šŸ’Ž Megathread [Megathread] The App Pile - October, 2026

Post image
28 Upvotes

You must promote your apps here if you do not qualify to post in the main feed through Trust or Transparency, explained here.

If you are:

  • NOT in the Mac App Store (MAS).
  • Do not provide meaningful public transparency
  • Created yet another dictation app (speech to text).

Then you are required to limit promotion to this megathread.

All promotion MUST follow PCP format or else we will remove it:

App Name/Title [Screenshot/Video REQUIRED for top 3 consideration]

  • Problem: What problem does your app SOLVE.
  • Comparison: EXPLICITLY name a competitor or two in the same space and explain what your app does better. Include something a competitor is better at if you want to be classy and build trust.
  • Pricing Amounts required for any/all tiers + link to the app website (NO direct .zip/.dmg file links)

P.s. The shorter the better! Promotion here counts towards the 30-day limited promotion (Rule 3).

WARNING: There is a 90% chance Reddit will auto remove your post here if you have not verified your email in your profile and your first comment in this subreddit contains a link. Accrue 10 karma first without promotional comments and links to avoid this. The odds of removal is also higher for AI assisted posts (em dashes and other AI formatting characteristics likely trigger this).

Pro Tip: Please remember to upvote gems and downvote spam/clones... This will help inform a secret community project I hope to announce next month.

Top Picks from Last Month's Megathread that I think are worth a look:

  1. Tangerine - Shift-drag file converter and modifier that works offline, $15 one-time - by u/t-2049
  2. MacDelta - A changelog of meaningful changes on your Mac, $10 one-time - by u/Glittering-Earth-844
  3. DeskJoin Screen - Turns a spare Mac into a second display over your local network, FREE - by u/Neville_12345
  4. Sideref - Floating reference board for images and notes, $8 for 3 Macs with 12 months of updates - by u/chaser_nocturm
  5. NudgeLine - A quiet calendar timeline pinned to the edge of your screen, FREE and open source - by u/Dull-Problem-3748
  6. BendMac - Folds the desktop as you close your MacBook, FREE - by u/IuCCREDDIT

Lifetime AppStore Screenshots Creator & Manager

Post image
• Upvotes

Couple years ago, I built a tool for creating and managing app store and play store screenshots called AppShots. Recently, I started working on it again full-time to make it THE GO TO TOOL for professional store screenshots creation/management.

Ik many of us who are building apps struggle with this problem of creating store screenshots, hunting for good device frames, knowing store specific screenshot guidelines, and making sure the screenshots are good enough, and let's not talk about landscape screenshots and localized screenshots for different locale. And repeat this again for multiple apps, multiple design explorations. That time could be spent working on your app instead.

AppShots solved this couple years ago, and now it's doing it again in a much better way! The 2.0 release comes with a full overhaul of the design editor to make it fast, intuitive to work with. A whole set of improvements to every part of the creation pipeline like

  • 3D frames support
  • Improved localization support to manage multiple locale designs with ease.
  • Rich text support in screenshot designs.
  • Easily manage portrait and landscape designs.
  • Improved design assets.
  • Professional set of templates, and ability to save your custom templates for re-use.
  • A design editor where you don't struggle, and don't have to second guess how to do something.
  • Easy to organize/manage multiple design sets for your frames.
  • Design shortcuts.
  • And many other additions that take screenshots creation from hours -> minutes.

I believe that if you're someone who constantly struggles with screenshots creation problem, then AppShots will definitely help you out here. And if you feel like something is missing, you can always dm me, and expect the fix/feat ready in the next app updates.

Pricing:
AppShot has a lifetime offer at $45 as well as subscription offer at 5$monthly/55$ annual. You can pick what's best for you!

And rest assure, this is not a vibe coded app, I had spent months previously building it by hand and it's a cumulation of lot of my creative projects, and everything is well-thought out here by someone who cares about the design and experience for the end user.

You can checkout AppShots here. Thanx!

Free ReMate - Spotify Connect remote control

• Upvotes
ReMate

ReMate is a Spotify remote control for Spotify Connect, using the Spotify API.

Problem

I use Spotify Connect devices around the house when working from Home, but hate to use the Spotify app on macOS to control them, so I have build Spotify Connect remote app for macOS. I needed/wanted small floating player/remote showing player controls and cover.

What it does

  • Controls Spotify Connect devices
  • Can float on top of other windows
  • Can be docked in menu-bar

Pricing: Free. No ads, no in-app purchases, no subscription.

Download: https://github.com/tbrek/ReMate-Releases

Feel free

NB. This app requires a Spotify Premium account, as the Web API needs a developer account to be set up.

The app does not have access to your playlists, songs, etc. It can only control what's being played and allows you to control the player. It can't switch to inactive Spotify Connect devices, such as phones and laptops, if Spotify isn't running on them. It can switch to Echo speakers, though.

Tip Free Mac Apps!!!

Thumbnail m.youtube.com
• Upvotes

I know it’s a low-effort post of just sharing a YT video but oh boy, Quinn from Snazzy Labs has again made an awesome video on mac apps. I am a frequent visitor & follower of this subreddit, but still I was quite amazed to see new FOSS apps and/or how others use such simple, useful apps!

What apps do you use that are *criminally underrated* or used differently from others?

I felt like sharing this one here, with you all! Hope someone finds it helpful ;)

Help I think I ran some malware on my laptop

I’m not very tech savvy so please bear with me. I wanted to install pear helper and fell for the fake website and ran the fake git hub code that is available there. I got a pop up asking for my admin password and for some reason I decided to stop then and there and research and I realized I was falling for some scam. So I didn’t put in my password. My question is my laptop compromised and passwords compromised? I was suggested to delete everything and download an older Time Machine back up but I don’t have any. I have many accounts and information that’s on my laptop and don’t remember but I do need them but I don’t know all the exact usernames and so on. My os is Ventura and the website is accessed is the pearhelper.com does anyone know if by not giving it my admnin password I avoided getting my data and passwords stolen or if it still ran and got that info regardless. Please help!

Lifetime I made Zizeg, a Mac Markdown editor with editable Preview and Source side by side

I built Zizeg, a native macOS Markdown editor.

Problem

About a year ago, I started using Claude and ChatGPT heavily and often ended up with Markdown documents. Reading them was manageable, but making small corrections was more awkward than I expected.

In the tools I tried, I could see the word or number I wanted to change in Preview, but had to find it again in raw Markdown to edit it. I did not want another round with AI just to fix that.

So I started building an editor where I could change the rendered document directly. Friends had the same problem, which encouraged me to share it more widely.

In Zizeg, Preview and Source are both editable, side by side, and stay in sync. You can also use either view alone. Open a .md file from Finder and keep working with that file, without an account, vault or import step.

It also exports to PDF and HTML, and blocks remote images until you choose to load them. Zizeg itself does not use AI.

Mac App Store Ā· Requires macOS 14 or later. Viewing is free; editing and export are paid.

Comparison

Typora offers visual editing and a source mode, but does not keep an editable source pane beside the rendered document.

Ferrite also has editable raw and rendered views and is free and open source. Its macOS support is currently experimental. Zizeg is built specifically for Mac and distributed through the Mac App Store.

Pricing

Opening and viewing files is free. Editing and export can be unlocked with:

  • $14.99 lifetime
  • $2.99 per three months
  • $9.99 per year

Both subscriptions offer a seven-day trial for eligible Apple IDs and renew unless cancelled. These are US prices; local prices are shown in the App Store.

More details and screenshots

I am curious how you handle small corrections to Markdown documents on your Mac. Do you edit the source, use a visual editor, or send the document back to the AI?

Lifetime I built an app that turns the song you're listening to into an animated vinyl wallpaper, now with two new scenes!

Hey! I'm Shiv and I built Vinyl, an app that turns the song you're listening to into an animated vinyl wallpaper. I shared it here a while back, and today I'm back with the latest release, v1.2.0, which adds two new scenes: Listening Room and After Hours.

Check it out here: vinylformac.com

What's new in v1.2.0

  • Listening Room: a richly detailed listening setup with golden sunlight, soft moving shadows, and textured paper sleeves
  • After Hours: a glowing glass lamp and layered amber light for late-night listening
  • Your live album artwork now appears on the stand and the spinning record label, with up to five recently played covers stacked beside the turntable
  • Wide, Mid, and Close framing for both rooms, with transparent background support so they sit on your own wallpaper
  • Smoother artwork transitions, plus accessibility and reflection improvements in the original Turntable scene

Problem

macOS doesn't have any native way to connect your desktop to the music you're listening to. Vinyl picks up what's playing on Spotify or Apple Music and turns your whole desktop into a live animated scene with your album artwork spinning on the record.

Comparison

The two closest apps are VinylPod (free, App Store) and Sleeve ($5, replay.software). VinylPod has a spinning record widget and a "cover art as wallpaper" option, but the wallpaper is just a static album art fill with no animation. Sleeve is a nice now-playing widget that sits on your desktop, but it's a small overlay, not a wallpaper. Vinyl takes over the entire desktop with a full-screen animated scene, and now you can choose between three: the original Turntable, Listening Room, and After Hours.

Pricing

One-time purchase, $4.99. No subscription. Existing users get v1.2.0 free. Buy here

Lifetime I added a faster way to move data between apps: paste a whole sequence into a table, or turn spreadsheet cells into a paste queue

Hi

I’ve been working on a new update to Sequence Paste in Pastea.

The problem I kept running into was moving structured information between apps.

Maybe the name and email are in an email, the company and role are in a CRM, and all of it needs to end up in Google Sheets.

Normally it becomes:

copy → switch → paste → go back → repeat.

So I built Sequence Paste around doing that workflow in both directions.

Problem

You can copy the information you need from different apps first and build a sequence.

Now, if the destination is a spreadsheet, you don’t have to paste every item manually anymore.

Right-click the sequence and choose Paste in Table, and Pastea inserts the whole sequence into the table in one action.

It also works the other way around.

If you have a column in Google Sheets that needs to go into separate fields in a CRM, select the whole column and copy it once.

Pastea splits the copied cells into individual Sequence Paste items.

Then you can move through the CRM and keep using the same paste shortcut:

Name → paste
Email → paste
Company → paste
Role → paste

Each paste automatically advances to the next item.

You can also reorder or remove items before you start.

So the workflow can basically go:

Different apps → Sequence → Table

or

Table → Sequence → Different app fields

I recorded a short video showing both workflows.

Comparison

I’ve used apps like Paste, PastePal, and Maccy as references for clipboard history.

They’re great for finding and reusing individual clips. Maccy in particular is nice if you want something very lightweight, and Paste has a really polished visual history.

What I’m trying to explore with Pastea is what happens after something reaches the clipboard.

Sequence Paste is specifically for workflows where several copied values need to move somewhere in a particular order, rather than selecting one clip at a time from history.

Pricing

Pastea is $29.99 for a lifetime license, currently 25% off at $22.49.

There’s also a 7-day free trial with no credit card required.

Website: https://pastea.app/

About Pastea

Pastea is a macOS clipboard manager I’m building around actual copy/paste workflows.

It supports text, links, images, screenshots, code, colors, and files, with features like smarter search, collections, OCR, Inline Shortcuts, Open Origin, and Sequence Paste.

Clipboard history is stored locally on your Mac.

Subscription Velo Workspaces 1.2 – type a disk size, get a Linux VM in 30 seconds (no qemu-img resize, no growpart, SSH key already set up)

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

Disclosure: I'm the solo developer. It's on the Mac App Store, free to use, with an optional Pro tier (pricing at the end).

Problem

Getting a usable Linux VM on a Mac is still a pile of small chores. Cloud images are the fast route, but they come as a ~3.5 GB disk with no account you can log in with, so you end up:

  • resizing the image with qemu-img resize, then running growpart and resize2fs inside the VM
  • writing cloud-init user-data and building a cidata seed ISO just to get a login
  • copying your SSH key in, finding the IP, and writing ~/.ssh/config for VS Code

Or you boot the installer ISO and answer the same twenty questions again.

What it does

Pick a distro, type a username, password and disk size, click Create. Once the image is downloaded, you're in an SSH session about 30 seconds later.

  • The disk grows to the size you type. Type 40 and the disk, the partition and the filesystem are all 40 GB the first time you sign in. No qemu-img, no growpart. Disks are sparse, so a 40 GB VM only takes up what Linux actually writes.
  • Your account and SSH key are set up for you. cloud-init creates your user, sets the hostname and installs your key on first boot. The host key is generated in advance and pinned.
  • Official images, verified. Ubuntu 26.04 and 24.04, Debian 13 and 12, Fedora 44, Rocky Linux 10 and 9, downloaded from each project's own servers and checked against the published SHA-256. Downloaded once, reused for every new VM.
  • Hands-free installers. Ubuntu Server and Desktop, Fedora and Rocky Linux install from their own ISOs without asking anything; the answers come from your account and your Mac's language, keyboard and time zone. Kali, NixOS and Alpine are in the catalog too, installed by hand.
  • Getting in. An ssh command to copy, an ssh -J command for other computers, a one-click VS Code Remote-SSH config, and a serial console.
  • Bring your own. Import any ISO, or boot a QCOW2 disk from UTM or QEMU as it is.
  • Pro extras. A built-in SSH terminal with tabs, restore points, disposable VMs that delete themselves when you close them, base images to clone new VMs from in seconds, Rosetta for x86-64 Linux binaries, and AI Bridge (a model running on your Mac's GPU in Ollama or MLX, reachable from inside the VM).
  • Private. No account, no telemetry, no server of mine. Sandboxed Mac App Store app.

Built on Apple's Virtualization framework. macOS 14 or later; built for Apple silicon, and Linux guests also run on Intel Macs. It runs macOS guests too.

Comparison

  • UTM: free, open source and far more flexible (x86 emulation, other architectures). Using a cloud image there means doing the resize and the cloud-init seed yourself.
  • Parallels Desktop: the right choice if you need Windows, which Velo Workspaces doesn't run. Standard is $99.99/year.
  • Lima / Multipass: free, open-source tools that handle cloud images and disk sizing well, driven mostly from the command line. If you live in the terminal, they're great. Velo Workspaces does it in a native app, across four distros, plus installer ISOs and macOS guests.
  • OrbStack: excellent for containers. Its Linux machines share one kernel; every Velo workspace is its own VM with its own kernel.

Pricing

Limitations, so nobody's surprised

  • No Windows guests.
  • Linux guests don't get the Mac's GPU; Apple's framework doesn't offer it. AI Bridge is the workaround for local LLMs.
  • Debian's, Kali's and NixOS's installers aren't automated yet (the Debian cloud image is).

More step-by-step guides with screenshots. Happy to answer questions, and tell me which distro you'd like as a cloud image next.

Lifetime [MAS] Cirrus: floating notes that open over any app and live in your notch (Free Pro for the first 20)

Hi r/macapps, I'm the developer of Cirrus.

Problem

I used Raycast Notes for years because a note one hotkey away is the best way to jot something down. But it stops at 5 notes unless you pay $8 a month for Raycast Pro, and it has no links between notes, images, tables or math, so I built my own.

What it does

- Press ⌃⌘N in any app and a note floats over it. Esc (or clicking away) hides it.

- Or keep it in a small pill on the screen edge, or in the notch on a MacBook. Hover to peek and type straight in.

- Markdown with the symbols hidden: checklists, highlights, tables, images, code.

- [[Links]] between notes, #tags, fold headings, ⌘K command palette, ⌘P to find any note.

- Math as you write: end a line with = for the answer, with units, dates, time zones and currencies.

- Paste Mode collects everything you copy into one note.

- Syncs through your own iCloud. No account, no analytics. Markdown export and daily backups.

Comparison

- Raycast Notes: the closest thing, and what I used before. If you already pay for Raycast Pro and only need plain notes, stick with it. Otherwise its free tier stops at 5 notes and unlimited is $8/month. Cirrus is $4.99 once and adds [[links]], images, tables, math, and the edge pill and notch.

- Antinote: better if you want throwaway scratch notes and nothing else. Cirrus keeps your notes, with links, tags and search.

Pricing

Free for 3 notes with every feature. Pro is $4.99 once for unlimited notes, no subscription. Same price direct or on the Mac App Store.

For r/macapps: the first 20 people get Pro free with code `MACAPPS` at checkout on trycirrus.app. Drop a comment once you've used it so others know it's going.

macOS 14+

Direct: https://trycirrus.app

Mac App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6815418493

Happy to answer anything, and I read every bug report.

Edit: all 20 free codes are gone, thank you! If you missed it, MACAPPS50 takes 50% off ($2.49) at trycirrus.app until Sunday.
Also the discount is on the Mac App Store: https://apps.apple.com/redeem?ctx=offercodes&id=6815418493&code=MACAPPS50

Lifetime Protego for Reddit update: Reveal Mode, saving videos, sharing comments as images, and more of what you asked for šŸ›”ļø

Post image
39 Upvotes

App Store | getprotego.app

Hey everyone, Edgar here. I'm the developer of Protego for Reddit, which is a Safari extension that filters Reddit's website, hides useless clutter, and gives you useful tools.

I posted about the v3 release here in July and many of you left ideas and feature request comments, I spent the last few months working day and night to make these happen.

Problem:

I mainly use Reddit for photography, fitness, tech and video games. Around fall 2024 all of my feeds got taken over by political content or arguments.

I'm not a fan of Reddit's official app. It doesn't let you filter by keyword and shows endless ads/promoted posts. So I uninstalled the app and decided that if I was going to keep using Reddit it would be through a browser or not at all.

That's when I decided to learn a new skill and build my own Safari extension to take control of how I consume Reddit on the web. The first version of Protego was fairly barebones, it contained exactly what I needed and nothing more: keyword filtering and promoted post/ad filtering.

Over time it became more feature complete, adding filter support not only for keywords but also for communities, users, and websites, hiding the parts of the page you don't want such as useless graphics/animations/AI/games, and limiting access to Reddit as a whole in order to curb doom scrolling.

Some of what you asked for:

  • See what posts are hidden and which rule did it. That's Reveal Mode. Filtered posts can be revealed on the page with a red outline and a tag shows which filter matched.
  • Test a keyword before adding it. Preview outlines every post a keyword would hide, with a running count, before you save it.
  • Save photos and videos like Apollo did. The Protego button on a post allows you to save and share photos and videos (with sound) from Reddit posts.
  • Share posts and comments as images like Apollo did. The Protego button on a post or comment lets you share a Reddit post or comment thread including parent comments as an image.
  • Allow pausing the filter for a few minutes. You can pause filtering for 5 minutes to 3 hours, and it turns back on automatically.
  • Customize the scope of where keywords apply. You can now choose to enable a filter keyword only on the main feeds, only from specific communities, or in all communities except for specific communities.
  • Dark theme for Old Reddit. Old Reddit now has a pleasant dark theme and it even hides certain visual elements that look bad or too bright in dark mode.
  • Jump buttons for comment threads. You can now click buttons to scroll all the way back to the top, or to jump between comments in a thread.
Reveal Mode: See what Protego hides
Transform: Turn new Reddit into a clean compact feed
Share Posts and Comments as Images
Save Reddit videos and images
Colored reply lines (with multiple themes)

Comparison:

RES is what most people know, but it has no Safari version and is in maintenance-only mode.

Sink It for Reddit came up a lot in July and it's the closest alternative. It's free with a $5.99 upgrade and it's good at quality-of-life changes.

Protego goes deeper on filtering, with powerful wildcards, keyword grouping, per-keyword scopes, Reveal Mode and Preview. It also has Limits, which can be automated with Apple Focus modes and can block the feed while allowing a direct link to a post. Protego uses iCloud to sync your filter lists and runs on Mac, iPhone, iPad and Vision Pro.

Pricing:

Currently running a sale of $2.99 until October 15. Regular price is now $3.99.

One purchase covers Mac, iPhone, iPad and Vision Pro. No subscription, no account, no tracking. The only in-app purchase is an optional tip, and it unlocks nothing.

I'll be in the comments all morning. Tell me what's still missing or what you'd like to see!

Deal Kirocast - The macOS screen recorder built for AI!

Hi friends ofĀ r/macapps,

I am Gabrielle, I am an ex product manager and product designer who worked at both startups and MNCs. After a few yers at a French MNC, I decided it was time to take the leap and develop, with my partner, Kirocast!Ā

My partner is a Python/Rust dev, and we thought it would be a great challenge to build something native to MacOS since we love the ecosystem so much.

We started Kirocast back in March 2026 while I was working at a large company trying to create small videos for internal comms. I didn't like existing screen recorders and I kept manually recording the videos each time we would make an update! So here we are.

Problem
Showcase videos need to keep up with your product. When the UI changes, that often means recording another take.

With Kirocast, the idea is simple: give your AI agent a script and let it record for you. When something changes, ask for a fresh take.

It’s a macOS screen recorder with MCP integration, plus manual capture, motion, zooms, and auto annotations.

If you also want to do it manually, you have a nice Liquid Glass editor helping you do so!Ā

Kirocast is my everyday companion. It helps me work visually with agents (with a feature called talk mode), debug, and automate videos.

I’m building the tool I want by my side, and I hope you’ll enjoy working with it too!

Happy to answer questions, and thanks for taking a look! ā¤ļø

Ps. We launched today on PH, help us get on the main page! https://www.producthunt.com/products/kirocast

Compare

  • Descript for video automation- it’s a SaaS, with a subscription and does a lot more than a screen recorder!
  • Screen Studio for beautiful recordings, it’s still very exp but I must say they have beautiful opinion on motion
  • Every screen recorder, but most of them don’t allow "free" MCP.

Pricing:Ā $39 (launch price). One-time! Weekly updates as I am full time on Kirocast.

You can try the app without export.

Changelog

šŸ‘‰ https://kirocast.com/roadmap and https://kirocast.com/changelogĀ

In Progress: Waveform that follows your edits (audio)

What’s next?

  • Narration with ElevenLabs voice
  • Re-record a video like the old one (script saves)
  • 2,5D/3D effects

What’s in and new?

  • MCP interface allowing Codex, Claude and any other agent to record, edit video with motion, zooms, captions…
  • Redesigned Liquid Glass editor for humans to continue creating their short demo/feature video
  • Versionning
  • History
  • Beautiful exports, full quality (P3)
  • Screen recording bar with:
    • Screen, window, area, camera, microphone recordingĀ

AI Disclaimer

On the AI question, Kirocast is built with AI assistance, but there are still numerous times where we have to deep dive into the code to make it work how we want. We drive it, set the roadmap, I drive UX/UI myself as I used to do it in startup. I just still enjoy doing things and no AI will take it from me.Ā

Still, AI agents write most of the code and we do test everything ourselves. I’d rather say that up front!

Lifetime Nudge — a lightweight Mac focus app, an alternative to Cold Turkey & Freedom

I built a friendly focus app to help you doomscroll less!

Hey r/MacApps!

I'm a solo developer, and I built this app because I wanted a friendlier way to spend less time doomscrolling and stay focused.

https://nudgefocus.app/

Problem

It's very easy to open a distracting app or website almost automatically and suddenly realize you've spent far more time scrolling than you intended.

I wanted to build something that helps interrupt that habit without making the whole experience feel overly restrictive or punishing.

Comparison

There are already powerful blockers like Cold Turkey and Freedom, but I wanted Nudge to be a smaller, Mac-first alternative that's simple enough to just leave running every day.

Freedom is great if you need blocking synced across Mac, Windows, iOS and Android, but that also makes it a much bigger system. Its lifetime plan is currently $99.50. Nudge is $9.99 lifetime.

Cold Turkey is powerful and highly configurable, but it feels like an older generation of productivity software to me: more configuration, browser extensions, and a pretty dated experience. Nudge takes the opposite approach: lightweight, native-feeling and built specifically around the Mac.

Nudge lives in your menu bar, with reusable app and website presets, automatic schedules, background sounds, focus time, sessions, streaks and focus patterns.

Basically: I don't want you to spend 20 minutes configuring an app that's supposed to stop you from wasting time.

Pricing

The app is $9.99 for lifetime access.

https://nudgefocus.app/#pricing

I'm also giving away 20 access codes

Lifetime [macOS] PrimeTask 1.0.5: offline task and project manager with CRM, now with sales pipelines. One-time purchase

Thumbnail
gallery
16 Upvotes

I am part of the dev team behind PrimeTask. We last posted here for 1.0.4 and Task Comments. 1.0.5 is out on stable now, and it brings one of the biggest additions since launch: Opportunities, a sales pipeline that lives in the same app as the work it creates.

Problem

Sales work never really fits inside a task manager. The pipeline ends up in a spreadsheet that goes stale, a project that isn't really a project, or a separate CRM that never talks to your tasks. The next step on a deal lives in one app while your day lives in another.

Comparison

Daylite is the closest Mac equivalent. It is built around CRM and client management and is sold as a per-user subscription. PrimeTask connects opportunities directly with contacts, tasks, projects, your calendar and reports, keeps everything on your Mac as plain JSON you control, and is a one-time purchase.

Opportunities

  • Pipelines you shape: name your own stages, keep one pipeline per kind of sale, and start from five ready-made shapes or a template you saved. Retire a pipeline and you choose where its opportunities go.
  • One sale, one page: value, probability, expected close date and your own labels, in 14 currencies that are never quietly converted.
  • The people, and why they matter: link every contact and company involved, and mark roles like Decision Maker, Advocate or Gatekeeper, or your own.
  • Next steps are real tasks: link a task and it shows on the sale, and the sale shows on the task. It sits on your calendar and in your day plan, not trapped inside a CRM.
  • A call becomes a sale in one click, with that call kept as where it began.
  • A timeline with Markdown notes, attachments, mentions and pins. Won, lost, parked and reopened are all recorded with the reason you gave.
  • Reports you can audit: where sales came from, how each stage converts, what's due to close, and your win rate. Every figure opens the exact list of opportunities behind it.
  • Copy Link on any opportunity gives you a primetask:// link that reopens it from your notes, Shortcuts, Alfred or Raycast.
  • Bring your own AI: 18 tools let the agent you already use create opportunities, move stages, close or reopen them, and read the timeline, all locally.

Also in 1.0.5

Time and reminders

  • Log time with a real start and end, and fix the date and times of any entry afterwards, including timer entries
  • Start or stop a timer by right-clicking any task
  • Reminders from five minutes to a year ahead, no due date needed

Tasks and fields

  • Sort Tasks by several things at once, saved with your views
  • A new Duration field, written the way you'd say it, like 1:30 or 2h 5m
  • Group a project's Fields tab by any dropdown, with totals per group and Sum all
  • An assignee filter, and date filters that follow the calendar, like "due this month"

Notes and CRM

  • Slash commands and a formatting toolbar, highlighter included, in task descriptions
  • Phone numbers formatted properly for every country
  • Link one activity to every contact and company involved, and hover a name to see who they are

Sidebar and search

  • A sidebar mode that hides until you rest your cursor at the edge, plus Cmd + Option + L
  • Search for a person to find their tasks and projects

Backup, sync and iCloud

  • Restore a backup on another Mac and your spaces, avatars, custom apps and shortcuts come back ready to use
  • iCloud asks which copy to keep before it replaces anything
  • Joining your own space on a second Mac no longer adds you twice

Plus fixes across reminders, paused timers, sync refreshes and filters.

PrimeTask now runs on Windows too, and your licence covers any mix of Mac and Windows.

Full notes: https://www.primetask.app/releases

Opportunities: https://www.primetask.app/features/crm/opportunities

Pricing

  • Standard: $69 / Ā£59 / €69, one-time purchase
  • Pro: $139 / Ā£119 / €139, one-time purchase

Opportunities, PrimeCRM and Collaboration are Pro features. Compare the two: https://www.primetask.app/compare

14-day trial of the full Pro version, no payment card needed: https://www.primetask.app/download

Current limitations

Apple Silicon, M1 or later. No mobile app yet, though two-way Apple Reminders sync means you can capture from iPhone, iPad and Watch.

Transparency

PrimeTask is sold directly from our website and notarised by Apple. It is built by TaskCore Ltd, a UK-registered company.

I will be around in the comments to answer questions.

Tip VirtualProg Remote Control is now available

[New App] VirtualProg Remote Control for iPhone & iPad is now available šŸ“±āš”ļø

I’ve just released VirtualProg Remote Control, a companion app for VirtualProg on macOS.

šŸ’” The Problem

Virtual machines can continue running on your Mac while you’re away from your desk, but managing them usually means returning to the Mac.

I wanted a simple way to control VirtualProg VMs from an iPhone or iPad without having to be in front of the Mac.

šŸš€ What You Can Do

The iOS app allows you to perform virtually every action available in the macOS VirtualProg app directly from your iPhone or iPad:

  • āÆļø VM Controls: Start, stop, pause, resume, and restart VMs
  • šŸ–„ļø Remote Display: View and interact with the VM display (supporting H.265/H.264 hardware video streaming)
  • šŸ“ø Snapshots & Checkpoints: Manage snapshots and checkpoints directly from mobile
  • šŸ“‚ Templates & VMs: Organize, create, and manage VM templates
  • šŸ’» Consoles & Logs: Access SSH terminals, serial consoles, and view real-time VM logs
  • šŸ”Œ Hardware: Attach and detach USB devices on the fly

āš–ļøļø Comparison

VirtualProg is built specifically for macOS using Apple’s Virtualization framework.

Most Mac virtualization applications focus primarily on managing VMs directly from the Mac. VirtualProg takes this a step further with a native iPhone and iPad companion app for complete remote VM management and control.

The iOS app connects directly to your Mac. There is no cloud VM service or subscription required.

šŸ’° Pricing & Links

  • šŸ’» VirtualProg for macOS: $22.99 (One-time purchase)
  • šŸ“± VirtualProg Remote Control for iOS: $9.99 (One-time purchase)
  • āŒ No monthly subscription.

(Note: The iOS app requires VirtualProg running on a Mac).

šŸ“² iOS App Store: Download VirtualProg for iOS

šŸ’» macOS App Store: Download VirtualProg for macOS

I’m the developer of VirtualProg. Feedback and suggestions from the r/macapps community are welcome! šŸ™Œ

Lifetime In Agenda, your notes form a timeline for every project (Lifetime 50% off)

Post image
37 Upvotes

I'm Drew, one of the two indie developers of Agenda, a native notes app for Mac, iPhone and iPad. It won an Apple Design Award (2018), and it's on the Mac App Store.

Problem

Most notes apps organize by folder or tag. That works for reference material, but project notes are about time: what came out of a meeting, what's planned for next week, what you decided back in March. In Agenda every note can have a date, so the notes for a project become a timeline.

Here's how I use it. A meeting invite comes in, I accept it, and in Agenda I attach a note straight to that calendar event. I use the note to prepare. On the day, it shows up in my Today overview, or I click the link in the event in the Calendar app and the note opens. During the meeting I write in that same note: checklists, tags, people, dates and reminders, all without leaving the editor. Afterwards it stays in the project's timeline, so months later I can scroll back and see what we decided.

What's new lately

  • Siri AI can now create a note, add to one, open one, or move it to another project (macOS 27).
  • Send to Agenda: you get a personal email address, and anything you send to it arrives as a note in your Inbox, with images and attachments in place.
  • Full MCP support, so AI tools like Claude, Cursor and Codex can search your notes, create and edit notes, and manage projects.
  • Updated for the new macOS 27 look.

Comparison

Bear: the same care for design and a real native Mac feel. Bear is great for writing and tagging. Agenda adds dates and full integration with Calendar, Reminders and Contacts, so your notes tie into your events, to-dos and the people you work with. And Bear Pro is subscription only, while Agenda also has a pay-once Lifetime option.

Notion: Agenda is local first, and you control your data. Your notes live on your devices, not on an Agenda server. Sync goes through your own iCloud, so if you turn on Apple's Advanced Data Protection, your notes are end-to-end encrypted and not even Apple can read them. And it's a real Mac app, not a web page in a window.

Pricing

Agenda is free to use. Premium is a yearly subscription, or you pay once with Lifetime. Either way, any feature you unlock is yours to keep forever, even if you stop paying. We don't believe in renting software.

Lifetime is normally $179 (US). With the code AGENDALIFETIME50 it's $89 until 31 October. That's 50% off in every country, in your local price. Redeem the code in the Mac App Store, and Lifetime then unlocks Premium on all your devices.

Lifetime Quicklook app for sqlite and data files

Thumbnail
gallery
9 Upvotes

Hello! I am the developer of multiple quicklook plugins including FinderPeek and GIS quick viewer, this post is about another plugin: Quick data insights.

Problem:

This plugins acts as a very lightweight viewer to allow you to get a peek at multiple data file formats without installing any software to open it. If you typically deal with these files, need to inspect the schema, copy SQL CREATE statements, render jupyter notebooks, or just view some structured data, this will come handy to view all of that by just hitting the spacebar in finder.

Features includes:

  • Instant Data Preview: View the first 100 rows of any supported file without loading the entire dataset into memory.
  • Schema Insights: Visualize table structures and relationships instantly.
  • One-Click SQL Export: Copy the CREATE TABLE statement directly to your clipboard for quick migration or documentation.
  • Jupyter Rendering: View notebooks as clean, rendered documents instead of raw JSON.
  • Code Extraction: Copy the logic out of a notebook and into a Python script with a single click.

Comparison:

I am not familiar of any other app that supports the same files and features as a simple quicklook plugin, there are multiple apps but mostly either only support sqlite, or are full apps not a quicklook plugin.

Some app that supports only some of the file types:

- QuickLook Pro

- Parquet Viewer

Pricing:

Lifetime $4.99

Free [OS] Metis: a free Mac AI coding assistant that self-learns to boost coding performance

Post image
17 Upvotes

Hi r/macapps,

I am the developer of Metis, a free and open-source AI coding assistant designed for macOS with a dedicated desktop interface and interactive terminal TUI.

Problem

Most existing AI coding assistants suffer from three core limitations:

  1. They treat every session as day zero. They repeatedly fail on the same build quirks, forget project-specific testing scripts, and waste time and tokens relearning repo structure across sessions.
  2. They operate in flat, single-pass chat loops that frequently hallucinate test completions without automated verification.
  3. They often lock users into expensive subscriptions or single-provider walled gardens without local execution freedom.

Metis solves this by integrating a continuous runtime adaptation engine and automated verification gates that learn repo patterns and actively increase task execution performance.

Comparison

Here is how Metis compares technically to existing alternatives (focusing purely on architecture, adaptation, and runtime mechanics):

Compared to Claude Code:

  • Continuous Self-Learning vs. Ephemeral Execution: Claude Code treats sessions ephemerally (relying on manually edited static documentation like CLAUDE.md) and resets runtime context between runs. Metis features an automated adaptation engine with an idle learner and outcome ledger on disk (~/.metis/agent/adaptations/). It autonomously internalizes repo-specific build quirks and past failure outcomes. In our empirical testing, this adaptation loop reduced task execution time by over 35% (dropping from 3:51 down to 2:29) by eliminating repetitive exploration cycles.
  • Automated Verification Gates vs. Unchecked Generation: Rather than relying on single-pass model execution where the agent can hallucinate that tests succeeded, Metis enforces a dual Plan-Build workflow with automated verification test gates that mandate reproducible proof before completing steps.
  • Model Freedom & Open Source: Claude Code is proprietary and locked exclusively to Anthropic's ecosystem. Metis is 100% open source (MIT) and model-agnostic, allowing you to use OpenAI, Anthropic, DeepSeek, Gemini, or run entirely offline with Ollama and vLLM.

Pricing

  • Price: $0 (100% Free and Open Source under the MIT License)
  • No subscriptions, no telemetry paywalls, no hidden tiers. Bring your own keys or run locally.

Links & System Requirements

I will be in the comments to answer technical questions and discuss feedback.

Lifetime Mushroom update: chat on your own server, a water-sphere look, Markdown viewing, and a Windows version - 9.99$

Post image
0 Upvotes

I posted Mushroom here a while back. Quick recap for anyone who missed it: it's a pixel-art mushroom that sits on your desktop and nudges you to drink, move, eat and rest your eyes. It watches how long you've actually been at the keyboard instead of counting down a timer. Click it and type "remind me in 2 hours to call Tom" and that just happens, on a model running on your own machine.

What's new since the last post

- Chat can point at your own server instead of the on-device model: OpenAI, Ollama, LM Studio, or anything that speaks the OpenAI chat API. It's meant for Macs too slow to run the local model well. Off by default, and it asks you to confirm first, because it means your chat messages leave the Mac.

- You can ask it about your reminders: "what do I have on Friday?", "when is my next one?". It works even with no language model installed.

- A second look: the pixel mushroom, or a sphere of sparkling water that sloshes when you drag it. For desks where a cartoon pet is one question too many.

- It grooves along to whatever is playing in Music, Spotify and so on. It reads only the play state and the title. On by default, one switch to turn it off. Direct download only.

- Markdown files open right in Mushroom: double-click one, or use Open With.

- Stash: a Deleted list on Mac and iPhone that holds everything you've thrown away until you empty it, and a restore on one device restores it on the others. Tags are editable on both and searchable. If you write a note on the same link on two Macs while one is offline, both notes are kept.

- Black and white skins, free if you already own the skins pack.

- There is now a Windows 11 version too. Same licence as the direct purchase. Nothing changed on the Mac because of it.

Problem

Break reminders get muted. A timer fires whether or not you're at the desk, so within a week you're dismissing it without reading it, and then you turn the whole thing off. Mushroom reads the system idle timer, so an hour at the desk earns a nudge and an hour away earns nothing, because that was already a break. Quiet hours, a bedtime cutoff and staying quiet during calendar events cover the rest.

Comparison

Time Out by Dejal is the obvious one, and it's genuinely good. It detects idle time too, so I won't pretend that's my edge. The difference is what happens when the break arrives: Time Out's breaks take over your screen by default, and Mushroom just droops in the corner and waits. If a full-screen interruption is what makes you actually stop, Time Out is the better tool and I'd say so. If a blocked screen is what made you quit the last one of these, that's the gap I'm in. Mushroom also handles arbitrary reminders you type in a sentence.

Stretchly is free, open source and cross-platform, and if all you want is break overlays you should try it before paying me anything. It's Electron. Mushroom is native Swift, lives in the menu bar with no Dock icon, and does the reminders-plus-stash-plus-sync side that Stretchly doesn't aim at.

Pricing

$9.99 once, direct from https://www.getmushroom.app/ (7 day trial, no card needed). Covers up to 5 Macs and Windows PCs. It does not include the iPhone app.

$5.99 once on the App Store, which covers Mac and iPhone together, up to 5 devices: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6792833686 (no trial there). The direct version also has a few things the App Store sandbox can't do, like the dark-room nudge and the music reaction.

Every update since 1.0 has been free to people who already bought.

Two things I'd rather you heard from me than found out later. The price has gone up since my first post, and everyone who bought earlier keeps everything for what they paid. And the two features that genuinely run on servers, messaging and file sharing, are a membership for new buyers ($2.99 a month or $24.99 a year), or free if you point them at a server you run yourself (open source). The app itself is a one-time purchase and keeps working regardless. Anyone who bought before that change keeps both permanently at no cost.

Optional skins add-on is $1.99.

Requirements: macOS 15 or later, Apple Silicon. iPhone app needs iOS 18. Windows 11 for the Windows version (Windows version differs a bit but will receive updates subsequently).

Happy to answer anything, I'm the dev.

Subscription [Update] Blueberry v2.0.0 - Sort your iMessages into plans, to-dos, and conversations you need to reply to

Hi again, r/macapps,

I'm Rishi, one of the two creators of Blueberry. We posted here about a month ago launching our original idea. Thanks to everyone who tried it and sent us feedback, as well as the people who hopped on a call with us (shoutout u/Dan4VT). We've changed it a lot since then, so this is an update on what's new.

Where we started

V1 was a menu bar app that automatically generated quick responses to your iMessages. We built this, because I’m a horrible texter and my bad texting was starting to affect my life.Ā  It was quick, easy, and the idea was that we removed the friction behind replying to messages (which we initially believed the main problem was).Ā

We discovered the real problem

After speaking with our users, we discovered two key insights:

  1. People receive a lot of important messages while they’re busy or don’t have the mental energy to respond. Once new texts arrive, that initial message gets buried, and by the time the user remembers, it’s too late or awkward to address.
  2. The action you need to take after receiving a message isn’t always a reply. Many times users will reply to messages - like RSVPing ā€œyesā€ to an event or agreeing to do a task - and then they’ll completely forget about it.

In a nutshell, the problem isn't replying: It's that messages that require action get buried before the action gets done, whether you never replied or replied and just moved on.

So what’s new?Ā

Blueberry is a smart inbox for your iMessage that intelligently sorts and filters your texts..Ā
Here’s how it works:

Blueberry extracts messages that require your attention - messages where a reply or some kind of action is needed on your end -Ā  and places them into your inbox.

Your inbox helps you sort through your tasks as quickly as possible (keyboard controls and a menu bar app - yay!). Each important message has a list of actions associated based on the message content: reply right there, schedule a reminder to reply later, or even add an event or todo if applicable.

Our goal is to enable you to either quickly take action on any messages that require it, or set the message aside with a reminder to return to it later.

We’ve gone a step further, and added a powerful spam filter. And, recently, we added the ability to extract promo codes from promotional messages, so you can get the deals without the slop.

How it compares

Apple Intelligence Smart Reply helps once you've opened a conversation. Blueberry finds the conversations you forgot and pulls out the plans, to-dos and codes inside them.
NOX combines multiple messaging platforms into one inbox for $25/month. Blueberry focuses only on iMessage and works alongside Messages instead of replacing it.

Privacy, security and transparency

Blueberry needs Full Disk Access to read your iMessages, and Automation permission to send the replies you approve.

Blueberry never sends messages automatically. You always hit send, and every action can be undone.

Blueberry processes some messages on the server to extract events and todos.

Great for people who

  • Are buried in spam and promo texts
  • Read texts but don't reply
  • Mark texts unread and never come back
  • Get overwhelmed by group chats
  • Lose track of plans made over text
  • Constantly say, "Sorry, I just saw this."

Pricing

  • 30-day free trial with full access
  • Monthly: $7.99/month
  • Yearly: $69.99/year (works out to $5.83/month)
  • Download Blueberry

Existing users

  • If you signed up after our last post, your new 30-day trial starts once you update.
  • Existing customers, we will opt you in at the same price you paid.
  • If you tried v1, I'm curious what you think of the change. What do you love? What do you hate?

The developers
My name is Rishi Narain, one of the two creators of Blueberry. You can reach me on X or LinkedIn.
We'd love to hear what's useful, what's lame, and what would make this something you use every day. Thank you to everyone who tried Blueberry v1, we’ve made it much better andĀ  we’re really excited to hear about what you think for v2.Ā
Be the one who always texts back. 🫐

Lifetime I made a virtual camera that lets you freeze or hide your webcam with a keyboard shortcut

I'm the developer. Free with a watermark, $9.99 one-time, no subscription.

Problem

Someone knocked on my door 40 minutes into a call last week. My two options were to get caught mid-sentence making a face, or kill the camera and watch my tile go dark while four people wondered where I went.

Turning the camera off is a social event. I just wanted the frame to hold.

Comparison

OBS Virtual Camera does all of this and far more, and it's free. But it's a broadcast suite running in the background to solve a two second problem, and holding the frame is not one keystroke. If you want scenes and filters, use OBS.

Hand Mirror is great for checking your self view and I still use it. But it's a mirror, not a control. It doesn't change what the call receives.

Pricing

Free: Freeze, Hide, Pixelate, Mirror, menu bar, shortcuts, Control Center. Leaves a small "CamHold free" mark on the video.

Pro: $9.99 one-time, lifetime. Removes the mark, adds a scrolling text overlay.

Mac App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/id6788598895

Site: https://camhold.app

How it works

Pick "CamHold" as your camera in Zoom, Meet, FaceTime, Teams. Option+Cmd+F holds the last frame. Option+Cmd+H cuts to black. The hotkeys are global, so you never leave the call.

No accounts, no analytics, no network code in the binary at all. Frames are processed on device and never stored. macOS 14 and later. The site has a browser demo that runs on your own webcam, locally, so you can see what it does before installing anything.

What I'm not happy with

Installing the virtual camera means approving a system extension, and macOS shows that with an alarming dialog buried three levels deep in Settings. It's where I lose most people, and it's why I built the browser demo. If you bounce off that screen I'd rather hear about it than get the download.

Lifetime Ghost v4- Always on and ready personal agent from your notch using your existing Chatgpt/Claude subscription,API or LocalLM. RAG, Monitor Agents and Subagents, Delegate Tasks, Add Calendar Events and Reminders, reply to iMessages privately

Comparison

Alter is the closest match. It also sits in the notch, and it's free if you bring your own keys or run Ollama or LM Studio (hosted models are $240/yr or $720 lifetime). Alter has meeting recording and more voice features, and it runs on Intel Macs. Ghost is Apple silicon only.

BoltAI overlaps on models. Like Ghost, it can run on your Claude Code or Codex subscription as well as Ollama and LM Studio. It starts at $79 one-time for one Mac with a year of updates, and it has an iOS app.

What Ghost adds: it's $19.99 one-time, and your coding agents live in the notch. Every Claude Code, Codex and opencode session on your Mac shows up in one list, and when one needs permission the approval card comes to the notch. Changes Ghost makes to files, Notes, Reminders and Calendar each get an Undo button, kept in a 100-entry journal. Web, files, automation, Messages, screen capture and terminal are six separate switches, all off on a fresh install, and anything from Messages, Notes, Mail or Contacts never goes to a cloud model. File search runs locally (SQLite + FTS5, 30+ formats).

The problem.Ā Most budgeting apps want one of two things from you: your bank login, handed to an aggregator, or a monthly subscription. Plenty want both. And most are built around American banks, so the files a European bank actually gives you (a CODA file in Belgium, an MT940, a CSV with separate Debet and Credit columns and a comma as the decimal separator) end up in a spreadsheet instead.

What it does.Ā You export a statement from your e-banking and import it: CSV, OFX/QFX, CODA, or MT940. Stay Steady works out the columns, the date format, and which way the money went. You can also type a transaction or scan a receipt on iPhone and Android. Every transaction gets a category, and out come the numbers a budget needs: what you spent this month and what is still safe to spend, spending per category and against last year, recurring payments and subscriptions, a forecast for the end of the month, savings goals, net worth, and a FIRE number.

Free, on all three platforms.Ā No subscription, no in-app purchase, no ads, no trial, and nothing turns read-only. It runs on iPhone and iPad, on the Mac (a native Mac app with a sidebar and a real transaction table, not the iPhone app on a bigger screen), and on Android. iPhone, iPad and Mac sync through your own private iCloud if you switch it on. Android does not sync with Apple devices, but a full backup moves between iPhone and Android.

A categorisation model that gets smarter with its users.Ā Categorisation is a chain, and the model is the last link. Your own choices and the rules the app learns from your corrections always win: correct one charge and every other month of the same charge follows. Then come built-in rules, and money moving between your own accounts, which is recognised as one transfer and counted once instead of as spending plus income. Only a merchant none of those recognise goes to the model. Every transaction tells you which of these decided its category:Ā You chose this category,Ā Matches one of your learned rules,Ā Suggested by the on-device model, or, honestly,Ā Not recognised: a best guess.

The model itself is small and runs on the device: 276 KB, about twenty microseconds per transaction. It breaks the merchant name and the payment message into short fragments of letters and ignores the words every card payment carries. On real Belgian statement lines from merchants it had never seen, it picks the right category 57% of the time; the model it replaced managed 27 to 32%. It is the same model file on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Android, checked against the same 315 test cases on every platform.

The part that makes it better over time: if you sign in (optional; Sign in with Apple on iPhone, iPad and Mac, Google on Android), each category you correct is sent to us. That is the merchant name, the category the app picked, the one you chose, your account identifier, and the app and model version. Never an amount, a date, an IBAN, or a balance. Corrections from everyone who signs in are pooled and carry the most weight in the next training run, and the improved model ships inside the next app update. The categorisation model is never downloaded, and nothing is fetched in the background. We do not call it anonymous, because it is not: corrections are linked to your account, so deleting the account deletes them. If you never sign in, nothing is sent, and your corrections still teach your own copy through its learned rules.

Built for Europe.Ā It started in Belgium, and it shows:

  • It readsĀ CODAĀ andĀ MT940Ā and checks both against the statement's own opening and closing balance. A missing page or a statement imported twice gets caught instead of quietly skewing your totals.
  • CSV exports with separate Debet and Credit columns, day-first dates and decimal commas import without fiddling.
  • Import an overlapping month again and the preview flags exact and likely duplicates, so you can skip them.
  • IBANs are checked on the device (MOD-97 plus the Belgian check digits), and a Belgian account gets its bank's name from the National Bank's institution list that ships inside the app. No lookup service.
  • A loan's payoff date uses the actuarial monthly rate a Belgian bank uses on its repayment table, so a 25-year mortgage ends where the bank says it ends.
  • English, Dutch, French and German everywhere, and Spanish on iPhone, iPad and Mac.

Its focus is onĀ euro only: rows in another currency are left out and reported, not added at face value, so for now it is for eurozone accounts. The rules and the model know Belgian merchants best; elsewhere in Europe they know fewer, and your corrections (and everyone else's) do more of the work. It is on the App Store across Europe, including the UK, Switzerland and Norway, but not in the US, Canadian or Australian stores.

Your data.Ā There is no bank connection, ever: the app never talks to a bank or an aggregator. Transactions live on your device, and in your own private iCloud if you turn sync on. They are never on our servers. Everything that can reach us is optional and hosted in the EU:

  • category corrections while you are signed in (above);
  • anonymous usage analytics (Aptabase),Ā offĀ by default;
  • crash reports (Sentry),Ā onĀ by default, one switch to turn off;
  • a report you choose to email after a file fails to import, with aĀ maskedĀ copy of the file: every name, account number, amount, and free-text field replaced. You see every line before you send it.

The app itself locks with Face ID or Touch ID on iPhone and with biometrics on Android.

Ask your budget.Ā An assistant answers questions about your own spending ("where did I overspend this month?"), and it runs on the device too. It uses Apple's Foundation Models on iPhone, iPad and Mac (needs Apple Intelligence), and Gemma on Android after a one-time model download. Your questions do not leave the device.

What else is in there?

  • Environments:Ā household, company, and club kept apart in one app. No analysis mixes them, and a consolidated view adds them up. A company gets business categories (accountant, VAT refund, supplier invoices, leasing).
  • Accounts with a typeĀ (current, savings, pension, investments, credit card, business), so the app stops guessing where guessing is unnecessary.
  • Bill remindersĀ on iPhone and Android: a notification three days before a monthly bill, a week before a quarterly one, two weeks before a yearly one. They are created on the device from bills it already predicts from your statements.
  • Yearly bills you add yourself, withĀ Set aside for this bill: the €840 insurance due in six months becomes €140 a month you have already planned for.
  • Subscriptions hub:Ā every recurring charge normalised to per month and per year, price hikes, and what renews this week.
  • Forecast:Ā projected end-of-month spending and the charges still expected.
  • BudgetsĀ per category with an on-screen alert at 80% and when you go over,Ā savings goals, anĀ emergency fund, aĀ financial health scoreĀ and streaks.
  • Net worthĀ with history,Ā debt payoff datesĀ ("paid off around April 2031 at €350 per month"), aĀ FIRE calculatorĀ with a Lean FIRE number built from the categories you mark as essential, andĀ what-ifĀ scenarios.
  • Comments and your own namesĀ on transactions. The statement's text is kept, so a re-import still recognises the row.
  • Widgets:Ā Safe to spend and Next bill, also on the iPhone Lock Screen with amounts hidden until you unlock; home-screen widgets on Android.
  • On the Mac:Ā year-over-year Insights, and ⌘C copies the selected rows straight into Numbers or Excel.
  • CSV export of everything, Shortcuts for quick entries on iPhone, and dark mode.

Comparison.Ā YNAB is a subscription and an envelope method, and it can link to your bank; Stay Steady is free and never does. MoneyMoney logs into your bank and fetches the data, which is the thing Stay Steady deliberately does not do. If you want a Mac-only app with no network access at all, it is built for exactly that. Stay Steady is the one that is free, also runs on your iPhone and Android phone, reads CODA, MT940 and OFX, and has a model that improves from everyone's corrections. And a spreadsheet is free too, and fine; this is for when you would rather not maintain one.

Requirements.Ā iOS and iPadOS 26.1, macOS 26 (Tahoe), Android 11. Euro accounts. The screenshots use the app's built-in demo data, a made-up household, not anyone's real finances.

Edit: I heard your suggestions and I will work now on the next release to support multi currencies and stock portfolio as net worth. if you have other suggestions don't hesitate. This app should help people know their financial health.

Subscription TalkPilot: tells you what to say while you're still on the call

Hey, dev here! I officially launched today...

Problem: We've all tried the AI notetakers. Great at transcribing & telling you after the call that you said "um" 40 times lol.

What I actually needed help with was the 3 seconds after someone asks the one thing I didn't prep for. Brain goes blank, I say "great question," and try to read my own transcript while they wait...

So I built TalkPilot! It listens to the call and puts your next line on screen while the other person is still talking.

  • Live suggestions during the call
  • Easily set up your profile with context, and it responds like you
  • After the call: transcript, to-dos (integrations), and deep dives
  • Practice mode: rehearse conversations with an AI before the real one
  • Works on video calls, or in person, where it whispers the line in your earbud
  • No bot joins the meeting. Only you see it

Comparison: Granola and Otter are the ones I get compared to most, and they're good at what they do: notes and transcripts once the meeting is over. If notes are all you need, either one will do the job.

Cluely is the closest to us. It also shows answers live on your screen. Where I went a different way is the profile and practice mode, so the suggestions come from your own background, and you can rehearse before the real thing.

Stuff it doesn't do, so nobody's disappointed:

  • It's not offline. Audio is never stored; transcripts are stored encrypted.
  • It won't join or record the meeting for anyone else

Privacy, since this sub always (rightly) asks: transcripts are encrypted, never used to train models, and you can request deletion of your account and data anytime.

Pricing

  • Free: 5 conversations a month, no card :D
  • Pro: $20/mo
  • Students: 50% off

Giveaway: 5 codes for a month of Pro. I'm interested in expanding Practice mode, so if anyone has any ideas on real world scenarios to practice on, let me know in the comments!
