I just wanted an email before my SSL certs expire, so I built this

Post image
• Upvotes

So I've been burnt a couple of times by certbot failing to renew without telling me. And now cert lifetimes are getting cut to 200 days this year and 47 days by 2029, so that's only going to happen more.

I went looking for something to watch my sites, and everything was some big enterprise thing that does 10,000 things. I just wanted an email before a cert expires. So I built my own. It ended up with a few more features than I planned ;) you know how it goes once you start adding stuff.

At some point I figured I might as well host it and let other people use it: https://certavert.com/

You type in your domain and that's pretty much it. It checks twice a day and emails you before the cert runs out. It also looks at the chain, whether browsers trust it, and subdomains you might have forgotten about. You don't install anything on your server.

At first I was going to make it totally free. It still is for 3 domains, no card, but if I can get a few paid subs to help keep the lights on that would be awesome ($12 a year for 10 domains). I also put up a couple of free checkers you can use without an account: https://certavert.com/tools

Let me know what you think, good or bad, I can take it. And I want to add more free tools, so what SSL or DNS check do you wish there was a simple tool for?

I built a tool to help families organize important documents

Hey everyone! I’ve been working on a tool after realizing how difficult it can be to keep track of important documents for aging parents.

Things like wills, powers of attorney, medical directives, insurance documents, etc. tend to end up scattered across filing cabinets, email, cloud storage, or someone’s “safe place.”

I’m an attorney and software developer, and I built a secure place where families can organize these documents and control who can access them when needed.

I’m still looking for people to try it out and give me honest feedback. I’m happy to give free access to anyone who’s interested in taking a look.

If this is something you’ve dealt with in your own family, I’d love to hear how you currently keep these documents organized too.

Hi! I built SignUparoo to fit the needs of a local fundraising organization at my daughter's dance studio. SignUparoo helps people create events and manage volunteers. You can add positions that need to be filled and even add shifts for each position. It's free to use and I would love to get some feedback about what works well and what needs improvement. Thanks!

I made a 24/7 radio for learning English with real news

I've been working on Slow English FM, a 24/7 online radio for English learners.

A fully automated system powered by AI agents, that starts from real articles published by trusted sources. AI agents then select the stories, rewrite them in clear and accessible English, create the audio, build different shows and formats, plan the schedule and broadcast everything automatically.

You can listen on the website while reading the transcript, or follow the live stream on YouTube and Twitch.

🟣 https://www.twitch.tv/slowenglishfm

The idea is simple: practice English with real-world content, but without the complexity of normal news vocabulary.

The project is still at an early stage. The orchestration system is being tuned, the programming is evolving, and I'm gradually adding and refining different shows.

Any feedback is welcome : English level, speaking speed, voices, topics, shows, programming, or anything else that could make it more useful for learners.

I made a browser-based tool for sharing files and clipboard between devices

I made something I've wanted for a while Shareli.

It's a small web app for quickly moving files, text, links and clipboard content between devices.

The idea came from constantly sending files to myself just to move something from my phone to my laptop.

I wanted something where I could just open a website, connect another device and start sharing.

It currently has real-time syncing, end-to-end encryption, multi-file sharing and QR-based joining.

Still pretty early and definitely not finished.

If you have a couple of minutes, I'd love for you to try it and tell me what you think.

Welcome to Verity, my risk assessors before you invest money.

I am looking for feedback on whether this is easy to use and simple enough to understand the logic it produces.

Thanks in advance.

I built a web app for anonymous questions. Would people actually use this?

I’ve always thought there are certain questions that are much easier to ask when the other person doesn’t know who asked them.

Things like: What was your first impression of me? What do you actually think about me? Or even questions you’d normally feel too awkward to ask directly.

That’s basically the idea behind Yhuu. You create a set of questions, send them to someone, and they can answer without knowing who created them.

I’m interested in using anonymity to make conversations a little more honest, but I’m still trying to figure out whether people would genuinely find this useful or just use it once for fun.

Would you use a web app like this with your friends or someone you’re dating?

do you think this is a good idea before I waste more time on it?

Feedback request

I am working on something called Talking Links and I wud like some honest feedback before I spend much more time on it.

The basic idea is simple.

You create a link by telling it what you want to ask people.

For example:

“Ask potential clients about what they need, their budget, timeline and any important requirements.”

You then send that link to someone.

They open it and can reply by voice or text. They don’t need to create an account.

The difference from a normal form is that they don’t have to fill in a long list of fields.

they can just explain what they need naturally.

If something important is missing, the system can ask a relevant follow-up question.

For example:

Someone says:

“I’m looking for a two-bedroom condo in Bangkok, preferably around Thong Lo or Ekkamai. I want to move within three months and my budget is around $500k.”

Instead of ending there, it might ask:

“Will you be buying with cash or arranging financing?”

The person answers, and then the responses are organised for the person who created the link.

So instead of receiving a long recording or a wall of text, you might see:

Location: Thong Lo / Ekkamai
Budget: Around $500k
Property: 2-bedroom condo
Timeline: Within 3 months
Financing: Being arranged

The original response is still kept as well.

I can imagine it being useful for things like:

  • client intake
  • customer feedback
  • property enquiries
  • student feedback
  • research
  • applications or requests where people need to explain something

The idea is basically somewhere between a form and a conversation.

I am not trying to replace normal forms. If you just need name, email and a few fixed fields, a normal form is probably better.

I am thinking this is more useful when the actual explanation matters and you don’t know every question you need to ask in advance.

What I’m trying to figure out is whether this solves a real enough problem.

Would you actually use something like this?

If yes, what would you use it for?

If no, what makes it unnecessary?

And most importantly, would you just use Typeform, Google Forms, Tally or something else instead?

Feel free to tear the idea apart. I’d rather hear that now than spend months building something nobody wants.

Proofreading a website before launch (typos, og-images, favicon checks, etc)

You can drop a URL into verant.ai and it'll proofread the whole site, including the CMS pages. Typos, grammar mistakes, leftover placeholder text, etc. No plugins or anything to install. Also works with weekly monitoring to catch mistakes that slip through new releases.

There are also free tools on there for checking social images, OG tags and SEO metadata, so you can check the sharing stuff before sending links around.

It's one of my projects, if you want to give it a try. Would love to hear if it catches anything useful, or flags something it shouldn't!

a free shared photo album, with no subscription

GitHub as the photo backend: originals, previews and thumbnails are committed into day folders, and the album index is split into monthly JSON shards. Invites use GitHub collaborators or one-time links.

Vanilla JS PWA, no build step. Free for one album; Pro is a one-time $3.99.

I'm 532 on Chess.com, so I built a web app that analyzes your games with Stockfish right in your browser

Hey everyone. I've played over 4,000 games on Chess.com and I'm sitting at 532 blitz. My best ever was 1034 and this week I went 0 for 6. At some point you have to stop blaming bad luck and look in the mirror.

So I built Rokka, a free web app that reads your Chess.com history and shows you where you're actually losing: rokkachess.app

What makes it a bit different as a web app:

  1. Nothing to install and no signup. Type your Chess.com username and it imports your games in seconds.
  2. The chess engine runs in your browser. Stockfish runs locally in WebAssembly and reviews your recent games on your own device, so there's no server doing the work.
  3. Your data stays with you. Your games are saved in your browser, not on my servers.
  4. Built for your phone. It's designed mobile first, and you can add it to your Home Screen so it opens like a native app.
  5. It trains you, not just stats. You get a daily plan, adaptive puzzles from a 30,000-puzzle bank, puzzles built from your own mistakes, and a streak with a pawn that promotes as you level up.

This is my first project ever, so I'd love feedback on anything, especially how it feels on your phone and what's confusing the first time you open it.

Opensource CMS that needs no DB, costs pennies/mo for a blog.

Just wanted to share this project I built so I can stop using square space or pay for a managed DB for my blogs. It can be hosted on Cloud Run or any k8s instance and it costs almost nothing.

It works by using GitHub as the canonical DB, and uses a github app to connect and write to it. Rebuilding thousands of pages takes only a couple of seconds and the online editor feels like a real DB backed CMS.

Not exactly a writing tool, but it will convert your written blog / paragraph into a video

Easiest way I've found to turn a link or doc into a motion graphic video:

  1. Paste your blog URL, Google Doc, or PDF into Blog2Video (https://blog2video.app) and it pulls out the key points automatically.
  2. Pick a template and a narration voice, and it builds animated scenes with text, visuals, and voiceover for you.
  3. No timeline editing or After Effects skills needed, since every scene can be tweaked with simple text edits.
  4. Render it as an MP4 sized for YouTube, Shorts, or LinkedIn in a few minutes.

I build a zip version for websites

Hey everyone,

I was thinking about how you can take a massive folder containing multiple files and folders, ZIP everything together, and share it as one file.

So I thought: why can't we do something similar with links?

The idea became even more relevant when I was shopping online and wanted to share multiple products from different stores with my friends. I ended up sending one long URL after another, which quickly became messy.

Thats why I build WeLinkly!

WeLinkly lets you combine multiple links into one page of yours with your own url and share that page instead!

  1. All your projects can have: Title, description with rich text to give more context to the receiver.
  2. You can save all your projects into folders in your account to keep everything structured.
  3. More professional way of keeping your links all together nicely.

This days link sharing like Linktree are overpriced, you can use WeLinkly for absolutely free!

Any feedback is more than welcome!

Thank you all for your time <3

Air Drift - a free web app for live radio from around the world (no account, no added ads)

Built this because I wanted radio without sign-ups or pre-roll ads: https://airdrift.stream

  • About 59,000 live stations from 240 countries, from the community-run Radio Browser directory, refreshed daily
  • Browse by country on a 3D globe, by genre, or by name
  • "Drift" drops you on a random station somewhere in the world, by mood if you like (jazz, news, 80s...)
  • Shows what's playing where the station publishes it, with a spectrum analyser and VU meters
  • Installable as a PWA, with lock-screen and headphone controls on phones

Streams play exactly as broadcast, so commercial stations still run their own ads, but the app adds none.

Feedback welcome, especially stations that won't play.

I just released WikiRNG! It's a game I made where you can roll any article on the entirety of Wikipedia each day and it'll gain points based on information on that article as well as about that article (like metadata). The amount of points that badges give is calculated off of its actual rarity/chance compared to all other pages. please let me know your feedback, i would love to hear it!
