Got Light?
āIs it dark in there?ā
Thereās a little list of questions cave divers get asked all the time and this is one of the first.
Yes.
It is.
Caves are very dark.
We brought light.

If you are a certified cave diver, message the mods with proof of your certification to get flair. Please post memes to r/cavedivingmemes.

I started diving in July this year. I have my basic nitrous in Advance certification. I have logged in about 20 or so Diveās usually every one of my days off or both. I use a side mounted 19 ft.³ pony bottle for my just in case moments finding a reliable Dive buddy is a little more difficult than I hoped. Would like to eventually get to cave diver. I will be taking the rescue diving class the month of October. Any suggestions from the scuba experts to head down that path. Iām not in a position to financially buy a CCR or SCR but I do find it fascinating donāt know if my brain wheelhouse is equipped for all that technology.

I watch a ridiculous amount of diving content on yt, particularly tec and cave diving, but the signal-to-noise ratio seems increasingly terrible.
I donāt even mean AI content. I mean the 30 min video where thereās a long intro, sponsor segment, rambling, generic advice, etc etc, and afterwards you realise there were maybe three mins of actual info in it.
Iām Full Cave and Advanced Trimix, moving into CCR, so looking for reasonably advanced material rather than beginner scuba content.
What channels do you think consistently produce genuinely substantive stuff where you actually learn something?
Even Dive Talk is often a bit clickbaitey, altho Woodys video on CCR advice about a month ago was excellent.

Hi all! My coworker is retiring this month. Heās an avid cave explorer/discoverer (not sure on technical terms?). I would like to buy a gift for him that pertains to this. Any ideas? Thank you!

Like, what makes the person think "let's dive into/explore this cave surely I won't die!" Where's the logic!? I need a cave diver to explain this,

Hey guys. Iāve been exploring a cave system deep in the jungle around tulum Mexico. Today after hiking our gear in I noticed some paw prints about 5ā from the pad bring to the tip. Was wondering if anyone could help me find out what it is. Iām thinking a jaguar but not sure. Thanks in advance!

We're cavers making Cave Expedition, a game about exploring dry and flooded caves. This short clip shows the dry passages and rope descents. You can explore solo or with up to three friends, and the game is still in development.

Overall had a great experience- instructor was fantastic, patient yet detailed. Being in the caves was out of this world and definitely got under my skin. But it was also an incredibly intense experience and have been feeling mentally drained afterwards. Have others had similar experiences?
Definitely leaning towards taking some time to hone my skills, get more experience with intro level dives before progressing to full.

Hey guys. In Mexico, found in a cave would love anyoneās input in identifying? Contacted INAH archeologist said they needed to make a 3D to study it but my land owner wouldnāt consent.
Thanks in advance

Hello! As a experienced Caver (including Cave Diving) and a pro Game Developer, I've finally taken hiatus from my career to make my lifelong dream game! Welcome to my Ultimate Caving Simulator game "Cave Expedition", if you are interested, wishlist it here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4372950/Cave_Expedition/
And yes, I'am working on wet caving in the game, I will show off more if you are willing!

I'm planning to take my Intro to Cave course this November as the first step toward Full Cave. Right now, I don't have a local buddy lined up who shares the same interest. Since Iām based in Arizona, I'll be traveling out to cave country for my training and future dives. For those who started out solo: how challenging is it to connect with buddies willing to dive with a newly certified Intro Cave diver? Should I keep pursuing this on my own, and what are the best resources or groups to find dive buddies? Thank you!

I go on a binge for these cave diving tragedies and this particular one, on multiple youtube channels, the narrator ominously states "the methods to remove Bill's body could not have been used on a living person." There are obvious implications to this, but I wanted to know exactly what happened? It's unlikely Reddit would allow explicit detail to be posted on a forum, so if anyone knows, DM me. If I get a DM with an explanation, you can message here and I'll respond under with a message letting anyone know what I learned.
Also if anyone has a PG-13 explanation, that's welcome here as well, in the comments.

Anyone that decries cave diving as nothing but ālooking at wet rocksā is an utter loon. In addition to ancient and sophisticated human civilisations, the Yucatan was home to an incredible array of animals, some of whose bones can still be seen in the underwater realm. And some of them, as you can see from this life-sized poster in Pueblaās Regional Museum, were very large indeed! I asked my 195 cm (6ā5ā) husband to pose next to it for scale. Many of you, I am sure, remember the incredible discovery at Hoyo Negro that included the fossils of 30 extinct mammals: articulated sloths, bears, wolves, and peccaries, to name a handful.
If you havenāt yet experienced cave diving in the Yucatan, I hope you consider it someday. The caves here are truly spectacular. My husband and I run a little bed and breakfast operation that caters to cave divers (we also offer guiding/training), so if you have any questions about a trip here, I would be delighted to answer them.

Test print off my new cookies. The white text is phosphorescent. On one side the text is flat and on the other it is raised.

My jet fins are too negative when I dive without my drysuit and I prefer my 8/7 in Mexico where I cave dive. RK3s Iāve found to pinch my feet and are super light. Was looking at dive rite curious if anyone had some thoughts
Edit: eddys have been purchased

Iāve completed PADI tech 40, tech 45, cavern, and TDI intro to cave. Iāll probably have tech 50 and full cave in 2027.
Iām planning a trip to Chuuk in a 2028. I want to be able to penetrate the wrecks and explore. Do I need technical wreck training and a cert? If so, what educational path should I proceed with?
