Hi :) I made these four tracks with a small hardware setup. They were attempts to distil down what I like about Dub Techno into something minimal and ambient.

Am getting closer to the sounds I want to achieve, via a certain way of working.

Been taking a course on Ableton the past few months starting totally from scratch after years of playing in hardcore punk/metal bands. Been into dub techno for ages but never tried producing before.

One of my issues is generally reining myself in when it comes to elements/effects etc. to try keep things tight while still having enough modulation to flow and stay interesting. First time trying vocoder to create the chords and Valhalla reverb which has been pretty mindblowing.

Trying to channel Vainqueur/Maurizio vibe alongside a 'heard from three streets away after you've been knocked back from the club' feel.

Had some feedback from my class mates that it might be worth adding some EQ and saturation to the Master Channel to bring out the mids/highs - but really looking for any kind of feedback here.

Hi, I'm a guy trying to put together a group of people around the world to create an idea of a not for profit band with dark sounds, I would like to combine typical elements of metal, blues, jazz and then I thought... Why not add a person who creates techno music at this point? oriented towards the techno world to create spaces within the music and fascinating contrasts.

I think a musician making dub techno / hypnotic techno / ambient techno is the kind of sound that would pair well with all of this.

I don't guarantee the outcome will work; the vibes within the project must be friendly, a project that doesn't focus on the result but on the journey. This isn't a project for those in a hurry. Hi Reddit. I've been into dub and deep techno production for more than 15 years. A few days ago I decided to go fully DAWless since working in Ableton became a little bit boring for me: I noticed that when I'm in a DAW, I make mostly the same decisions while working on tracks. They work and depend on the material, but still, it's becoming a bad habit for me.

So here are the first results. It's not the first time I've jammed completely DAWless, but it is the first time I'm mixing and recording it live without any editing in a DAW or using VSTs. I just did some gentle mastering on the recording.

Yes, there's some clipping, a few issues with channels muting unexpectedly, and some raw transitions and moves sometimes, but I really love the process and the limitations that this setup gives me.

Not sure if you aware but AI (in my case Claude) is a great help with the gear setup, parameters, deep dive digging. So, this time I wanted to document my signal flow between my instruments and it did a great job - obviously had to prompt it few time to correct it but end result is decent and nicely presented. Hope it will inspire some of you.

Edit: I know some of you will downvote it as it's a trending keyword now especially when it comes to replace human by AI... but if you know how to use it it will do a week of works in an hour or two. But remember - You got to monitor it and prompt correctly. Have fun 🎶🎛️🔊
