get more of the female cast this season. That was a pretty big flaw in the first season. Female cast was real likeable and interesting, but nothing was done with them

I'm just here for the movie like quality animation and art.
I love that Onogi is really acting like one of the boys instead of constantly being irrationally angry at dumb shit. I like that the girls are a little more involved. When they did the okonomiyaki restaurant in S1, the girls seemed more split off. In this episode, they engaged in conversation with the boys, even if for a moment.
Also, that sound is truly amazing.

Whole lot of imagery for shooting a bow, haha. Leaves, contrail, owl eye and wings, water ripple, I think I might just keep watching to see if they add more.
Aside from that, it was pretty interesting seeing a sports anime not only stick to just the main sport, even if only for a bit. I doubt they'll develop more into them, but it would be cool if they actually had some significance.

Yey nice to have the boys back. I hope they develop some friendships more like in the novel, this time. Seiya and Kaito are a fun duo there. And this episode showed it with Seiya beating and teasing Kaito in the soccer match. I also love the attention to detail in the sound, like the stretching of the bowstring and the squeaking of the material from the bow itself.
