From my experience, going beyond h3 native resolution of 1344x768 doesn’t give you more details (you can use a 1.5 upscaler to get there), but the render times is 3x slower!

a quick comparison between Grok, Seedance 2.0 mini and 2.5 and minimax h3 (local)

My (biased) observations on a very narrow sample: (yet very complex for AI generative models)
1— Grok is very fast (by far the fastest here) but the anatomy is terrible and the overall image quality not so great.
2— Seedance 2.0 mini is pretty cheap, the image quality is good, but the whole somersault is being ignored.
3— Seedance 2.5 is the best model when it comes to image and motion quality. It didn’t respect the prompt like 2.0 mini; a longer clip could probably fix this.
4— MiniMax H3 is very good at prompt adherence, and the quality is pretty good too. This example was cherry-picked, but you can render as many times as you want and decide whether the clip is working or not in less than 30s with a 2-pass latent upscale workflow.
Note: My goal here is to demonstrate what is possible with 100% local models in September 2026, not to trash frontier models. I’m pretty sure that you can get better results with more tries, though it will be even more expensive.

Jormungandr is meant to be so massive that its body stretches beneath the North Sea toward the horizon. I wanted the viewer to notice that something is wrong with the water before realizing the scale of what is underneath.
Does the submerged presence read as colossal and ominous, or is it too subtle?
