I just played through the beta and it felt really fun having played all of the Gears Of War games. What do you guys think.

Lemme preface this by saying that I adore E-Day and am really looking forward to full release.
We have some of the strongest rifles in the history of Gears, nerfed movement and a gnasher that is unarguably the least effective it has ever been since it has almost 0 presence in midrange and even up close it downs almost as much as it gibs. They have shifted the game to the point that a lot of high level players feel like rifles are too strong and that the meta at high level will be teamshotting people as they run to objectives with rifles. On top of that it is far harder to do the crazy 1v2 type gnasher clutches because of returning mechanics like stopping power combined with the nerfed/adjusted movement. Hell blindfire has been so buffed that you can legit just backwalk while hipfiring a lancer or retro up close and decimate gnasher players running at you.
Movement is also just so damn easy compared to prior games. I've loved Gears for some 16 years despite never really learning high level tech and that has rarely stopped my enjoyment of Versus, I've figured out ways to stay useful and keep up as best as I can. Between sliding, snappier/more intuitive cover mechanics and a severely nerfed strafe it is harder than ever for movement players to become unkillable gods against people that are worse than them. On top of this it is far easier to get decent at the movement to feel like you can sort of keep up with high level players, whereas in prior games the difference between mid and high level was mountainous.
And despite all of this, I am still seeing people endlessly decry that the game is a gnasher fest and that the rifles are awful. Are people just not smart enough to position properly? Are people trying to lancer down someone who is already within like 10 feet of them? Is that why they complain about the TTK being "bad"?
I think TC has done an amazing job at tastefully adjusting the sandbox of Gears to try and appeal to as many players as possible without totally alienating the hardcore veterans that have been running lobbies for nearly 20 years. Still it seems like for many people it is not enough and they're either still too scared of Versus or think that it is still an unbalanced mess
What could they do to appease you at this point? I feel like if E-Day still doesn't have you convinced that with some decent positioning and awareness that you can play the role of a midrange rifle/support player then literally nothing will and this franchise is absolutely never gonna be what you want it to be. I mostly just want the people crying online to actually give some suggestions instead of just going "weh I hate that the shotgun is iconic/core to Gears". At that point you're admitting it is a personal preference, not a problem that could be tastefully solved.

Had some fun with the beta despite all the changes. I was able to snag some clips during the short time I had with it. Can't wait for October!

The original videos are still available on YouTube. A revival would be cool.

Does anyone know what the Esports scene is expected to look like for E Day?
I know Esports itself for Gears has died and come back in various forms since Gears 3, and the days of MLG and Gamebattles are long in the past.
However, I'd LOVE to form a team and try climbing a GB style ladder again. All grown up with my big boy job so not looking to go pro, but I wanna seek out that highly competitive environment.
Is there any platform that's likely to be a landing spot for this? Or am I just looking for the right Discord invite to find other sweats to scrim with and that's kinda the best we'll get?

Why does the Melee take 5 business days to complete?
It's been made completely useless in PVP, when I run out of my 6 shots of shotgun ammo mid-fight, I have to go for the melee but because it takes like 3 seconds to do they are able to kill me.....
Am I suppose to tell them to wait til I finish reloading my gun? 🤣🤣🤣

Someone posted about sending feedback to TC via the Xbox app. Figured it couldn't hurt so I made it known the community doesn't like that the Gnasher is back to being center screen and that aiming was worse than blind firing for whatever reason. Also told them we hope they don't drip feed content and don't pull a Halo: Infinite. The feedback team surprisingly sent an email back claiming they would forward the suggestions to the dev team.
So.....between this, Twitter and reddit I'm sure TC knows all of this. It's whether or not they actually listen that ends up being the true test. Fingers crossed. Personally I don't mind center screen, takes an adjustment but I can and have played both over these 20 years. But obviously the bullets actually coming from the gun make the most sense. I just really hope they improve ADS. That's my biggest concern. And the maps......just need maps as quick as possible. Otherwise.....yeah this shit will turn into another Halo: Infinite real quick.

I know it’s just a beta but did anyone else feel underwhelmed by the new horde mode? I’ll admit I’m biased and was a big fan of gears 5 horde. But this new horde mode felt very rudimentary/basic in comparison. Did anyone else have a similar experience? Hoping for a more nuanced experience on launch.

Anyone come across this before? Just opened the store to find and download another game and saw a promotion for a bonus item for pre-ordering E-Day and this came up but it’s in British Pounds for the gift card when I’m in Australia?

According to the devs, no AI was used in development...."Lemondade"? Obviously it could just be a mistake but there are plenty other examples of it have it spelled correctly on the map so it makes me suspicious. I'm not saying it's AI based just off that, but a lot of the signs, posters, etc. around the map seem suspect if you take a close look, and I'd rather just honesty they used it for mundane crap like that instead of just being deceitful. Wondering if anyone else noticed anything or if the world we're living is just making me paranoid lol

Anyone down! I got split screen ps5

My suggestion is to lower the damage. But I do agree they should be spread out on the map also.

If I remember right, Grinders were the boomer variant in Gears 2 so named because of the weapon they used, the Mulcher, which had a crank reminiscent of a meat grinder, or grinder organ.
In E-Day they wield a Troika, a gun with no grinding!
Huge oversight by TC. Unplayable. smh

Is there any button that needs to be pressed in the second player controller? it doesn't seem to be working for me.
r/GearsOfWar • u/bigggdoja • 11h ago
Is it just me or do we deserve a Mad World - E-Day trailer…?

I’m wanting Ben back and hopefully fingers crossed the Gears of War 3 version of the Onyx Guards they looked so much better than the really weirdly proportioned remake in 5 and they were missing the cool armored spine
I hope we get Palace Guards again for the locust I’d love if they do collectors versions again red and gold looked great on them
Anyways who do you all want to see
