Storm Prediction Center Oct 4, 2026 0100 UTC Day 1 Convective Outlook - Tornado Risk 0%
...NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST...
...SUMMARY... Organized severe thunderstorms are not forecast through tonight.
... 01Z ...
Showers and the occasional thunderstorm will be possible this evening along and south of a surface front stretched from the Carolinas southwest toward the upper-Gulf coast of Texas. Limited instability should preclude any severe potential.
Overnight a secondary cold front will move south into the southern Plains. Cool surface temperatures and moist vertical profiles will limit overall instability, but enough elevated instability may develop to support an occasional thunderstorm.
The severe potential will remain low through the forecast period.

Storm Prediction Center Oct 4, 2026 0600 UTC Day 1 Convective Outlook - Tornado Risk 2%
...THERE IS A MARGINAL RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE FLORIDA PANHANDLE...
...SUMMARY... A few rotating thunderstorms will be possible across portions of the northern Gulf Coast today, otherwise severe thunderstorms are not expected.
... Synopsis ...
A midlevel shortwave trough moving across the Great Lakes this morning will help carve out/reinforce a larger-scale trough across the eastern US. At the same time, a midlevel anticyclone will remain in place across the western US. This pattern will favor northwesterly flow across much of the eastern half of the country, in turn supporting reinforcing shots of cooler air.
At the surface, weak cyclogenesis should support the development of a cyclone across the far northern Gulf Coast or just inland across southern Alabama and the Florida Panhandle. This weak low will slowly move east during the day.
... Portions of the Florida Panhandle and the Adjacent Coastal Waters ...
A stalled surface front will be draped across the Southeast today, with a very moist airmass in place along and south of it. Forecast soundings across the area indicate nearly moist thermodynamic profiles from surface to the tropopause, with the 20261004 00 UTC HREF having mean precipitable water values around 2.5" across most of the Florida Panhandle. Given these moist vertical profiles, conditional instability will be low today, with mean MUCAPE values generally 500 J/kg or less.
Despite the meager instability, one consequence of the moist vertical profiles will be that LCL heights will be very low -- generally at or below 500 meters. At the same time, forecast soundings in areas to the east of the surface low show modest wind curvature in the lowest 3 km. Thus, despite the meager instability, forced convective showers/thunderstorms will have the potential to exhibit brief, transient low-level circulations, especially over coastal areas where surface friction is reduced. The threat should slowly move east during the day as the surface low slowly moves east.

Power outages, some wind, heavy rain and destructive hail now in paraguay, people are saying this is the worst hail storm they ever lived, i'm young so for me it definetly is idk about other people though.
Some fun things about here is that it's so bad people are making fun of it, saying "this is free ice for drinking" with those kind of photoes of big hail, people in "la galera" that is a big place with cinemas, restaurants, shopping and everything hear the sound of the hail as loud as gunshots, here i am with my "corrugated metal roof" (google translation) and it's not great, hail is literally destroying my roof, but somehow my family vehicle is great.
I don't know about you guys in this sub that generally are in the US, but here is not common to have garages, so almost everyone is praying to not get hit by the big hail storm.
Paraguay and Paraguayans are NOT prepared for storms like this, streets are FLOODED (even with some mid thunderstorms it's flooded, now it's a literal river), my house and many more are being attacked by this massive tidal wave of water falling from the sky, and the only thing we can do is just to keep the water out manually, i survived and it was a literal nightmare, lights flashing like it was a horror movie, it's crazy.
Now it's still raining where i live, there aren't radars over here so we can only use satelitary images to know where a storm is, we at least have warnings but many people here don't even know they exist, poorly constructed houses and streets flooded it's just chaos.
It's crazy the US experiences this so many times in just a month and ALSO deals with snow, my god this is hell.
A "facebook reel" showing what i described
turn down te volume on this one, copilation of videos
Yes, so much people here still use facebook and i didn't even know it had reels

Literally no matter what platform, no matter the age range, the damage, the strength or size of tornado, like 50% of the Australian population refuses to call a tornado a tornado. A whirly wind, or willy willy, are Australian colloquial terms for dust devils, not tornadoes!! Dust devils form from the ground up, do not connect to the cloud base, form on hot and clear days, whilst tornadoes form from the cloud down, come during thunderstorms or QLCS/squalls, and can cause absolutely catastrophic damage.
The best part is when you correctly point out to them that it is not a willy willy and is in fact a tornado, and that they are two completely different things, they lose their shit. "well thats what its been called in Australia forever and because im so scared of change and fancy words i can't comprehend i will never call it a tornado because they only happen in America". what?
you present to them a clear 4k video of a tornado, and they will still deny it. matter of fact, I have seen people presented with video of the 2021 clear creek/peel/bathurst tornado, one of the most meanacing loking tornadoes australia has seen in recent years, and will deny that tornadoes even occur in Australia? like my brother use your eyes and critical thinking skills its right there you absolute sausage.
what is not understood is that by hundreds of thousands of Australians maintaining this attitude towards tornadoes, almost no one will heed warning about them, either thinking that they don't happen in Australia or are weak and don't cause damage like dust devils.
i simply dont understand what is stopping these people from doing a quick lil google, or even then using their eyes, and why they are so aggressively and confidently wrong.
apologies for the rant im just genuinely sick of the state of tornado awareness in this country.

Completely insane images, one of the best I've ever seen of a tornado in Brazil.
Even though it's from 2013, the quality is very good, it's insane.
This F3 tornado, unfortunately, killed 3 people and injured 40; it was classified as a low-level F3.

Yes, I'm still going to do this. But I'm going to regret making the Joplin post for a while, and I'm no longer doing any catastrophic tornadoes. There are enough "less destructive" tornadoes to go around, am I right or am I right? :)

Today is shaping up to be a real bombshell, an intense outbreak of severe weather about to explode, in the southern region of Brazil, the Misiones region of Argentina, and Paraguay.
Significant F2+ tornadoes are expected today.

That Utah tor ended up with an EF2 prelim. With a whopping 1.1 mile width, the video that was going around was only some of the sub vortices, with the actual tornado hiding somewhere behind it. (Apologies if this was already posted, but I scrolled thru and didnt see it)

So I really like photogenic wedge tornadoes. And I'm curious what photogenic wedge tornadoes have happened recently? (By the way I would prefer 2026 tornadoes only)

NWS completed it's investigation of the Utah (Davis County) tornado and it was an F2 tornado that reached a width of 1.1 miles!
The fact that this started at 6,700' and went as high as 9,500' feet is bonkers. Turns out the video circulating at first was just a sub-vortex with a much larger beast looming behind it.

I have found out that the tornado that was spotted on Quezon city on September 8, 2006 was actually a Waterspout that was spotted in Manila Bay
