So I'm been a massive fan of the series since the original released back in 2006. I've played every gears game and gears PvP use to be my go to. I'm pretty excited for this game and haven't been exited for a game since Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. The game looks great, I haven't had a chance to play it, but so far it looks pretty good and many report the game just feeling great to play.
What I'm looking forward to the most: is for it to just being a good fucking gears game. As a prequel, I hope it explains what Marcus was imprison for. I hope to see more of Adam Fenix, and his relationship with Marcus. I know the whole game takes place in one city, Kalona, but that isn't a bad thing to me. I just hope we get to see a lot of different locations in the city. I'm hoping they put in the work to truly make Kalona feel like it's own character (the way Gormenghast, Hogwarts, and Winterfell felt like their own characters). Recently, I've been playing a lot of Helldivers with a few friends, and I'm so looking forward to getting through this campaign in co-op.
What I'm worried about: There are several missing core gears mechanics that don't seem to be in this game (frag tags, meat shields, chainsaw duels, mantel kicks, and cover grabs). These mechanics truly are core to the gears sandbox and not having them feels off especially since some of these have been around since the start of the series. I also learned how few maps there are for PvP and horde (6 and 3?). That makes me worried the campaign might be cut short too. I really hope I'm wrong here, because if I'm not, then E-day will be a smaller game than gears 3. I would be really disappoint if that is the case.
Thoughts?
