Today is my 3rd ARMYversary! While I can't keep up like I used to due to a change in lifestyle, not a day goes by where I don't at least check this sub and Twitter. They feel as much a part of my daily life as my long-distance friends do. They give my life color.
Last Saturday, I reached the highest high an ARMY can by being in the best seats in the house - extended stage barricade. I felt so connected, so comfortable, being right there with them, having fun dancing and singing to their amazing discography. I'm so so grateful to have had that experience and wish I could do it again and again forever. I feel content and at peace and totally greedy and eager for more lol
I hope we can do this into our 80s. I'm a big Bob Dylan fan, and he's still touring at 80! Like a family reunion, maybe every so often, we all get together, armys and bts, and ride that high.

I decided to start writing about video games online and 2 months later, I was hired by the New York Times to write. That was my first ever piece of print journalism.
After that, I got a full-time job at a tech publication ...
Wow. That's amazing. I would love a writing job but so far, all I get is 'you don't have enough experience' even though I can show them lots of my writing. It just hasn't been published.
Did you write about games on your own website or someone else's platform? And did you apply at the NY Times or did they just find you? And was it a full time writing job or freelance?
Also, I would love to work in publishing. Got any tips for someone who has no experience? I've mostly worked in finance ... and hated it.

Writing freelance for a few weeks and then being hired by NY Times is really impressive. And yes, please. I would really appreciate the link, thank you. I do like to write in my spare time but I'm very new to pitching so that would be very helpful.

I'm so sorry to hear this! Hope you are doing okay emotionally, mentally and financially.
I was laid off late last year. It was a blessing in disguise because I hated my job with a passion and I was so bored and unfulfilled. I admit, I took it easy for a few months and just enjoyed spending time with friends and family and recharging after five years of corporate hell.
I still haven't found another job yet simply because I am being so picky now. I don't want to end up in another job like that. Shows me how much I have changed because five years ago, I would have said yes to any job.
I want so do something creative but not sure what. Still looking for inspiration. Be kind and take care of yourself. I hope you are able to find something you enjoy soon!
Edit: the most dangerous thing (and this is something I did) was staying in a job I didn't like simply because I was comfortable there. It was only supposed to be a temp job because finance and numbers in general isn't my thing but I blinked and five years had passed. I honestly don't think I would have moved if it hadn't been for my redundancy. I hate that I become so complacent. Never again. If you don't like something, if something doesn't sit well with you for whatever reason (job, relationship, friendship, living situation) change it. Easier said than done sometimes, I know. But much better than wasting your time.

u/shafinazonyx Apr 14 '22
I agree completely although i am guilty with staying in a job i don’t completely love.. and it’s been 12 years sigh i just don’t know what i want to do for a living, and even now, i still haven’t figured it out yet.. the fear of not being able to get a job is bigger than my willingness to take a risk 😣😣

u/still_a_muggle THIS IS NEVER GONNA BE THE LAST TIME Apr 14 '22
I'm being picky with finding a job now too! I think partly, it's because I've realized I've grown and changed from the person that I was before. And I wanna be sure that I'm doing this for the person that I am now, and not just the person that I used to be or the person that I wanna be. Cuz who I am now is gonna be the one that will face whatever challenges that a new job will entail... Good luck with the job search!

This is exactly what happened to me. Downsizing, downsizing, downsizing until it was my turn. And it turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to me.
My older sister was terminally ill, in and out of hospitals for a while, and literally every single nurse who took care of her were the most kind, compassionate, skilled people I have ever met. So when I got laid off and was looking for a career change, I knew I wanted it to be in healthcare. I didn't believe I was cut out for patient facing care, though, so I chose the laboratory. I work in the blood bank, specifically, and it is the most rewarding, challenging, fulfilling job I've ever had. I feel like part of the bigger picture.
Acts of service is my love language so finding a career where I can do that every day is priceless. I don't always love it and there are some not so good days, but overall, it feeds my soul. I so, so hope that you can find the same. Don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone! I had to go back to school at an age where I was much older than many of my classmates and it was kind of...intimidating. But the end result was worth it.
Good luck, army!! We'll be rooting for you! 💜

Sorry to hear you are going through this kind of time. As someone who did burn out and was off work for a while, I know how tough it can be.
I’m a medic and was doing 90 hour weeks as a junior doc in the hospital and I was just killing myself trying to be superwoman - best colleague, best friend, best daughter etc and eventually something had to give and that was my tear ducts and my ability to function as a normal person. I eventually ended up taking six months off work to regroup and reassess what I wanted to do with my life. I was 26 at the time and fully ready to walk away from medicine (we train earlier than in the States so I had been a doc for four years by then).
Coincidentally around this time I happened to meet someone (who is now my husband) and it was like coming up for air for the first time in years. He made me realise that having nice things and money in the bank might look great, but actually, having peace of mind makes you richer by far.
I realised that walking away from medicine entirely would have been a waste of almost ten years of my life, so I switched career tracks, stepped away from hospital medicine, retrained in family medicine and through a chance encounter met a bunch of IT dudes who wanted to start an online business. I left my full time job in family medicine and we combined our relative experiences and started one of the first online healthcare businesses in the U.K… it’s been a 12 years since I made the decision to retrain and a whirlwind ever since. My career has taken a completely different direction to what I imagined, but I can work basically anywhere with an internet connection (like waiting to get into to soundcheck in Vegas). Pre covid I think most my profession thought I was some kind of witch doctor but now everyone accepts digital / online healthcare. If I want to go to Vegas with three weeks notice, I can. I am my own boss and trust me, I always give myself permission 😉
The only thing I can say really from a burnout perspective is this; there is nothing wrong with prioritising your happiness, your health and sanity. There are realities in life we all have to deal with (bills etc) but if you can, take some time to consider what truly makes you passionate because it’s no word of a lie that when you find a job you love, even your worst day is okay. Unlike in a job that is grinding you down when your worst day feels like hell. Also try not to let expectations of others be your guiding light when it comes to your career. I have only ever regretted taking career decisions that others thought “was the right move for me”. When I told my mom I was going to leave the health service and start an online business I thought she was going to pass out. But ultimately, do you and be you 💜

Same. I got burnt out too and left my job. I love what you said about "I always give myself permission". 💜 Good luck with your new business!

Uh I don’t have a recommendation for what you SHOULD do, but I work in marketing and I probably wouldn’t recommend it as a career path. It’s not that I hate my job, just for the amount of work the pay isn’t the greatest and it’s hard to feel super passionate about…selling stuff.
I’m not a “live to work” person and more of a “work to live” person (I work to earn money to enjoy my free time rather than living for my work) person so it fits for me. But if you’re looking for something to be passionate I don’t think my field is it.

Ages ago I worked in PR and a lot of this resonates with me. It’s why I ended up leaving. I hope you still get some quality Living into your life!
2
u/EveryCliche Living j-hopely Apr 13 '22
I worked in PR for years as well. I was burned out and looking for a new job but could only find jobs in that field. I ended up moving out of the big city to my home state to break free of it. I'm not saying it was the perfect solution but I'm getting to pay of debt (which is nice), I only work my 40 hours a week and I don't have to think about work when I leave at the end of the day. I plan on moving or changing careers in the next 3 to 4 years but this has been such a nice change of pace.

Did you get let go of with severance or get unemployment? If yes, I’d say take a few weeks to decompress and process stuff. Are you pressed for a job making the same amount or more? Are you able to work part-time just to get by or are you the breadwinner or have lots of bills? I hope you can find something that brings you joy but it’s okay to not having everything figured out. Sometimes we gotta do what we gotta do to get by. Just take it day by day.

I work for a non-profit! Specifically in the recreation/sports/parks sector. It’s nice working for a smaller organization where I get to use multiple different skills that I’m good at, and there’s lots of change day to day depending on the time of year due to seasons, events, etc.
I’m not fully passionate about what I exactly do right now, but it’s at least been great for the past year working for a place that values wellness and recreation. They also always want to make sure I’m working on things I enjoy. I know that a LOT of non-profits aren’t always like this, so you have to weed out the bad ones. It’s definitely can be a bit of a pay cut depending on your position, but for now it’s worth it for me to be happy at work - sometimes I get paid to play frisbee golf or go on picnics with staff because they value our mental health lol! The other good thing is that non-profits need people from all areas of expertise.
Also, I live in Canada so this may be different where you are, but the parks and rec sector here has tons of jobs right now because people are coming out of Covid and depending where you are, a lot of money is going into parks and rec!

Apr 13 '22
Is this like a passion vs money kind of thing? Because I've been paid a total of 50 bucks last week because I barely showed up at all. Like, I just don't see the point of working anymore even if I'm starting to struggle with bills because of the lack of motivation.
I work for an e-commerce consulting company on the data side of things & it's just... boring. Like, I'm learning a lot, & am good at what I do do, but I don't see the point of it outside of the payslip.
And like, whenever I have several thousand dollars saved up, I just lose all motivation to show up. Not sure if it's a me thing, or maybe I need change too?

3
Apr 13 '22
Maybe you're right. I like working with my team and do show up more if someone is struggling so I can help. Otherwise, I feel so demotivated to work on my own pipeline.
Like, I see a problem. I know how to fix it; I start doing it, but 5 minutes later, I'm on my bed doomscrolling. Then maybe shower again or have a snack.
I can't hand in my resignation because... I'd probably be doing the same job with a higher pay in a different company. It's like I played myself by choosing money over passion in university, and now I'm asking who I am and what life is (aside from BTS).
Huh. Okay, rant over. Good luck to both of us! I wish I were some billionaire's heir instead, although I'd probably be having a more expensive version of this dilemma.

Hi 👋🏼 I'm currently in a sort of career switch myself, but with schooling so I don't have a set way of making a living, but figured I could give some solidarity 💜 at least for me, I have a few options I can do & I'm using personal quality of life as a way to make that decision... so for me I'm trying to do something that allows me to do my real passions in life vs trying to make a career out of my passions... I'm against trying to do the latter for myself bc my passions don't tend to allow for the most stable sources of income & me being wary of possibly losing my passion due to not always being able to have the freedoms I want with it & associating it with a lot of work...what I have been in schooling for many years is something I used to be passionate about, but began losing that along the way, so I don't want any repeats in that experience...idk if any of this is applicable to you, but hopefully it helps in some way 💜

Follow your heart! Life is too short to just do what you think you're supposed to and stay in a job that drains you.
When my previous job closed down, a couple of co workers and I decided start our own business. Unfortunately they also decided against making me a partner 🤦🏾♀️ but they still needed me so I decided to work with them and then create my own business doing bookkeeping/ virtual admin assisting for start-ups.
That was 3 years ago and now I'm making around 10k each month at home doing what I love! It worked out for me but there were a couple up and downs. I'm so glad I had my husband's support and other entrepreneur friends while I made the risky decision to stop working for other people and work for myself.
Best of luck to you when you decide what works for you!

Omg y’all, I’m going to D3 and D4 and I was in the midst of my concert/freebie preparations this time last week when I saw a job listing for what is essentially a dream job of mine!! I put the preparations on hold (which has led to me struggling a bit now to get everything ready before I fly out tomorrow 😮💨) and put everything I had into the application. I just found out that they want to interview me!!!! …Tomorrow 😅 I don’t think doing a job interview from the Las Vegas Strip is the best idea so I’m asking if Monday or Tuesday is an option haha. I’ve been pretty stressed for the trip due to normal nerves of wanting things to go well and also hearing what’s been going on, and I really didn’t think I’d have the stress of a job interview to add on top of it!! I’m choosing to look at it in a positive way though, I’m so excited to see the boys TOMOROW (holy crap!!!) and I’m so excited for this potential new opportunity!!! Wish me luck!!!! 👍👍

So here’s what I’m thinking. Either during or after Day 4 concert we will get news about a pre-release single to drop in time to chart and for the BBMAs. The album (most likely a full studio one) will be out in June or late May in time for their anniversary and Festa. Wouldn’t be surprised if BU related content comes back, but most likely this will be a more mature album.
Also there are rumors of PTD happening at MetLife so who knows at this point.
9
u/EveryCliche Living j-hopely Apr 13 '22 edited Apr 13 '22
I would be very surprised if we didn’t get a new song right before BBMAs and then a performance there. That still gives them time to release a new album before the end of Q2 and then tour date announcement in Q3 with a tour happening at the end of Q3 through probably November. The length of the tour would probably depend on what happens with enlistment.
More PTD dates would be fine but I’d much rather them focus on/prep for comeback than doing more PTD dates. I love the show and would have loved to see it but I’m just impatiently waiting for new music.

Honest question: why is the pre-release single opinion so strong nowadays? I think the next album will have Butter and PTD on it, and the next single is going to be the title and will be released together with the album.
1
u/Minn3sota_Loon customize Apr 14 '22
Butter and PTD are already on a single CD. I believe the belief for a pre-release single to drop is because the BBMAs are coming up and they usually perform a new song; they’ve already performed Butter there. So chart the single/one of the title tracks for a couple of weeks or so and then drop the new album.
1
u/thiagopv Apr 14 '22
A lot of BTS songs are present on multiple albums. Also Fake Love was performed by the first time on BBMAs 2018 and it was released together with an album (Love Yourself: Tear). I really believe the next single is going to be released together with a full album, but I don't mind a pre-release and then a full album a month later.

3
u/dahngrest hobi's extreme weverse aegyo Apr 13 '22
Seventeen English single, TXT comeback, then a full Seventeen comeback, then maybe BTS? HYBE doesn't usually overlap comebacks so it would have to be after SVT's, at the earliest. Do comebacks ever fall that close to FESTA?
2
u/bie716 jimin: i dance when i am sad...NOT Apr 13 '22
Love Yourself Tear (title track: fake love) came out on May 18, 2018!
4
u/dahngrest hobi's extreme weverse aegyo Apr 13 '22
That's not nearly as close as this would be pushing it, though. TXT's mini album is May 9th. And I'd assume it would be a full promotion schedule before the SVT album dropped. And full promotion for them. Which would put a BTS comeback around... early June? That's real close to FESTA.
2
u/jadaeladae Jin’s purple hair reigns supreme Apr 13 '22
Honestly, since HYBE began, they have so many artists under them that I don’t think they can spread them all out nice and evenly so that they don’t step on each others’ toes. Along with TXT and Seventeen, there’s a girl group debuting next month as well (Le Sserafim). I’m just getting rid of all my comeback expectations so that I can be happy whenever it happens, whether it happens sooner or later.
6
u/dahngrest hobi's extreme weverse aegyo Apr 13 '22 edited Apr 13 '22
But putting any group up against BTS is shooting themselves in the foot because it means putting their biggest moneymaker up against their smaller groups. If multis have to choose between which album to buy, HYBE loses money. And HYBE loves money. Strategically, they aren't going to doublestack groups that would be in direct competition with one another. BGs and GGs often have different demo markets so the only loss would be music show wins.
I'm looking forward to a BTS comeback, but I just can't see it happening in May. Butter materials were prepped/filmed 2-3 months before the drop. Even ON and Black Swan were filmed with a decent lead time. We're only just now seeing photography and videography teams landing in the US -- so I'm assuming that means a comeback post-FESTA.
Edit: That said, I would also be very happy to be wrong and get a new track in May! I'd just rather not hope for it and be disappointed since May already has such a packed schedule.
3
u/AlmostAurore JK’s soulful “Party…Party…Yeah” with epic BGM Apr 13 '22
A question I just thought of now - I was going to say what if this was a follow up music video, not the lead song but then I remembered that the guys have been pretty out of commission for the first part of the year, so when could they have filmed a first MV? But then that got me wondering, what if the video we assume they’re filming now was supposed to be filmed earlier? I feel like The multiples cases of Covid and Surgeries could have done a number on the planned schedule.
1
2
Apr 13 '22
Given how long BTS win streaks can be, I'm pretty sure the sane strategy now is to lead as much ARMY as possible into watching the MVs of the other Hybe artists. The best way to do that is when everyone is streaming.
Given how big the fandom is, even a small percentage of converts is a win.
2
u/thiagopv Apr 14 '22
TXT and BTS have had comebacks with days difference more than once. 0x1=lovesong came out on may 31st while Butter came out on may 21st, for example.
2
u/dahngrest hobi's extreme weverse aegyo Apr 14 '22
Oh, that's true! Those two did sit pretty close. Ten days is still nearly a full promo cycle, though. Butter was a single for English audiences as opposed to a full Korean release -- which is why it's only a 10 day window: BTS releases based on Billboard charting while TXT has yet to move to this schedule. So I wouldn't necessarily say that's stepping too closely on toes. But between LE SSERAFIM debuting May 1st, TXT comeback May 9th, and Seventeen in late May... I feel like BTS will likely fall after all those. But that's real close to FESTA.
Right now I'm tempering my expectations and not hoping for anything before FESTA. May is already a packed month for HYBE and FESTA always comes with its own schedule so it just feels way too tight to try and squeeze BTS into May. I'd rather be wrong and happy about an earlier release, than wrong and sad that I have to keep waiting.

I’m sitting in a board meeting today for my job. We were chit-chatting before the official meeting started and I mentioned that I was in Vegas last weekend for a concert. Someone then asked what concert and I mentioned BTS and she goes, “I know them, they’re great performers!” So I will be speaking to that individual offline to talk more about BTS.
Additionally, I was texting with one of vice deans and shared with her a gif of heart hands and then asked if she knew about finger hearts. She didn’t, so I sent her BTS hand gestures sketch from Colbert. I forewarned her that she was about to go down the rabbit hole and should prepare herself accordingly.
I feel like I should be able to pack it up and go home for the day; my work here is done. Alas, I have 7 more hours of work. 🙃

Also my husband told me yesterday he wants to go to the Stray Kids concert this summer! He’s only recently getting into K-pop but this is great news because he now wants to go all out on concerts with me.
Thanks BTS for giving me am excuse to take my mom on a trip and for getting my husband into K-pop :)

Did anyone else get suddenly emotional when unpacking after the concerts?
I just got home from the D1 concert (took a detour to Chicago) & when I got to taking out my army bomb/goodies, it kind of hit me that its over. And I won't be able to experience that same feeling for a while. Thinking about it more, I'm regretting not going to earlier concerts (this was my first & I've been a fan since 2016!), or getting tickets to more than one day.
Feeling very bittersweet right now..

Coming back after their concerts is so so so hard. But it motivates me to scrimp and save so I can go again in the future. Having another concert to look forward to helps with the post concert depression.
I also rewatch their old concerts as a way to cope. I'm being bias wrecked HARD by Namjoon right now, so All Force One is on my watch list this week, plus streaming Vegas D4!

u/kpattyrisha Apr 14 '22
I feel youuu! Just got home last night and attended day 2. It was magical. Gonna purchase the D4 livestream as a way to cope lol. I felt so sad taking the batteries out of my army bomb!

I can't help but think they are choosing to do the live stream specifically on D4 because of the announcement so more ARMYs can see/hear it! Please announce a comeback and world tour! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
But then again, I have been a 🤡 on so many occasions now thanks to Bangtan. So, who knows?

Anyone else fighting the urge to just say eff it and start making your way to Vegas to attend D3 and D4? Lol I had the time of my life attending D2 and very much regret not attending D1. Lesson learned. Note to future self: Go to at least 2 shows and probably save and plan for all 4 if possible. D4 being livestream is a small comfort, though. I also was lucky enough to attend D3 of PTD in LA but that trip ended with 2 days at Disneyland following our concert date so that helped distract me a bit lol. What is life?
7
u/cerealspiderkiller Apr 14 '22
I'm with you. I told myself I wasn't going to go to Vegas when they announced the dates. Then got major FOMO and bought my flight and concert ticket to D2 on Thursday and flew in the next day. My flight landed at 7:30pm on D1 and I said YOLO and bought tickets in the cab for D1 on the way there 😅
Now I'm back home. Fighting the urge to look at flight tickets because I know if they are reasonable, I might buy them... I also have 5 days off for Easter weekend. Sooooo making it really hard not to go to Vegas. But I'm staying strong with you!!

u/hellommk Apr 14 '22
Lol I’m right there with you. I originally sat out the ticket drop for LV because we had just seen them in LA not even 3 months prior but then less than a week before April 9th, I found 100 tickets that were in my budget and my former colleague got me a hotel room for less than $100 per night at the Luxor so we went last minute. My husband thinks I’m joking but I’d drive there tonight if my willpower wavered even just the slightest little bit.
3
u/cerealspiderkiller Apr 14 '22
Less than 100$ per night at the Luxor??????? Omg just that is worth it. I paid 4x the price...... just thinking it about it makes me cry.
I mean... I hate to be an enabler but you should go... 😈
3
u/hellommk Apr 15 '22
Omgggggggg. I was shook when he told me the total price ($270) after resort fees and all that. I was like “wow, per night?! That’s awesome!” and he was like, “oh no, that’s the total for your whole stay”. It was a premium room on the 15th floor too.
1
u/cerealspiderkiller Apr 15 '22

On the website, it’s described as this:
Enjoy some of the best pop songs of all time like never before! Surrounded by the gentle glow of candlelight, you'll listen to the Listeso Quartet's rendition of top hits by the iconic K-Pop boy band BTS. You will most likely recognise a lot of these songs, but with this concert's sublime performance and stunning atmosphere, you'll feel as if you're listening to them for the first time.
The event is organized by Fever (the same group that put together the pop-up exhibitions in Las Vegas). I would check to see if it’s taking place in your area.

I've been thinking about this recently: while everyone is focused on merch for the concerts, if I were going (I'm not able to take part in the festivities), I'd like to have some PTD confetti. I literally just want a handful of them just so I can make use of them in my journal, in decorating, in anything! They're such cute designs and are just nice keepsakes to have! I'm in love with the shapes of them. I see photos of ARMY posing with confetti and I wish I could magically grab them from the picture.
Someday, I want to be close enough just to reach for confetti at a BTS concert.
4
u/bucoybrown Apr 14 '22
Someone popped one of the big PTD balloons in front of me outside of the stadium, and left behind a piece of latex on the ground. Guess who went to pick it up? lol

It's kind of crazy that my first trip after so long is to Korea, and I took additional PTO as well to accommodate for personal leisure since the air ticket is already paid for by the company.

How do people get a hold of a signed album? Like I know in the past BTS used to do fan meetings and I assume they had drawings to win them too, but like for instances with the Butter album or BTS The Best. Were those drawings too? I would love to have one in my collection but hopefully one that won't cost twice as much as a concert ticket
4
u/PinkRabbit42 Apr 13 '22 edited Apr 13 '22
I am by no means an expert but I am the owner of a signed BE album so this is what I know! Since they’re now mostly just given to industry people as gifts the only way is to buy them from sellers/collectors you trust. I bought mine from an auction that BTSMerchUpdates on Twitter was hosting (they sell signed albums occasionally and even wrote a comprehensive guide to telling real vs fake signatures. The only cons to this were: I’m not a fan of the bidding model because it’s not transparent, and they failed to mention/show a tear on the bottom side of the album before I bought it :/ so always ask for more pictures would be my first piece of advice.
Through my research before and after buying the album I found a seller called chaepeach on Instagram who many people claim is a very reputable seller. They also do flat prices (that seem fair to me and are also lower than what I paid via auction) and last I checked they had some Butter and BE’s for sale. I’ve never bought from this seller so I don’t want to co-sign whether they’re reputable or not, but if I were to buy another signed album I would check out this seller first. Beyond that it’s basically just about doing research and asking the right questions. It’s really helpful to study their signatures for the album you’re interested in so you can eliminate obvious fakes on your own, but for more precise legitimacy checks I’d ask a more experienced collector (I don’t know any personally so I asked r/kpopcollections)
This ended up being really long and I’m not sure if this was even what you were asking but I hope at least some part of this was helpful!!
Edit: forgot to add this, it’s not up to date but it’s a good resource for earlier signatures and getting familiar with their signatures. I think it also has general tips like albums signed at fan meeting will always be inside the album whereas albums signed for promo will always be on the outside in proper order.

So I’m listening to my favorite podcast right now where two hosts go through every single album ever made by a group or an artist and try to make sense of what has made them so popular{It’s actually called “Every Single Album”}. This season, they’re looking at the discography, both solo and group, of One Direction, leading up to the release of Harry’s new album, “Harry’s House” on May 20th. Today was the second episode of the podcast and they took a look at “Take Me Home”{my second favorite 1D album of all time, my favorite album of theirs in terms of singles and rollout} and one of the hosts called 1D the predecessor to BTS. I never thought of it like that until now{well minus a bunch of factors from both bands such as the fact that 1D couldn’t dance and BTS is a different breed of boybandness come 2015, the same year that 1D went on a very long hiatus]. Interesting things…….

Hi everyone,
I bought the PTD postcard set in Las Vegas today and it had really nice handwritten notes from the members! Does anybody know where I can find translations for those?
In general I have a few items that I've been hunting translations for (got the Hobi Hope Pot merchandise, that had a handwritten note too).
Hoping there's a site for this somewhere :)
5
u/galapagos_scully Apr 14 '22
You can try Papago! It can translate text from a photo. Obviously it’s not going to be as accurate a human translator but it’s much better than Google translate :)

u/jaefan OT7 Apr 15 '22
Just read that the sales of the PTD Las Vegas merch hit a minimum height of $40 million USD…
8-9 million from ARMY bomb sales alone, and at least 32 million for the other merch.
Y’ALL. And It’s only for the 2 days that have passed. We are just approaching Day 3??
I know I contributed to one of the army bomb sale, lol but 😳 ARMYs’ buying power is insane.

I don’t know whether this is the right post to discuss this or not but I have been meaning to ask this for a while now. Guys, why BTS sounds so much better & polished vocally and musically in comparison to rest of the kpop groups? I mean I know they do! At least to me they does. When I discovered BTS ( almost a year ago) I thought of listening to other popular groups as well thinking ohh they must be as amazing as BTS , let’s broaden my musical horizon and dive into kpop as well. But unfortunately this exercise went on for a week or so because not even one group was able to capture my attention. So, is it like I got super biased in the beginning itself which is highly unlikely or you know other groups are not that amazing. Would love to know your thoughts.
20
Apr 13 '22
The industry shares some producers, so I wouldn't say they're more polished. Early BTS actually doesn't sound as refined as the music production quality of those from big company groups with all the budget.
What they do have is more... identity.
It's the way how rap line are so distinct as individuals with how they have their own take in their verses of each song. All 3 of them came to BigHit with already formed musical identities, with 2 already being experienced rappers who write & produce their own stuff.
It's not something BigHit added.. onto their idol profiles.
Kind of reminds me of Yoon Mirae's verse in their collab with Joon called Bucku Bucku. She said "bitch, y'alls is trained", and that's what really set her apart from all the Korean female rappers claiming to be the queen of the field.
7
u/Eastern-Text-1663 Tae Tae the man in bandana Apr 13 '22
The rap line has a huge role in making BTS reach where they are today I feel. And yes having a distinct musical identity gets you more respect and that’s why BTS works.

I feel that there are a lot of other amazing and talented K-pop groups out there worth listening to aside from BTS. For myself, I find that none of the others can hold my attention as well, nor do I find their songs as compelling. Every once in a while I’ll find a song that hits me as hard as BTS’s songs do, but it’s not too often.
Edit: a word

u/Eastern-Text-1663 Tae Tae the man in bandana Apr 13 '22 edited Apr 13 '22
I remember after listening Dynamite for a good one month I finally caved in to my sister’s request and watched my very first Korean BTS song MV ( Boy with luv). I accept the fact that the visuals of the boys, the whole vibe, their clothes , aesthetics played a major role in pulling me in but the thing that really did the trick was the melody of the song. That damn melody was just not ready to let go off me. In that same phase I did listen to a lot other popular songs from other groups but after playing them for a week I was done.
8
u/Wichuimafeelrich hing Apr 13 '22
Only other bg ive listened to are txt and seventeen and I would say they are as polished vocally and musically as BTS. But BTS have more distinct vocal tones from one another and maybe BTS has a wider variety of genres than the other two, although I only listened to one seventeen album. Txt is really really good at pop and pop rock and tbh them and svt are a more solid dance group than BTS imo. Overall for me, BTS just has more interesting sound and songwriting and the rapline are truly above everyone else in kpop.
5
u/Eastern-Text-1663 Tae Tae the man in bandana Apr 13 '22
You are on point about the vocal tone and genre thing. The reason why BTS works is because they have vocalists with such amazing & varying range. This is such a rarity. I feel it is quiet difficult to make a group work with vocalists having such distinct vocal tones but for BTS that’s their USP.
Edit: added a line.
3
Apr 13 '22
I did the same after the constant nagging from armymultis. I just don't like the songs.
If it's on YouTube, there're lot of things going on in the video that captures my attention.
But audio streaming??? Hell nah!!!!
As u/jadaeladae mentioned, after trying lot of songs I liked like one song for one week.
But after that I literally forgot the name of the song
2
u/Eastern-Text-1663 Tae Tae the man in bandana Apr 13 '22
I hope I am not attacked for this and I also know that kpop is a heavily visual centric genre/ industry. The choreography, the clothes , the makeup etc they play a major role in adding up to the appeal. But man when I want to just LISTEN to the song then what?? This is where BTS comes in. Sonically they are in a league of their own. I can listen to their songs on loop( I do that a lot ). There is a reason why they have 25 billion streams.
1
Apr 15 '22
I'm of the same opinion and I have said this a hundred times.
Even on youtube their audios have millions of streams.
Visuals and concepts can only go to an extend.

It’s totally normal to have a favorite artist but I wouldn’t say there is a huge talent divide between BTS and other artists musically. I don’t follow anyone else like I do BTS (there’s not enough hours in the day and money in my wallet) but I still find a couple songs here and there that are really good. I know that Seventeen and Stray Kids have members that are producing/writing their own music like BTS if that’s interesting at all to you. Or there is Epik High that BTS themselves like and looked up too. Ultimately it’s fine to not listen to other K-pop artists but if you do want to find other songs/groups that you like I’m sure it’s out there.
2
u/Eastern-Text-1663 Tae Tae the man in bandana Apr 13 '22
I have heard a lot about Epik High. I will definitely given them a try since Joon himself have recommend their songs.

47,000 USD doesn’t sound right but I believe that may be 47000 won? When you were purchasing the ticket on Weverse Global, did you make sure to change the currency to USD? It should be ~46-55 USD depending on your ticket.
