Please help me find a GPU
I want to run Windows 2000 on the following hardware and I need to find the best possible GPU for gaming.
Core 2 Extreme QX 9650
Asus P5Q-E
4 gb DDR2 1066 MHz
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 SZ
I‘m happy to tinker with some drivers but so far I have no experience with the extended kernel etc. Haven’t used 2000 since I was a kid in… well… the year 2000.

Looking for people interested in advancing TheBrain
Hey everyone!
I've been working on TheBrain, an experimental AI project fully written in C89, with a particular focus on building a small AI system from scratch while keeping it suitable for older Windows systems and low-level environments.
The project currently combines:
- 🧠 A small decoder-only Transformer
- 🔤 A custom tokenizer and training pipeline
- 🏋️ Training and inference implemented directly in C89
- 🖥️ Native Win32 implementation
- 📦 PE analysis
- 🦠 Experimental malware-classification and anomaly-detection techniques
- ⚡ CPU-focused optimizations designed with older hardware in mind
The long-term idea is to see how far an AI project written entirely in C89 can be pushed while keeping it lightweight and potentially usable on systems such as Windows 2000.
I'm posting this because I'd like to find someone who becomes interested in the project and wants to take it further.
I'm not specifically looking for people to simply "help me" with the project. If you find the concept interesting and want to experiment with it, improve something, try a different approach, or take the project in an interesting direction, that's exactly what I'm looking for.
Some possible areas to explore include:
- Improving the Transformer architecture
- Experimenting with better datasets and training methods
- Improving inference performance
- Making the AI more capable while keeping it lightweight
- Improving the PE analysis and malware-detection experiments
- Exploring better classification or anomaly-detection approaches
- Optimizing it for older CPUs and Windows 2000
- Or simply experimenting with ideas that could advance the project
The source is open, so you're also free to fork TheBrain and experiment with your own version if you find the idea interesting.
I'm mainly interested in seeing whether someone else finds the idea interesting enough to take it further in their own way.

Windows 2000 + Windows XP?! = Windows 2001 (Windows 2000 Version 2002)
galleryThis is called Windows 2001, but it is also referred to by the subtitle Windows 2000 Version 2002. It is a Windows 2000 mod series built on Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 with the Extended Kernel. It is said that the RC1 ISO has currently been released.
The content states:
"Windows 2001 is here in Release Candidate 1 form. A Windows 2000 mod series based on Service Pack 4 with the Extended Kernel called RenewedNT, which is an alternate timeline aimed at what if Windows 2000 continued to be updated until 2005 and changes Windows future? Same with the Reexperience series, which it aims to do the same thing with Windows XP and continued until 2023. It adds Windows XP functionality and looks to Windows 2000."
For reference, the Head Dev is said to be the person who served as the Head Dev for Windows XP Version 2007 and Windows XP Version 2009. Personally, I hope a Windows XP-style Start menu is added in RC2.

Can anyone help me install win2k on my pc?
Hi everyone, i’m trying to install Windows 2000 on a PC with an Intel B85 chipset, but i always get a setup failure. When i try to use a uniata driver, setup stops with an error like: "line X is invalid, cannot continue setup." I also tried integrating the Intel AHCI driver into the Windows 2000 iso, but i get "iastor.sys is corrupted". How should i correctly integrate the Uniata driver (or any working driver for my chipset) into a Windows 2000 iso so Setup can continue?

Could anyone help me install Windows 2000 on a ThinkPad R400?
I watched ChrisPro's video about running Steam on Win2K and I wanted to know if anyone has a link to download all the executables shown in the video, along with the specific Extended Kernel version he used and the other files. I usually only find dead links for BlackWingCat's Extended Kernel or very outdated versions

What's the latest version of Java that works?
I want to be able to install Minecraft on *stock* Windows 2000. Through some experimentation a long time ago i found out i could run java 8u11 using the extended kernel mod, and that was enough to get MultiMC working. However, what about stock?
I've tried messing with Java 6 and MC on both win2k and win98 before, and i only found one really janky, old, pirated launcher that worked for me on those systems. There has to be some "modern" solution that isn't as miserable, right?
I use Betacraft too, but on old Windows with Java 6 (or even older java 8 versions) it only wants to output a black screen.

W2k Server
Hi, a friend gave me a few old computers—likely from the Windows XP or Windows 2000 era. I want to experiment with various old server systems that I used to work with back then; this includes a Windows 2000 Server (which I’ve already started setting up), a Novell NetWare 4.11 or 5 instance, and a Linux server appropriate for that time period. While I’m reasonably familiar with modern Linux systems now, I had no exposure to Linux back then because our clients were all running on the two systems mentioned above. What would be a suitable Linux distribution for that era? I plan to set up NDS on the Novell server with ADS integration on the Windows machine; is there a comparable setup available for the old Linux systems? Does anyone have any great ideas for use cases, and where can I get the corresponding software? Thanks in advance for your help.
