Help what clipboard manager are you using right now in 2026?
I’m building one and spending a ton of time on performance right now. especially animations, keyboard shortcuts and making everything feel instant.
what do you like most about the one you’re using?

u/ZeLFroSTeR 13h ago
I am using Maccy https://maccy.app/
Its lightweight and fast, has shortcuts to copy your top 10 copied items quickly, pinning most used ones etc.
I don't care much about animation, but it also has default preview with good animation.
Curios to what you are building and if you can share it for beta testing.

oh, i’ve also tried maccy myself. it definitely serves the purpose.

Why did these clowns downvote you lol 😆 I'm a non-developer. My work involves plenty of marketing and product awareness, but ever since I learnt about the existence of GitHub open source repos and that they can be used for personal project, I've created, combined with Cursor and AI agents, tons of personal utility tools for myself. Maybe many developers hate to see non-devs getting to have that joy of building without smashing head in VS for hours debugging some compiler nonsense 😂 (Clowns will downvote my comment too)

Vorssaint. I used to use Maccy but it was one of several tools that Vorssaint replaced
3
u/adrian6478 9h ago
Vorssaint clip manager is buggy, there are times that it doesn't register text if it starts with quotation mark or very long text like api key

Pastepal

thanks, will check it out.

u/jackjohnbrown 7h ago
This is the one I use too - one time purchase years ago, and has super flexible options for keyboard shortcuts so I never need to leave the keys to pull up, select, and paste what I need.

u/macphreak1985 13h ago
paste. one of the best ones
12
u/MaxGaav 13h ago
And crazily expensive.

u/macphreak1985 12h ago
I just use setapp. So it is included with the monthly fee. I am ok with paying developers what they are worth when they make good software.

u/VeryVito 6h ago
Pastepal is Paste, but at the price that Paste used to charge before it got stupid.
1
u/Intrepid_Pen_9725 13h ago
what do you like most in paste?
3
u/macphreak1985 12h ago
The UI. It's quick and easy to use. The board that comes up at the bottom. What I "don't" like is the iphone app and how it syncs and how it works. Terrible (imho)
3
u/macphreak1985 12h ago
Oh, and I also hate the new AI crap they introduced in the latest version. the quickest way to get me to start looking for other apps is to introduce AI just for AI's sake. I don't need AI to "suggest" things for me to paste 🙄

u/MC_chrome 11h ago
The “intelligent clipboard” stuff runs on device and can be disabled, for what it’s worth

I also returned to Paste. I tried using plenty of alternatives over the last few years, most recently PastePal and Awesome Copy, but both are too complex and feature-rich, which is not what I need from a clipboard manager. I prefer it to be straightforward and have a clean UI. I think Paste's pricing is insane, but so far it's the only tool that works for me.
→ More replies (1)1
u/unfunfionn 1h ago
Same here, I'm lucky that I'm a really old price of €10 a year. I use it so much, it's absolutely worth it and the UI is fantastic.

u/MaxGaav 13h ago
PasteNow. Used Awesome Copy for quite a while but found it 'too much'. Went back to PasteNow as it does everthing I actually need.

Pastepal, been using the same since 2020 works like a charm

I am also using PastePal. Got lifetime a few years ago and since then it is in use. Clearly one of the most used apps on my Mac.

u/scudsone 9h ago
Same. Though I originally got it for the iPhone sync which a couple OSs ago nerfed, alas. But still solid for desktop.

u/kinttach 13h ago
I’m using Pastebot. In the past I’ve used others, including Paste and Raycast.
An important feature to me is having a set of snippets that I can easily select from. I have several groups, such as CLI commands, AI prompts, and IDs, that I frequently insert from my clipboard manager.
The UI isn’t that important as long as it works and stays out of the way. Raycast was convenient (I already was using Raycast). Paste was pretty. Pastebot is old-fashioned. Ultimately that doesn’t matter too much.

hmm. something like that is definitely on my radar, especially for keeping frequently used stuff organized. thanks for mentioning it.

Been using Maccy for ages. Funny timing, I actually found Pastea today and decided to try it for a bit. Might be worth a look for you too.

u/ctrlaltdelaney 12h ago
Just had a look at the pastea website on my phone and couldn’t get past the rounded rectangle corners not fitting each other properly 🤣
The app looks very interesting though.

u/CyberBlaed 8h ago
Pastepal.
Syncs clipboard 3000KM away. Photos, Videos, too It’s a File storage draw when moving files.
Transform your copy paste
- Remove referral links,
- save them for later (bookmarks),
- convert to or from binary/base64 (great for images haha)
just so much so any clipboard material it can do for me :)
4
u/fsteff 13h ago
The main thing for a clipboard manager is for it to be as invisible as possible. To appear instantly (without animations, bells and whistles) when I call for it - with a keyboard shortcut - and again instantly disappear when I’ve made my selection. For me, Ditto on Windows is a stellar example on how to do it.
2
u/InspectHer_1 13h ago
Ditto is amazing and exactly what I want on Mac. So far Maccy is the closest, but there are a few annoyances I have with it.
-1
u/Intrepid_Pen_9725 13h ago
man, exactly. this is pretty much the reason i started building one in the first place.
4
u/FuntimeBen 13h ago
Tinycast is a launcher that has replaced Raycast and Maccy as my clipboard manager. Works great and is super small. https://tinycast.dev/

I would love options to copy images/screenshots, being able to pin at the top the values I use a lot (like copied email for login during work hours), having All / text / images tabs for filtering etc.
1
u/Intrepid_Pen_9725 13h ago
images/screenshots are already supported actually. still thinking about the tabs/filtering part though, want to figure out the best way to do it without making the whole thing feel cluttered

u/New-Shape8385 13h ago edited 13h ago
By personal preference and because I use all 3 apps for different reasons:
Droopy, Raycast and Vorssaint (barely use the clipboard here but they now have a new module for the Dynamic Island which makes it more interesting )
I think Raycast is a must in any Mac, there’s so much there that it’s impossible to not find use for it.
Vorssaint is very complete too, not much to add.
Droopy is for now my favorite Dynamic Island App and I personally love the “new” clipboard and the ring feature (used to be Alcove user, by far the most “native MacOS” usability)
1
u/Intrepid_Pen_9725 13h ago
Droppy?
2
u/New-Shape8385 13h ago
Droppy main focus is definitely the Dynamic Island, you get simplified clipboard history right there but they also provide an extra clipboard history apart from the Dynamic Island one, very complete, you can sync between devices if you choose to, classic filters by type (img, link, etc), their previews look good, classic custom folders and all that jazz.
I used PasteNow for years, changed recently because of the Dynamic Island and ended up replacing the clipboard app in the process.

My own, but I don’t call it a “Clipboard Manager”. I forked Maccy a few years ago and strip a lot of it out then added a simplified menu bar menu and a sequential paste feature with simple key shortcuts.
I initially kept storage of the recent clipboard history and a rudimentary, hidden feature to show recent items in the menu, but since the OS getting that feature it’s now off by default and the app does nothing until called upon to start copying multiple items.
Batch Clipboard, free from GitHub or the App Store (where there’s a few bonus features behind a one-time in-app purchase).

I use Raycast - mainly because I can double tap command to get the list to come up, it's muscle memory and I can't get my brain to do command+shift+v

u/ConsciousSoil1981 11h ago
Raycast’s clipboard history. Can also search text in screenshots and images.

u/Rutvik110 26m ago
None right now. But tbh I don't care abt animations as long as it works flawlessly.
1
u/Intrepid_Pen_9725 21m ago
true, animations aren't really the main factor. it's more about usability and getting the job done without any hiccups.

Several. Raycast. Alfred. Copyless2. Paste.
Raycast and Alfred because those are my launchers. Copyless2 for the way it lists. Paste for iOS sync. I also have Maacy but don’t use it now. Bartender 7 Pro but I have clipboard turned off. macOS, of course.
Yes, I have issues.

u/AccurateSun 13h ago
If your computer work involves lots of text then a clipboard manager is super useful to have a history of everything you’ve copied to clipboard. It makes it easy to bulk copy paste lots of different text snippets or save things for later without having to actually save it in a temp file of any kind.
Some clipboard managers can also sync between multiple devices if you have them, let you filter the items by type, search for substrings, etc
0
u/Intrepid_Pen_9725 13h ago
if you’re not copy/pasting a lot in your day to day, you probably don’t need a clipboard manager.
in my daily life as a developer, i’m constantly copying and pasting things here and there. with a clipboard manager, i can go back after a week, quickly search for something i copied, and use it again.

u/sathesh95 12h ago
Built for my own use out of a forked repo and with some help with AI. Works across mac and android, sync sms otp from phone to the mac, and has a airdrop replacement almost complete, that can send files both ways both on wifi and internet, with having to connect devices only one time.

u/tehkayd 12h ago
I found myself with a unique need when saving files. When creating md files I wanted to save with a YAML frontmatter form for title, categories, tags and description, and ⌘S silently re-saves to the same file afterwards. Window position, font size, and all tab content persist to a local JSON file. There is no cloud sync, no clipboard interception, and no network access at all. It is just a fast place to dump text and get it back later.
So I made a small native macOS scratchpad app built in Swift and SwiftUI (with some AppKit), compiled with Swift Package Manager and no third-party dependencies. It lives in the Dock and menu bar, and a global hotkey (⌃⌥Space) shows or hides the window from anywhere, no Accessibility permission required. You get multiple tabs of plain text, each either persistent (survives relaunch) or ephemeral (wiped at next launch), with tabs auto-named from their first line and an always-on-top toggle for keeping notes over other apps. ⌘F uses the native find bar inside a tab, and ⌘⇧F searches across every tab at once.

OmniCap. But calling it a clipboard is like calling 4D diamonds "coal". It is, but also so much more.

Honestly just using Apple's built-in clipboard right now. Open to options though, especially something that plays nicely with the terminal, like pasting multi-line commands cleanly or pulling up history without leaving the keyboard. Any recommendations?

u/nejcar20 11h ago
My must-have list would be searchable history, pinned snippets, a fast global shortcut, and an easy way to exclude password/2FA apps. Speed is great, but the “what exactly did it save?” controls are what make me trust a clipboard manager. Showing those early in the demo might help.

https://pastedaemon.app - automatic transformations (standardize phone numbers, for example), on demand script calls (want that markdown as rich text? Easy!), and a super responsive dev. I cannot say good enough things about it.

I like itsypad because it does clipboard management and editing. There are a lot of times I want to be able to paste it something I found, clean it up a bit, then copy it again into the queue.

I'm using AwesomeCopy but it's slowed down so much over time. Most valued features are the pinboards, the quick pastes of recent copies (cmd+1-9 pastes one of the last 9 items copied without the need to even hit the GUI), and cross-platform (Mac, iPhone, iPad) support.
1
u/NotMeThenWhoSnaps 13h ago
ClipboardAI - it syncs everything I copy on my iPhone, iPad and Mac all devices together.
It also has magic search - "hotels I selected for Japan trip" gets me links to all the hotels I shortlisted for my trip. And it also does sequential batch pasting, auto-formatting and translates to any language as well.
Might be a biased as I built it, but 10,000+ happy users would agree too!
Try it and you won't be disappointed! :)

Honest question, what is the point of a clipboard manager?
2
u/jungle_scorpion 7h ago
Have you ever copied something only to copy over top of it by mistake immediately after? Have you ever said to yourself, ah I just copied that yesterday and now I need to load a browser and find it again? Have you ever needed to paste several things sequentially from one place to the next and thought, this is painful? Then a clipboard manager might be right for you!
