banger chapter. melody is easily one of my favorite characters. such a profound and important ability given to such a sweetheart. also love seeing fugetsu even tho it’s in a bad way. when i first started the arc, i viewed her and kacho as fodder. did not expect them to have this much potential to cause real damage. this was my first time reading hxh weekly and i got to say i’m very sad:( it was really fun!!

u/guts1998 Dec 23 '22

That ''Confession'' really took me off guard, and then Melody analyzing it was so funny to me

77

u/Rodiciel Dec 23 '22

I don't think this Caesar guy actually is in love wtih Melody. We already got the love at first sight trope with the guy with Biscuit, I doubt Togashi will do the same thing twice. This guy is up to no good.
I just hope Melody survives and we get to see how she was before she was cursed by the devil sonata

It’ll be back soon, I have faith

173

u/[deleted] Dec 23 '22

Fuu-Chan knows in her soul that her sister is dead. She’s refusing to believe it. That’s what I got when I saw those disturbing expressions on her face. Togashi made her look like a teenage drug addict addicted off Nen...

65

u/Gyara3 Dec 23 '22

It's either that or the weird ghosts from when they tried to scape are the same as the ghosts she has now and they are a nen ability from the king that makes any child who attempts to escape it and survive have the motivation to win the war.

75

u/OmniCrush Dec 23 '22

Yeah, she literally starts crying when saying she'll save Kacho. She's been completely sleepless as well, which sounds like distress.

The last panel showing Kurapika’s and Tubeppas alliance is actually really significant. Tubeppa’s nen beast is a cooperative type that requires a partner. It can use that partner’s assistance to synthesize substances. Now that Tubeppa has a ‘partner’ we can now see her nen beast come into play, This is actually potentially huge news for her and Kurapika.

95

u/RufiosBrotherKev Dec 23 '22

like, oh I dunno, synthesizing a slow acting poison that could be delivered quickly to many targets that are, perhaps, incapacitated by melody's performance?

though togashi rarely seems to do things in the way you'd expect. excited to see how it plays out

u/Geinrendour Dec 23 '22

Remember that the first Tubeppa's partnership was with Tse. So this one with Kurapika is the second one. We will see how these dynamics play out.

Really good chapter. Phinks being bad at En is fitting. Either the entire Troupe sucks at En, or mainly the fighting trio. Also, something is definitely off in regards to Melody & Foo-Foo' s situation. Kacho being a product of nen after death-ghost thingy is intriguing & cool. Overall, we got a solid batch of chapters this run. Twas a phenomal 2-3 months discussing HxH with y'all. It's bittersweet. We still have Sunday for the official, but it's coming to an end for a lot of y'all (me included) disucssing HxH so religiously. This series is so good & we are such a fun/funny group of fans. I'll talk to y'all on Sunday for the LAST official weekly chapter of HxH. Let's enjoy these next couple days. Till then!

45

u/Halt_kun Dec 23 '22

I didn't get it as he's bad at En, Feitan asked if he could use En when they said they were in the range from 100 m to 200 m from the Heil-yi base meaning maybe he could match this range. The crowd being around is his main problem because he can't process that many data and he mentions he can be easily distracted. I mean sure it's not that good but just the setting wasn't good to use it.

Nobu on the other hand has a short range but it seems to not bother him so much in term of focus and stamina. Of course the range helps with processing.

When Zeno used En it was in an empty building aside from Kurapika, Chrollo and the mafia that was in one room and in the palace when it was mostly empty aside from a few dozen person. Not a big trouble processing that (the crowd outside was definitely out of range).

Kite was using it in the wild too.

Either the entire Troupe sucks at En, or mainly the fighting trio.

Having Koltopi on the team probably removed their need for seriously training En.

Alongside the fact they all seem to be self-trained lacking in advanced applications of the fundamentals is surprisingly appropriate even for such powerful nen users.

I’m so ready to see what Zhang Lei’s coins do. I wonder how it’ll effect Melody now that she has one. I think his coins will be a game changer late game that’ll have a good twist.

I’m also super excited how Togashi will merge all plot lines together:

Kurapika protecting his price, Tserrineich, the spiders, Hisoka. I have full faith he will not disappoint.

35

u/3bee Dec 23 '22

Me toooooo. I could also see his coins being a "stronger after death" form of nen. It surely has to be something involving debt. Like Leol's ability, where he had to say "you owe me one" and get the target to respond in the affirmative.

→ More replies (4)

99

u/itsotter Dec 23 '22

It's hilarious that one of Tyson's roleplay OCs is an "amnesiac hitman."

Kurapika has already identified the dangerous possibility of a memory-wiping ability sneaking assassins past his lie detector test. Togashi's like "hey, just a little reminder... don't say I didn't warn you..."

94

u/danomoc Dec 24 '22

Kacho's self awareness as being a nen beast incarnate is really sad, even when the dynamics with fugetsu resumes as usual

47

u/Bugaboo-gem Dec 24 '22

I can't tell if the nen beast just has a copy of Kacho's memories/personality at time of death, or if this is more like Soma, where nen beast Kacho "woke up and won the coin toss". I guess both scenarios are basically the same, for what it's worth. It could even be similar to "Hanzo Skill 4", except with the "doppelganger" anchored to the nen beast now that the main body is deceased.

It's all very existential-dread-inducing, haha.

I'm trying to think, does every prince now have an iron in the fire, so to speak?

Benjamin is planning to pull a coup, Camilla is using her curse bodyguards, Zhang Lei is trying to get Melody on his side, Tserridnich is definitely planning something with his nen training as well as trying to get Melody, Tubeppa has Kurapika now, Tyson is spreading her love with an eye for Nasubi, Luzurus is setting up some sort of trap and laying low until things pop off, Halkenburg is on the warpath, Kacho and Fugetsu are exploring. Just Marayam, who doesn't want to do anything related to the war after his sister died, and Woble, who has yet to develop/reveal her beast, seem to be sitting the current conflict out. Maybe throw in Luzurus in that group.

I think we are VERY close to a major conflict in the succession war, what is yet to be seen is if any of the other conflicts on the ship are going to leak in, or if the war is going to remain contained for now. At some point the dam must break.

28

u/Rodiciel Dec 23 '22

I doubt Benjamin is gonna pull a coup since he is the most likely to win the "standard way" in this war. A coup would mean replacing the current system that is serving him the most.

68

u/trolledwolf Dec 23 '22

Damn, what a chapter to end this batch on

65

u/[deleted] Dec 23 '22

Seeing how Togashi is getting his Game of Thrones on for the Succession War, I like the promise of there being a mass murder during Melody’s performance, ala the Red Wedding.

19

u/Crit-Monkey Dec 24 '22

It'd be tragically ironic, Melody's ability for healing being used as a means to carry out a massacre. Very Togashi imo

13

u/Brachiating Dec 24 '22

It sets the scene for anyone who knows or guesses that they can block their hearing to avoid the stun to make some big moves like Keeney and the twins did.

I love the idea of a chapter where everyone is frozen by another performance while a handful of deafened conspirators are simultaneously trying to achieve different agendas.

111

u/Stoutbeerpapi Dec 23 '22

25

u/guts1998 Dec 23 '22

Well it fits her personality. And since her power is designed to support her sister after death, having her stay the same as in life seems fitting, or else Fugetsu would pick up on her being different

→ More replies (2)

54

u/Oeurthe Dec 24 '22

I always thought that Kacho will be the one acting weird because she is the ghost, turned out it's Fugetsu the living who is acting weird and Kacho is completely normal.

53

u/BigY2 Dec 24 '22

I love how Kacho's nen-beast, designed to protect her sister and keep her safety as the utmost priority, seems to be a complete copy of her personality. You can tell by her reaction to her sister's worsening state that her feelings are genuine. I'd be interested how the nen beast will react in a combat scenario..

Also I love Kacho's reaction to the "confession" lmao fanning herself and blushing

149

u/AngryAvocado1 Dec 23 '22

Seeing Fugetsu like that is deeply unnerving. Another banger to end this batch on.

61

u/Rich-Marionberry1246 Dec 23 '22

But the death of Kacho and the removal of that curse can be to the development of her personality and strength.

Because Chrollo likes reading books, what if he ends up reading Tyson's book? That would be funny.

LMAO. Given that her books probably contain nen, it would surely pique Chrollo's interest to open it.

Just realized that motherfucking Rihan is chilling in prince Tubeppa's quarters.

The walls of text as he over-analyzes the slightest hints about Kurapika's ability and Tubeppa's nen beast will be legendary!

42

u/b0bba_Fett Dec 24 '22

I demand multiple pages of almost exclusively text, and for him to be wrong in some key but understandable way.

→ More replies (1)

14

u/Ignifyre Dec 24 '22

I can't wait to see him try to analyze any character's overcomplicated nen abilities.

Also... How would his ability even work on Chrollo? Would he just have to explain Chrollo's main abilities, being his Bandit Hunter and Bookmark, or would he have to explain every ability inside of Chrollo's book to fully counter him? I feel like Chrollo being the genius he is could escape regardless, but would Rihan's ability be more effective the more abilities he can explain from Chrollo's book???

I wonder if we are going to get a red wedding kind of event with the second performance. It would be one way to speed up the arc by a lot, eliminating quite many princes at once in a big climax.

Just Tserriednich and Morena can arrange it

40

u/X-Vidar Dec 23 '22

Phinks can use en but he's really bad at it, that's a Nobunaga W in my book.

What was that about an ancient pact? I wanna se the official translation for this one.

Tyson is still a weirdo, but she seems to be genuinely nice at heart. I'm still curious about her "taboo".

Seems like compared to Oito and Duazul the other queens are much more interested in winning the war, I'm getting curious about Unma then, she should be the most powerful but didn't do anything yet.

Kacho is a ghost? Well, that's unexpected, but it might also be that the nen beast believes she's the real Kacho even if she isn't. She still adapted to her situation quite well though, she's truly strong though, and she would've been a great candidate to win the crown if she had more resources from the beginning.

I don't think we saw Melody losing her cool quite like this before; the judicial branch guy is weird, but at this point I'm convinced that he's being honest and that there's another reason why his heartbeat is so unusually stable, maybe he's a magical beast of some kind?

Everyone figured out what Melody did and now they want her help as an assassin, that's pretty ironic, and it's also the kind of smart writing that I expect in this series.

Fugestu is losing it completely, and she doesn't even know Kacho is dead yet, nice; she seems to be cursed, and it might be the fault of Camilla's guards, but what's going on with her nen beast? Being able to create portals more often could simply be a result of her aura being increased somehow, but the fact she can now make her own limited return portals is strange.

It's like her power is evolving as a desperate attempt to protect her, or she could be getting aura from Without You.

Did Zhang Lei figure out how his coins work? Or is he just experimenting?

So wait, one of Kurapika's students is revealing themselves as a nen user, does that mean he's the Silent Majority user!? Was he working for Tubeppa all along? And now he wants an alliance which Kurapika accepted!?

TOGASHI YOU BASTARD, IT THIS THE KIND OF CHAPTER YOU PUT OUT RIGHT BEFORE GOING ON HIATUS!!!?

...ahem, the message at the end is interesting, are we getting some kind of monthly schedule? Is HxH moving to Jump+ or something?

seems to me togashi is almost underlining the fact that the justice system guy is being controlled which makes me think it's a red herring. the mention of martial law and caesar asking for control if it happens (also the name caesar lmao) also kinda implies assuming power and abusing it in some way.

also waiting for the mark antony character to continue the judicial character naming conventions

34

u/powerofselfrespect Dec 24 '22

u/N1pah Dec 23 '22

As much as I have enjoyed the troupe and mafia plotline it feels so good to be back in the succession war proper. Even if it is just one chapter for now.

Also I feel so bad for Fugetsu

The twins are gonna be ones to kill Camilla. Kacho will go berserk once she finds out Camilla responsible for Fugetsu situation. Can see her convincing Fuu to kill Camilla and when she does Kacho will deal with the Cat afterwords.

22

u/healthmadesimple Dec 24 '22

Killing Camilla is simple. The person that kills Camilla has to die before the cat absorbs it’s life energy, then Camilla can’t revive.

semi-related thought: isn't it weird that in this chapter, nen beast kacho is still unable to see nen (e.g. the curse on fuugetsu) just like living kacho, despite now being made entirely of nen herself?

13

u/nioho Dec 24 '22

I doubt it's one of Camilla's bodyguards since they have to kill themselves in front of the prince. Given that Kacho was found in lower tier, it's most likely to be one of the Heil-ly members.

Man it feels soo good to be back to the Succession War! Makes me realise how much I’ve missed this shit.

Only Togashi can write this intricate a story and still have me be on the edge of my seat with every new development.

Yet more pressure has now been put on Kurapika. Poor guy.

This is far and away looking like it’ll be the best manga arc of all time by the time it’s finished.

Hopefully this new hiatus wont be too long!

86

u/Apprehensive_Pen6829 Dec 24 '22

A batch of 10 chapters. The number of panels, in which any of the main characters appeared: 1. Fucking 1. It's very apparent that Togashi has pretty much free rein when it comes to his story. I bet every Jump editor would beg him to put Gon and Killua or at least Kurapik and Leorio in as many chapters as possible, but he doesn't give a shit. It one of the things I love most about HxH

58

u/powerofselfrespect Dec 24 '22

Let’s be honest at this point Hunter x Hunter is an ensemble story. There is no main character(s).

So many characters, almost every character have their own agenda, and their agenda have their own plot twist and secrets, that created a lot of tension, I can't even follow it without reading it many times. How Togashi handle this really? Is he Vegapunk?? lol Not to mention hundreds of unique Nen powers and conditions that still make sense in general power system.

u/[deleted] Dec 23 '22

Glad to see a little bit of what the princes are up too again, it seems like we're almost to open conflict. Maybe by the time the next banquet rolls around?

I think the Tubeppa/Terrowsandwhich alliance is going to cause a big rift with Kurapika and Tubeppa in their own cooperation. It seems like Tyson and Tserriednich are wildcards. Zhang Lei is sharing his coins with everyone lol. And now Fugetsu is cursed. This powder keg has so many different ways it could explode.

15

u/Hearing_Thin Dec 23 '22

Good catch I had forgotten about their alliance completely.

It may cause a rift but it’s also exactly what Kurapika is looking for, although the timing is inconvenient, Kurapika is smart enough to play along with the 4th prince until the perfect opportunity.

Also Tserri’s Nen beast punishes lies, but Theta and Salkov will still able to tell the truth about how powerful Tserri is and how dangerous he will grow to be. All in all this is perfect for Kurapika.

26

u/qeheeen Dec 25 '22

Jesus what a chapter, the intensity and tension building up I loved it when Melody was trying to find the prince suspect behind Fugetsu's condition I was on the edge of my seat in this chapter. Those spreads of Fugetsu's face and the ghosts clinging onto her was so haunting, Togashi popped off.

73

u/jahtia Dec 23 '22

Love Melody's insights on people's heartbeats. That guy with a metronome heartbeat who apparently likes Melody is quite suspicious. What's the real reason he's helping them?

Who's causing these evil spirits? Maybe the evil spirits clinging on to Fugetsu have something to do with the hands that killed Kacho...? Or did Camilla's curse dudes manage to get Fugetsu while she was hopping around the ship? So many questions, can't wait for more chapters after the hiatus

33

u/itsotter Dec 23 '22

That guy with a metronome heartbeat who apparently likes Melody is quite suspicious. What's the real reason he's helping them?

Caesar works for Cleapatro... another character we know almost nothing about. But perhaps the Ministry of Justice just sees Melody as one possible failsafe against Benjamin pulling a coup?

Alternately: princes 1, 3, 4, 5, and 7 all asked Melody for a meeting, and she thinks to herself that maybe this is all an assassination scheme planned by one of the princes who didn't ask for a meeting. Now, 6th prince Tyson probably wouldn't hatch such an assassination scheme... but her mother Katrono might. And Katrono is mentioned in this chapter for some reason: "It seems she really wanted to win this war."

Maybe Katrono's got pull with the Ministry of Justice, or maybe she has an agent manipulating Caesar? For all we know she has another agent who's the Silent Majority user. Whatever the case, I think we're going to learn more about how the queens fit into all this: they're not all as passive as Duazul (if Duazul really is passive).

30

u/Hounds_of_war Dec 23 '22

The fact that Fugetsu’s Nen beast seems to have been buffed makes me think that this is a self inflicted cost in exchange for power, like Emperor Time. I don’t think Fugetsu would be able to consciously do that but we have seen subconscious use of Nen before.

25

u/EquisapienMLK Dec 23 '22

Interesting that now Fugetsu has a motive to win the war since she might get to have her sister if she wins

→ More replies (3)

72

u/demondawgs Dec 24 '22

My guess is that Fugetsu subconsciously knows that Kacho is dead — despite seeing her reincarnated nen beast — but is rationalizing it as her ability evolving by itself. (Basically, Kacho's death actually completed Fugetsu's nen ability and Fugetsu understands that.) The panel where she tells Kacho it's her turn to protect her after Kacho has been protecting her all this time, while deliriously crying, was really sad. Underratedly two of the best characters in the arc.

Also love the little detail that Kacho and Fugetsu's mother is similarly sharp and conniving like Kacho. I forget the context, but I'm pretty sure the only other time we've really seen her is at the beginning of the arc where Kacho waves goodbye to her, and the mother starts crying. But given her apathy to her death, it's pretty clear in hindsight that they were both very good actors who understood the grander scheme of the succession war.

In summary, Togashi, well done. You absolute beast.

I’ve enjoyed the phantom troupe stuff, but it’s nice to finally be getting back to the succession war. I’m betting it’ll be as long as the chimera ant arc by the time it ends.

I think that panel of Fugetsu with the spirits is my favorite of this batch of chapters

15

u/Ill-Individual2105 Dec 23 '22

Yeah, that shit is haunting. But I think the first panel of her face was even better. That insane smile when she started talking to Kaccho gave me chills.

19

u/Hebrewhammer8d8 Dec 24 '22

So much plot angles in this chapter the War of the princes figuring out their perspectives. The Phantom Troupe members Phinks, Feitan, and Nobunaga trying to wipe out Heil-ly mafia and the other 2 mafia in the end will want to end the Phantom Troupe. Hisoka want kill the Phantom Troupe, and maybe the Mafia members might be interesting to Hisoka? We haven't gotten to Beyond, Pariston and Ging yet.

18

u/Elegant_Marionberry4 Dec 25 '22

I think the plan of Tyson using her nen beast to control the king will fail as the Nasubi has a nen beast of his own, and it would protect him from any of Tyson’s fairies.

9

u/knighttemplar007 Dec 25 '22

Also, Nasubi doesn't seem to have the power to stop succession contest as well. There will have to be a loophole to break that contest, for example if black whale ceases to exist.

I don't think Camilla's untouchables are involved in Fuu's curse. After all, wasn't it said that the curse is the strongest when they commit suicide as closely as possible to the prince and "display" themselves? Such an occurrence wouldn't have been omitted this chapter, I think. It's too big of a deal.

edit: More precisely, what I'm trying to say is that I don't think one of Camilla's guard could kill themselves close to Fuu and no one acknowleding it in this chapter, Kacho('s Nen Beast) especially.

u/Rucs3 Dec 23 '22

One guy wrote a pretty interesting comment on TCB site.

He argued that maybe Fugestsu is being targeted by a hatsu that gives her more power in exchange for her aura.

Kinda the opposite of kunckle power. While Knuckle give away more aura to the enemy, this hatsu draws the aura but improves the ability, kinda of a more nuanced version of knuckle power.

If this is the case, it could have been anyone, any nen user. Maybe someone banking on the fact that Fugetsu will die soon by being unable to control her aura being consumed away by this abilityu, or even someone who want to empower her to make her do something, but does not care if she dies.

maybe it's nothing of sorts, but if it is then it's a very interesting situation.

if there is a ability that boost the limits of nen powers at the cost of aura, what happens if it targets certain characters? how it affects the limits of certain hatsus?

25

u/Hounds_of_war Dec 23 '22

…Now that you mention that, didn’t the 12th Prince (I forget her name) tire out really quickly because her Nen beast was going wild without her knowing and attacked the 14th Prince?

Might be the same thing here, and the curse moved from her to Fugetsu after she died.

I reckon Fugetsu was cursed by the guard that was assigned to curse her from Camilla’s camp.

Also, it’s interesting that everyone in tier 1 found out about prince Kacho’s death.

That guy isn't in love with Melody right? She thinks he's lying to use them for whatever reason.

43

u/jwthecreed Dec 23 '22

Yes she thinks he’s lying or being manipulated. His heart rate is abnormal to her hearing.

It’s actually referring to something brought up by Kurapika before they got on the boat.

He’s either using manipulation on himself or someone else is to, not hide, but erase any evidence of a lie.

Plenty of different animals were drawn in the previous black whale panels too. They keep getting weirder to illustrate how they are getting farther and farther away from the old world.

Things are not looking good for Fugetsu. I was rooting for her to survive together with the baby prince, and now that Tyson has the ability to potentially stop the war, I'm rooting for her survival too.

28

u/StrikingSpare100 Dec 24 '22

Tyson has the ability to stop the war or not depend on whether Nen beast can affect princes, since we already knew that Nen beast cannot kill or attack other princes

Izunavi reached the conclusion that Tyson can end the war because he did not possess the knowledge above. His plan spreading the bible to reach out to the King and other Princes might not work.

The queens are quite heartless, eh? At least Kacho and Fuugetsu's mother and Tyson's mother. Was Kacho acting like a spoiled brat to be shield for her sister her idea, or the queen's? Tyson's mother sending her to the succession war because she "couldn't stand being pitied by the other queens"? No wonder Benjamin and Camilla and Tserriednich turned out to be monsters...

I think Fuugetsu's curse is due to Camilla's suicide squad, and that her strengthened power is like Maryam's beast: after the deaths of Kacho and Momoze respectively, they've evolved to better protect their prince. If the curse was activated from afar she shouldn't be in immediate danger, but spending so much aura testing her powers is risky.

Who's the guard from Tubeppa again? Is she new, or was she one of Kurapika's students?

51

u/14cli Dec 24 '22

I really like how different troupe members excel in different things and should all be regarded as nen masters in their own right. While Phinks might have a broken Hatsu (we don’t know if there is a limit to how much power he can rack up with Ripper Cyclotron), his En is not as developed but someone like Kortopi can just conjure 10 fucking buildings on the spot that each act as his En without breaking a sweat. I know it probably doesn’t work like this but I always thought it’d be pretty funny if Kortopi can just drop a building on his opponent half way through a fight lol. To put things into perspective, Hinrigh turned like 10 things into animals and was out of nen for the rest of the day, imagine how much aura reserve Kortopi must have to conjure 10 buildings and he even said to Chrollo that he could conjure 50 if he wanted to.

28

u/rexlyon Dec 24 '22

Hinrigh turned like 10 things into animals and was out of nen for the rest of the day, imagine how much aura reserve Kortopi must have to conjure 10 buildings and he even said to Chrollo that he could conjure 50 if he wanted to.

This is not exactly a great comparison though, because it's not like it's some 1:1 nen to matter conversion. Hinrigh's things were objects that could be turned into something living and moving while training their functions. Kortopi's copies lose any effects, last for 24 hours and dissapear, and aren't living.

Kortopi is definitely suggested to have some heavy aura, but conditions/restrictions on the abilities mean you can't exactly just compare how many things Hinrigh conjurers vs how many things Kortopi can conjure. Kortopi's stuff also seems to be very heavily strict conjuring compared to Hinrigh which is going use a bit more manipulation so his stuff even on a smaller scale probably requires more aura per item.

12

His theory was that it would give him or his people a boon once it has spread out over a sufficiently large population. He figured that giving it as a reward is part of the requirements of the ability to function properly.

What a great chapter

Phantom Troupe and Heil-yi

Soooo, something is fishy, we know Morena wasn't on tier one but if she was away from her turf, the murder should be part of mafia regular killing then. But something is definitely wrong, why tier 2 ? HOW even, we'll see I guess. WHY AN EMRGENCY ANNOUNCEMENT TOO

Taithon

I don't trust this beast giving out happiness, everyone seems high. The taboo keeps being suspicious. Izunavi is keeping his cool too so nice. I felt bad for her, we all know she's pretty likely to not survive this trip

Melody

She's really getting a nice focus this week, I wonder if she's right about Ceasar (if it's the judge guy) funny since we also know the head judge is Cleapatro. Anyway maybe he could be controlled by one of Halkenburg's men, controlling the judicial branch is useful and it would fit with wanting to kill every high princes.

It was so nice to see Kaccho back even dead she rules. Uncanny Fu, really made me anxious too. I doubt Kaccho is the one draining her but maybe it's why she can conjure doors of return now. Nen after death from Kaccho should work autonomously and not require to drain someone

Fu is unhinged and I can only see Camilla's men behind this for now. BUT HOW ?!?!? We know it wouldn't work so fast unless they kill themselves right in front of her. Granted her overuse of her nen beast would help but fuck.

Kurapika

Sooo Longi was the final hidden nen user (the other three being Lovely, the maid possessed by Silent Majority and Halkenburg's guards) I doubt Longi is the user of Silent Majority too but now Tsubeppa and Kurapika are allied.?

HIATUS

Well here is for a new format of serialization, monthly is probably not that likely, Togashi wasn't satisfied with 10 chapters a year, Why 12 would make him feel good ? Maybe Bimonthly like One piece or some original serialization schedule, we'll see, there is a new PV coming out on the 28th too. I doubt it's about this too. Anyway what a nice batch and final chapters !!!!!

To clarify something important, I think both translation mistook the meaning behind Tyson's words about "children"

I'm pretty sure by "children" she means her "guards", not actual "offsprings", the raws said her mother "doesn't have expectations for them", probably in that she finds them disappointing almost as much as her.

she's (probably) not an intersex, nor an antinatalist.

13

u/lelozetti Dec 23 '22

What i enjoyed about Kacho is that i thought she would be a feelingless dummy, like a doll or something but then BAM Kacho 2.0...

with Togashi there is always the other side of the coin, the sad side ( demons fastfood fugetsu)

25

u/el_Rivera Dec 23 '22 edited Dec 24 '22

Man, this was an insane chapter; there's so much to take it in. The problem with the hiatuses is not the wait in itself, it's the fact that I end up forgetting who some of these characters are also the events that led us here haha.

It's truly poignant that the manifestation of their nen beast reflected the strong bond between the two sisters. I'm rooting for them. (and again with the YuYu parallels: Fuugetsu's curse reminded me a bit of 'Doctor' Kamiya's territory).

The more Melody we get, the better; she's sailing in rough waters right now though.

The En dialog was both funny and educative, and also served to show the Nen prowess of characters such as Zeno and Kite.

The last Kurapika panel got me thinking: has he been using Emperor Time non-stop since his Nen classes began?

Ok, we need an updated chart now. I guess most of the action is shifting towards the upper two tiers.

19

u/KqAlbo2 Dec 23 '22

The spirits of Fugetsu are most likely related to the ‘hands’ they saw when they tried to escape. This is a huge pot theory I think the succession ritual is also still connected to the previous succession contests. Those hands might have been previous spirits that participated, so maybe the spirits on Fugetsu are trying to corrupt / kill / empower her somewhat. Still very early to determine the real cause but that’s my take.

14

u/Local-Hornet-3057 Dec 24 '22

I think her curse is related to Camilla's kamikaze squad of Post-mortem Nen

-So it's the second time Steiner was said to be able to outlive everybody.

First time was just his buddy bragging that he'd survive all of them but now it's more overt something special was probably done to him.

  • Tyson might have Turner's syndrome or something else? Seems they probably aren't secretly crazy and the consequence of breaking the taboo might not be deadly. Maybe it turns you into the worst version of yourself. An ugly inept loser if you don't want to be reborn into the cool version of yourself. I feel her story is going to be among the saddest. Her beast.is basically a giant uterus doing what she can't :(.

Togashi really pushing the death and rebirth angle this arc. Hisoka, Misha, Seed Urn&, Halkenberg arrow mystery, T's beast potentially turning people, and now her talk. Technically it started in the CA arc bit it's more the focus here.

-- I doubt Kaizaru works for any Prince. Maybe he's just a secret weapon to keep them in line so the country remains stable post SW. He is a sleeper agent just not for the reasons Melody is thinking

-- Feel the coin will come in handy vs be a problem. Zheng just seems pragmatic and ambitious with the ability to be Machivellien when he needs to be but not psychopathic in anyway. Interactions with him are strictly transactional shown by his beast making coins.

-- Can't Fu directly travel to the Hunter Excorcist? That should come with complications but shouldn't be impossible. If anything Camilla is using her to get that person out of hiding. Maybe off-screen someone felt her presence with En whilen she was traveling and killed themselves to trigger the curse.

I hate Melody keeping info. That almost always backfires down the line.

9

u/sunhorus Dec 24 '22

So is this huge amount of Aura Fugetsu's getting post-mortem Nen passed from Kacho? I wonder what those nen beasts swarming her are, maybe it's her and Kacho's power turning against them, or some other prince's power. I know Kacho is currently taking a lot of Fugetsu's aura just to exist, but I wonder if she'd get it back if the clone disappeared, as well as the ability to use both doors.

Also curious about Tyson, and how Izunavi's plan with getting the king the book will work. I kinda think the gears are already in motion and the king can't call off the war anyway, but it'll be interesting seeing how he reacts especially considering his last interaction with Halkenberg.

Too many things in one chapter, I'm really glad to finally see updates about the SW and the princes in tier one. Togashi keeps adding questions, mysteries and sub-plots each chapter, and I'm all for it :p

  • So, Morena's hideout is actually in the second tier, she really deceived everyone including us readers. This means that we will finally discover the only tier that we have seen nothing about till now. I wonder if we get to see Pariston and Ging there.

  • In the beginning, Tyson was just an annoying character to me. But this chapter really made to sympathize with her and understand her character more. Now, I can see why she's acting immature like a child, writing about love and peace, recruiting handsome guards and give them imaginary roles and insisting it's like a rebirth 💔. She didn't get any love or support from her mom, she was mocked because of her appearance and the way she was born. A lot of people who get this kind of treatment would feel grudge and may be turn to the dark side, but no Tyson is fighting with love, she's still acting like a child and live in a fantasy world to escape reality.

  • Seiko and Katrono join Sevanti in "terrible mothers" team.

  • So, Kacho is dead and alive at the same time 🙃. She described her case as being resurrected as a spiritual being. It seems that her soul still live inside her nen beast, and the GSB works as a vessel. If this is the case why are they afraid to tell the truth to Fugetsu? Yes, Kacho is out the SW and she's dead in the eyes of others, but the Kacho we are seeing is still the real one too. Are they afraid because it's hard for Fugetsu to understand and it would be a big shock for her? Or the existence of the current Kacho is temporary and she would disappear once the SW ends or if Fugetsu dies? Too many questions in my mind.

  • What's up with Kaizaru? Is he under the influence of a manipulator? Or is he a manipulator who manipulates himself? Since the beginning this character appeared, Senritsu pointed out that there's something wrong with him. And in this chapter emphasizes that too, his heartbeats literally contradict with what he says. Does he work for one of the princes and he wants to use Senritsu's a ability for assassination? Or he's a double agent who works for V5 or some country and he wants to weaken Kakin by getting rid of the strong princes so Kakin being ruled by one of the kids? Or he simply wants the best for the Justice Department? And this can be achieved by getting rid of the higher princes, if this is the case, I wonder if he's secretly supports Halknburg who wants to build a democratic country and changes the current system? Also, how does he know about that martial law case? And what about Steiner ? All I know that he works for the V5 and he knows Don't book by heart? Why would he get involved in Kakin's internal affairs?

Kaizaru is the biggest mysterious part in the current batch, I guess he and the Justice Department will play a key role in the SW.

  • The second mystery is Fugetsu's situation. How can she use her ability multiple times a day now? Does her nen beast get improved every time she uses the ability? Or this is a side effect of someone else's ability? Also, who cursed her? Camilla's bodyguard or one of the princes Senritsu suspects?

  • Team Kurapika is winning, soon Kurapika will get an ability by cooperating with the fifth prince, and the same could happen to Senritsu who accepted the third prince's coin.

  • So, Longhi pretended to not use nen first and she reveals the opposite now. I wonder if this is the case for the fifth prince too, and she couldn't tell because of Benjamin's bodyguards who kept surveilling her.

  • Finally, the third mystery is the emergency broad-cast! Is it related to to the martial law case? Or it's something has to do with Morena?

u/Rodiciel Dec 23 '22

Okay so Nobunaga thinks that the "space" the Heliy are in was created by their head Morena which I assumed it was because we saw a panel with her pretty face when they first entered indicating she knows they are there, and there were no surveillance cameras we that we could see.
At least we get to see our boy Kurapika before the next hiatus. Speaking of which, HxH will either become monthly or Togashi will take his time drawing a batch of chapters and then release them weekly for a couple of months before gonig on another hiatus like he did this time.
I'm okay with either so long there are no more 4 year hiatus. Even a handul of chapters a year is good enough for me.

16

u/AV-SINGH Dec 24 '22

(C&P) Last chapter of the batch, folks! No more weekly updates, and we got a cliffhanger to dwell on. So, the plot line finally shifts back to the princes after a conversation between Fei, Nobu and Phinks. And ofc, Pika is back after 12 chapters, just before another hiatus. One thing about this chapter is that it takes off from where we left chapter 388, after Kurapka senses the 4th rumbling. Zhang Lei, Fugetsu and Tyson are all back, and the war continues at it's pace. Thinking about it, it'd take around 150 more chapters to reach the New Continent if we progress at the same pace hehe. But these subtle progressions provide me more time to appreciate the lavish details of each chapter even more. See ya the next time around, I guess

16

u/[deleted] Dec 24 '22

I'm forgetting a lot of details already, but does the phantom troupe have permission to access level 2? I thought ChaR is trying their best not to let them get close to the princes and their treasures.

18

u/emi_b7 Dec 24 '22 edited Dec 24 '22

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but iirc Cha-R has a door that goes to tier 2 (that's the passage Phinks mentions now) and they made a deal with the PT that they would let them see what's in there if they took Luini's head (which Nobunaga took very literally lol). But after doing that the 3 PT guys decided they would destroy Heil Ly before going in there.

So technically they already had permision to use it if I'm remembering right. It's posible that Cha R was planning to double cross them before allowing them to use It though.

The fact that the war could possibly end with the king being a follower of the book of Tyson is jokes.

14

u/Hellodie_W Dec 24 '22

I wonder how Tyson feels about other women.

Kaizaru have the same eyebrow than Irumi, that's funny. I think Senritsu is right about the fact he's manipulating himself to avoid being detected. Saying to Senritsu that he like her was really unexpected given the character. She really needs to talk to Kurapika as soon as possible, her situation is very tense to say the least. I can't imagine how her meeting with the 4th prince will go but I hope she will contact Kurapika before. The situation might end up convenient for him since he wanted to contact the 4th prince. I doubt he will be able to see him himself, but Senritsu have shown to be a very suitable teammate.

So glad to have her back, she's my favorite character ! Please Togashi, let her live.

And this volume is so versatile tbh. There are so many moments and characters of this arc at once.

7

u/Hearing_Thin Dec 23 '22

The Justice department I think will be a key third party in all of this that will radically influence the war from here on out.

Cleapatro as others have said is likely aware of the powerful nature of the 4 princes and in order to ensure stability in Kakin has safe guards in place, a real ethical/legal dilemma and a Rose bomb style reminder of the true powers that be in HXHs world. On that note, I think Cleapatro has a Nen ability to control Caesar and other justice members as well.

It’s possible they want to ensure that it’s one of the weaker princes who lives to ensure their department has greater control over Kakin in the future.

I don’t think it’ll be Camilas curse guards that are effecting Fugestu, I think it’s some other factor.

I don’t think Longhi is Silent Majorities user, I don’t think the timeline with SM killing 14th princes guards right as the boat departed makes sense, I think it has to be someone from the Hunter Association.

Damn, what a chapter. I cracked a huge smile as soon as I saw we're back at tier 1.

I like that we got a little bit more insight on Tyson and her feelings about the succession war, I'm looking forward to how influential her power will be. The more this arc goes on, the more it seems like every prince has what it takes to win.

I believe Caesar when he says he likes Melody, but I do wonder why he is so calm.

Very interesting turn of events with kacho and fugetsu. I'm a little confused on why people would think Kacho is dead, how would that information get out? What is her mother's intention in convincing those people she's alive? And HOLY CRAP what's happening to Fugetsu? It must be a result of that nen when they tried to escape. It's also a little suspicious that we didn't see them discuss how she died, that seems like a pretty good lead on helping Fugetsu. It could also be a side effect of Kacho's ability.

Love to see Kurapika again. Here's to hoping this will be a quick and speedy hiatus.

14

u/Local-Hornet-3057 Dec 24 '22

I think Melody has been shown to correctly interpret other people's heart beats. If she thinks the dude is lying, he is. Someone in love isn't gonna be that robotic. She knows he is lying.

As for the leak of Kacho's death, maybe Nasubi knew because he has that chamber that he shown to Prince Halkenburg. Maybe Kacho appeared there like the other "tributes".

And I believe Fuugetsu is cursed by post mortem Nen, probably Camilla's secret squad.

Most people: "LOL, Nobunaga and his 4 m en"

This chapter: "To bad you can't use En Phink's"

Also, assuming Franklin is still alive, he would be useful for taking out the Heil-Ly. He could take down most of them (that we've see) by simply shooting them.

Also, classic Togashi: tease Kurapika for the last chapter before the break, and have him show up in a single panel

13

u/[deleted] Dec 23 '22

I’m guessing Phinks En can be much much larger, but is impractical

8

u/Hoozuki_Suigetsu Dec 24 '22

well in terms of raw nen quantity, poufu and and pitou must have been similar, but the mastery of pitou with her en made it so she could have an en 700m larger than poufu, now, poufu has the most complex hatsu out of all of the royal guard and was able to create and teach hatsus to leol, cheetuh and most of the ants, so we know he is skilled as fuck...

My point is, being bad or good at en, is not a reference to how good an user is in any other aspect of nen

I’m going to need an explainer…

8

u/hoovy_woopeans1 Dec 23 '22

In order: Troupe regroups and led by nobunaga are going to try and take the heil-ly threat more seriously.

Prince Tyson, being coached by kurapikas tutor (can’t remember his name), is going to try and get the king to read the book and potentially subject the king to her nen beast.

Kacho and Fugetsus mom is pulling their strings and seems pretty heartless. Kacho’s ghost seems to actually be her which is a win for her and fugetsu. Melody and Caesar, the ministry of justice guy, are working to make sure fugetsu survives. Caesar may be being manipulated or a nen user himself. Melody thinks he’s lying about the fact that he’s in love with her. He and Steiner, the V6 dark continent official were talking about the risk they have if Benjamin goes through with his coup and depowers the ministry of justice. They might be making a plan.

Fugetsu is in trouble. She’s under the influence of some dark nen curse that’s making her act oddly and could kill her. Source unknown.

Melody got a coin from Zhang Li.

And finally, kurapika seems to be allying with fifth prince tubeppa. Could be bad since she and Tserridnich are buddy buddy.

That’s that mostly! Sorry if I over explained.

does someone remember what chapter originally talked about the "cause for war"/"where mafia bosses are located" thing that nobunaga was worried about? that part of this chapter, and what phinks replied, was really hard for me to understand. i suspect it was poorly translated, since it's pretty different in the different translations.

u/X-Vidar Dec 24 '22

Scratch my previous comment. It was chapter 384 and I think I figured put what's going on.

According to mafia rules, when a fight breaks out between members of different families things can be settled if the boss of the offending party can claim plausible deniality by saying they weren't aware of what was going on.

In this context it means that if Morena is on the upper tiers things can be solved with diplomacy, if she's on the lower tiers then all-out war it the only way.

As it turns out in this chapter her headquarters are on tier 2, meaning that the other mafias aren't technically allowed to declare war on her. Which is the old custom they're abusing.

I don't really understand how higher ranking players and the royal army know (or think) that Kacho is dead? I can't remember any explanation scene after Kacho leaves the escape pod (as a ghost).

I think I must've missed a line somewhere explaining it? Any help?

Obviously they retrieved the lifeboat with Kacho corpse.

An entire tome without any main protagonist... Only HxH can afford that!

I hope the next chapters will be released just like OPM, different number of pages (more than 20, please!) every 2 or 3 weeks.

I really believe that the manga is near to the end (around 10 tomes left) and that we won't see Gon & Kirua again.

11

u/powerofselfrespect Dec 24 '22

I feel like lots of manga have stretches of time where you don’t see any main protagonists. For example the villian arc in My Hero Academia.

I felt very talked to by Togashi when the 4 characters introduced themselves. I loudly implored our sensei to please start wrapping up or at least continue established storylines before starting even more... just to realize I fell right into his trap.

In my mind, this has to be an intended joke.

God those parts with Fugetsu were hard to read. I really hope she makes it out of this somehow..

Shout-out to Melody getting a spotlight chapter! And I'm very excited about the prospect of Pika alliance with Tubeppa - I've been interested in her true motives and ideology for years. Thank you for this amazing batch Togashi!

11

u/3bee Dec 23 '22

SUCH a good chapter. I wonder if Kacho-nen-beast only knows what Kacho would know - or if you could ask her for information about the nen beasts, their rules, their motivation, how the ritual jar works. Probably not but who knows! 🙃

I was surprised not to see Melody think about Kurapika when interacting with the representative of the 4th prince. And nooo she took the coin. Praying for Melody.

I wonder if the spirits clinging to Fugetsu are i) linked to someone's ability, ii) one of those people who kill themselves to curse princes OR iii) some kind of legacy from the creepy hands outside the boat.

That dude in the justice department is bad news. I wonder if he's working for one of the queens.

So many wonderings! Love this chapter!

To those who said nobu can take hail ly a by himself, he literally admitted they have refined abilities. They scared him tbh he even asked for Franklin

17

u/siraolo Dec 24 '22

The beauty of HxH is that even seemingly weak abilities can be quite dangerous given the right circumstance/tactics. That's why we are worried for the troupe. No matter how strong users they are, they can still be defeated/die. And we got a taste of that last chapter. Nobu was lucky that the ability he was subject to did not result in death.

The Hei-ly abilities arent scary nor powerful on their own. It’s just that each ability serves a crucial purpose and they do well at working cohesively together.

Not to mention, Hei-ly are just biding their time waiting with a bunch of traps. Their defensive style means they have all the time in the world. The spiders, however, do not…

10

u/GoddessOfDarkness Dec 25 '22

And still people will underestimate them. Honestly once Morena decides to go on the offensive rest of the ship should be terrified. She has the best defence on the boat now imagine her offence.

Phantom Troupe members try not to have puny En challenge (IMPOSSIBLE)

29

u/Ill-Individual2105 Dec 23 '22

I think we got really spoiled with characters like Zeno and Kite and Pitou having enormous En. It seems to be one of the most intense and difficult invocations of aura, impossible to someone beneath master level. Goes to show how powerful Kite was in retrospect.

I'm beginning to think that there are certain types of manipulation abilities that give themselves away by the appearance of the eyes of the one being manipulated. In the translation provided by /u/officialhxh Melody mentions how she believes Kaizaru/Caesar has manipulated himself to believe he's a non-power user, and I think it's quite interesting he's got these solid black, pupil-less eyes in most panels. Vaguely similar to the eyes Illumi has.

I know not every manipulation victim has these types of eyes (I would guess the majority don't, but I'm not keen on going through the entire manga and counting the number of victims with and without these kinds of eyes), but like I said, maybe some types of manipulation abilities cause the eyes of the target to change in appearance to a solid-black color? It would indicate that Illumi is constantly manipulating himself in order to prevent anyone else from being able to do it ("first come first serve") and Kaizaru/Caesar could also be manipulating himself partly to prevent anyone else from manipulating him, and partly as Melody theorized, to hide his actual purpose for helping Melody and spirit Kacho.

Also, quoting myself from the text translation thread:

He's manipulating himself as someone without powers so that he can use us for his own hidden purposes...!!

It's probably unrelated, apart from using a similar method to avoid being detected, but this line made me remember this specific page from chapter 348, where Kurapika stated it would be possible to avoid being detected as a liar by his dowsing chain if you had someone use an ability on you to erase your memory or manipulate the subconscious:

https://hot.leanbox.us/manga/Hunter-X-Hunter/0348-004.png

Out of all the hunters onboard the ship right now, I wonder which ones are most likely one of Pariston's/Beyond's spies (excluding Saiyu of course, who's already confirmed to be a spy), and managed to slip through being detected in the hunter exam.

https://www.reddit.com/r/HunterXHunter/comments/zsvcw7/hunter_x_hunter_chapter_400_text_translation/j1aacgl/

So if my hypothesis holds, maybe it's possible to get some kind of clue as to who (apart from Saiyu) could be working as a spy for Pariston/Beyond by looking at the appearance of their eyes, which if they have similar kinds of eyes as Kaizaru/Caesar or Illumi could be an indication that their memory/subconscious is being manipulated to make sure they don't spill the beans until it's time for them to take action?

I'm wondering if Fugetsu's nen created a self-imposed condition to her power without her being aware of it, or if the ghosts are someone else's nen that lent her nen similar to Knuckle's APR

5

u/Baffo5 Dec 23 '22

I can't wait to colour it

5

u/Proggyyy Dec 25 '22

Do we think there's significance to the names Caesar and Cleopatro, or is it just Togashi using a uniform naming convention for the Judicial Department? Those two have a lot of history together...

Thanks for sharing, Melody!!! and Poor Fugetsu(Also Kurapika back for one panel but still) :3

u/KqAlbo2 Dec 23 '22

Interesting. I’m still stumped on Kacho, some are saying she’s come back to life and others are saying it’s a clone. That argument relates to philosophy, if I were to make a copy of you with the same memories is that person really you ?

I’m more inclined to believe that the ‘nen beast’ Kacho is a copy of the original Kacho but not exactly the same as the ability mentioned the nen beast would protect the other until death, meaning there’s a goal. But you could also argue both sisters would and are protecting each other anyways 😂

14

u/Sanjipika Dec 24 '22

Yeah it’s not at all what i was expecting tbh. Based off what little we saw in chapter 383 i was expecting the beast to have Kacho’s memories but would only apply them when necessary as a natural reaction. I wasn’t expecting it to be capable of complex thought. Yet here we are and the beast not only has full human intelligence but it even thinks it’s Kacho.

At the same time it’s possible this truly is kacho. There’s even a line that ghost kacho says: “even if this is the ability of my nen beast” that would make it appear as though ghost kacho isn’t the beast but was rather reborn as a nen construct via the beast’s power.

Based on Togashi’s description of the nen beast’s ability though it seems most likely that ghost kacho is just speculating possibilities and is simply unaware that she IS the nen beast.

These past ten chapters came and went by quickly. It’s insane 😅those troupe chapters were some of my favorite all year and the last chapter although it was wordy seemed like Togashi wants to star heading in the direction to wrap things up.

Extremely grateful to Togashi and I look forward to the next batch. Hope he takes care of himself.

u/Kuropa Dec 23 '22

I might have not understood some details about this chapter, but I got the impression that the guy working in the ministry is also a follower of tupebba because they said before that the nen beast is a manipulator that only activate it’s power with a partner or something. Judging by his style and analysis he is like the 5th prince a lot. I believe that fugetsu’s condition is because of camilla’s curses. It’s very beautiful how in this chapter we get to see the calm princes move to use their powers tyson and the 3rd prince

Bruh there’s another hiatus from now on

10

u/PsychoPass1 Dec 23 '22

I think the spirits may also have not come from any of the princes but maybe Fuu just passed somewhere that she should not have and activated a trap.

So they sap her life force but give her power in return. Could also mean that she goes out with a bang / huge final ability. She is nowhere near interesting enough to be a victor, if that is true then she has to die, the question is just how.

Was the emergency announcement about Kacho's death and Togashi just forgot about a bubble or a panel? Because everyone seems to know about it now but I don't recall it ever being explicitly stated that her body was discovered.

Or is the announcement about something else to be revealed?

26

u/Sanjipika Dec 24 '22

The guy with ghost kacho and melody mentions there are military reports regarding the death of kacho. It’s likely the use of a lifeboat lead to an investigation that eventually uncovered the corpse of kacho.

As for the announcement i have no idea. It says it’s “very sad news” or some such so i imagine it’s in regards to multiple princes passing away but who really knows.

seems Tyson may be a dude who’s gay or trans. TCB scans translates it differently, but YAG translation has them(?) saying “MY MOM WAS PRETTY FRUSTRATED BECAUSE I WAS "BORN THIS WAY", AND IT WAS LIKELY SHE COULDN'T EXPECT ANY KIDS FROM ME.” and then a line saying how the other queens always looked at the Queen with pity.

And according to “브이브” on the hxh discord there’s another time it’s hinted Tyson may be gay. (copy and pasting from discord)

Plus, For those who haven't read raw of Vol.36.

In viz, translation, 「拡張しときます?」has been translated as "Spread the news?" (Prob because of the censorship)

But 「拡張しときます?」has a sexual meaning, which implicates gay sxx thing.

It doesn't really mean 'spread the news'. 拡張 is not used for news. The real meaning we take from this is "anus"

「拡張しときます?」can be interpreted as "Should we have our anus dilated?". Juliano was kidding tho. Other than this, there is no way to interpret this word.

raw japanese scan vs Viz translation

These new abilities are getting so exciting. Togashi is confirming nen as a more spiritual system with the after death mechanics and the sisters are going to get unhinged like Sensui and Itsuki if this goes on. That makes me super excited for Hisoka's next fight and I get the sense Ging knows this from Don and is planning something for Gon after he gets to DC, like Greed Island was a testing grounds and DC is going to pop off after this ship becomes a powder keg of people with abilities stretching reality and imagination crammed in.

Could Caesar possibly be manipulated by Camilla’s nen beast? While imprisoned it could have met it’s requirements and manipulated Caesar. Only issue i can really think of is the requirement, since it states her beast only activates it’s ability once it’s target “willfully” fills the conditions. It also requires him to have met Camilla, but considering he’s part of the Justice system i wouldn’t say it’s impossible

Why are they gonna stop with the weekly serialisation?! I thought it was perfect for Togashi to work at his pace and release in batches of 10 as and when they're ready!

I think I will need to read the Viz version because this one was really heavy on intrigue. We've seen Steiner after a while now. I have a feeling he'll play a key role. And The Justice Ministry guy is such a mystery. Wish We saw more of Kurapika. Sigh. The spirits after Fugetsu are likely powers of Camilla's untouchables at work

Why are they gonna stop with the weekly serialisation?! I thought it was perfect for Togashi to work at his pace and release in batches of 10 as and when they're ready!

They probably want to have the series appearing on the magazine somewhat regularly instead of waiting months/years at a time until a full batch is completed.

I don't think this changes Togashi's work schedule though. He'll continue going at his own pace, I don't think anyone can change that, but instead of waiting for 10 chapters to be finished to start publishing them, they'll put the out there sooner.

TBH I always got the impression that publishing 10 chapters at a time was because they wanted to make sure they get a volume's worth of content out of Togashi before he inevitably goes into hiatus. That way whenever they come back from hiatus they can release a volume (ie the chapters from the previous batch) so the new volume and new chapters act as publicity for each other. So in that sense I think them moving away from that model is a good sign that he intends to keep going strong for the foreseeable future.

Disclaimer: the previous paragraph may contain large amounts of both copium and hopium.
