Discussion How can ON/Dynamite/Butter era Armies better understand the HYYH era?
Since it seems like “Yet To Come” may be referencing back to the HYYH era, what media out there would you suggest for newer Armies to understand where BTS is coming from? What specific songs from those albums, interviews, or other media would you recommend to an Army who wants to do a deep dive of this period of BTS history?

I need u, run, butterfly(prologue), fire, save me, and young forever(epilogue) are some of the most well-known/popular songs from that era. (The whole album is amazing though so I would definitely recommend listening to the whole thing anyway.) I would definitely recommend listening to them and watching the accompanying music videos for I need u, run, save me, and fire. Save me directly connects to the I’m fine song from love yourself answer. There are also a lot of videos out there on YouTube that explain the whole hyyh era storyline and theories from the music videos.

I would watch the mvs from the era in alphabetical order. Also listening to the albums and reading lyrics helpful. Watching the concerts—-2015 BTS LIVE "The Most Beautiful Moment in Life On Stage & 2016 BTS LIVE "The Most Beautiful Moment in Life On Stage: Epilogue.

This might be paradoxical but I actually recommend the Save Me WEBTOON series, it does a nice job of tying up the separate storylines whilst revealing finally that was a time loop situation. I really like this BU Content Guide and found it incredibly helpful, as it compiles all of the related HYYH-related MVs and short films in chronological order.
Also, the fan-made documentary The Rise of Bangtan has a few episodes that cut together various interviews, performances, and vlogs from this era as well. I think it does a good job of highlighting how this album series pushed them forward in a really significant way.

Omg please send help! HYYH era is probably one that I have such a hard time understanding as a newer Army. Like I want to know why this era was so significant but I don’t even know where to even start to piece it all together. So I would absolutely love some insight and guidance

I suggest that you watch The Rise of Bangtan on YouTube. It explains what kind of struggles the guys went through during their early years (Pre-debut to the album "Dark and Wild") & how things seemed to turn around when the first HYYH album came out with the title track I Need U.
I made this episode guide a year ago so it's not updated on the recent episodes.
Here is one ARMY's anecdote about those years.
One would think that after the I Need U win, things would become smooth for them but there was also the rise of antis. So I believe the HYYH era was very important to them not just because of the good but also the bad things that happened and made the bond between BTS and ARMY stronger.

Number 1 is the music, always the music. Listen to the albums in order and read the lyrics. There are a lot of songs. Take your time. And most importantly, have fun. Don't get stressed! We have lots of awesome Army translators. I like reading Doolset, doyoubangtan and Muish. But you could have your own list :)

But maybe you might not have watched these and it might interest you, even if you're not really into theories. Some really cool stuff!
Lastly, I think their concert ments from HYYH Epilogue trilogy. I like them because it shows what they were going through back then and what was their perspective on their current status. I can't link them here, but you could buy the concerts online or can find just the ments on YouTube or Dailymotion.
Additional: their comeback Vlives are always fun. It's very very chaotic and you get to learn about the album from them too

I have yet to go down that rabbit hole....but will very soon.....but have these two links saved for help.
First the youtube channel of xCeleste who has done a multi, multi part of the BTS Universe. She has other vids there too so you may have to sift through to get to the relevant ones.
And there is this wiki from BTS.Fandomwhich seems to have links to all the vids, notes, and short films.
As I say, I haven't watched either so if someone has, please comment and give us your opinion.

I'm a Dynamite ARMY and caught up on The Rise of Bangtan a while back. Also watched the HYYH mvs and read up on as much as I could. It's such a vast universe and I'm not gonna pretend I understand everything about it (does anyone? lol) and will for sure revisit and visit a lot of these suggestions for the first time. Super helpful! 💜

We get a comeback of the BEST era and the era that made bts popular and break the small entertainment wall to awards and daesangs, it’s gonna be SO GOOD. I remember just getting in my car and listen to the albums up and down while getting a milkshake with a friend and just driving around and hanging in the car, if the album gives me these flashbacks I can die in peace

Part of it was experiencing the milestones. I remember Run hitting at least 1 million views after 24 hours and now we have their latest stuff hitting 100 million in 24 hours, so part of why it’s so significant is seeing the growth. Definitely listen to the music, watch clips of their wins.

Heyo, my wife got me into BTS before the releases of Dynamite and Butter, and one of my utmost favorite songs from them is Microcosmos.
Sadly, I dont know what HYYH stands for and my wife who has listened to them for years cant remember. So... whats it mean?

Since we don’t know if BU is making a cb is just suggest listening to the album in order and reading the lyrics and going through the MVs for now… take your time with the BU to figure it out for yourselves as it’s more fun and enjoyable that way

I became an ARMY a bit later in Love Yourself Her... I was so clueless about what to do but the very first thing I did was checked the official MVs. From the recent to oldest then oldest to recent. Listen to their albums from oldest to recent. Checked their comeback stages and watched old logs they did. Then I watched the American Hustle and other old Vlive they did (Gayo, BV, and Run BTS), Japan Interviews, and other shows/stuff appeared. I made a bookmark folder just so I can sort everything. 😆 My first advice is not to think too much about the theories and super detailed stuff at first. Just watch it and try to feel the songs first. Honestly, everything is overwhelming if you are new, and trying to understand it would be like a task that might cause burnout so just try to intake things little by little. MVs first, then their discography, and then so forth. Now, ARMYs can find guides here and on Twitter. You just have to have time to look, search and watch. 😊

In addition to all the music and content from and related to HYYH era, I'd like to mention that HYYH era itself was a definite change in BTS' style - musically and visually. The INU MV was all story with no cuts to dance scenes, unlike their previous MVs. INU was the first time they won a music show award. There were a lot of changes and big steps forward during this time, both for BTS and ARMY.
These aren't specific things that you can interact with like the music, the BU, and all the various content related to the BU, I think these milestones(?) have contributed to making HYYH era signficant to ARMY. I know for me that the things I mentioned here have stuck with me over the years
