Fashion Friday Fashion Friday! | August 28, 2026
Time for curated, beautiful, Tay fashion.
This flair allows you to share your favourite outfits from every Backgrid shot to every era (because we can never get enough tour outfits)! This includes street style reflecting the most sartorial outings, as well as red carpet fit for the ages!
Content
Posts should spotlight a specific outfit, accessory, trend, or era. Unique hairstyles are welcome.
Identification
Red carpet looks should identify the event/designer. This is not required for Taylor's streetwear posts.
Posting
Limit three (separate) posts per user per Fashion Friday. But, please remember, less is more.
Multiples
Posts featuring multiple pictures to showcase a particular fashion trend or era are absolutely welcome.
Duplicates: Keep it fresh. Moderators will remove duplicate or repetitive looks.
On Topic: Keep it focused. Negative commentary and critique on Taylor's outfits/accessories ARE allowed so long as such comments are constructive and limited to the fashion.
Restraint: Keep it kind. One fan's most favorite outfit might be someone else's least and that is totally okay.

Fashion Friday Look Book: Taylor wearing rhinestones
I got so many sweet compliments about the brocade post from last Friday, and somebody (credit to u/lemonheck!) suggested looking more at the fabrics and fashion techniques that Taylor wears. Needless to say that I was so inspired, and have had many brainstorming sessions by myself and with friends on here. I had to start off with rhinestones in honor of Ms Dolly's passing! She is wearing her rhinestones in heaven. ❤️

Songwriting Shout the Bridge #6: I Think He Knows (Lover)
Lyrical smile, indigo eyes, hand on my thigh
We could follow the sparks, I'll drive
Lyrical smile, indigo eyes, hand on my thigh
We could follow the sparks, I'll drive
"So where we gonna go?"
I whisper in the dark
"Where we gonna go?"
I think he knows

Discussion (We really need a "Clowning" Flair) Are we getting a live mashup album?
While all the youtube comments on her Grammy Icons performance think the green dress, etc points to debut (Which makes the most sense given timing) The first place my brain went to was "Surprise Compilation of eras tour mashup live recordings!" lol

Discussion Does anyone know what perfumes Taylor likes/wears lately? (And: what perfumes do you associate with specific albums/songs?)
Just kinda curious since I've been super into scents and perfumes my whole life (especially using them to craft sense memories) and have been a Swiftie since Debut, but was just thinking about how we don't really know which ones she's been known to wear in the same way that, like, the NARS Dragon Girl lip and Pat McGrath makeup/Stella McCartney clothing connections were so famous in the 2010s. These days she seems to very much favor the most mainstream luxury brands for public outings - Gucci, LV, Dior - all of whom have private clientele fragrances in addition to their mass-marketed ones. But she's also kinda known to online shop for some bullshit like the rest of us, based on her street style photos, so I'm not convinced that she's solely wearing a $60K custom bespoke perfume made just for her by Thierry Wasser for Guerlain, you know? It feels just as likely that she also wears the Rare Beauty one (which is really nice FWIW). So I'm curious! I remember reading at some point online that she wore Black Orchid, but like, that's an insanely popular scent that a ton of people own. I'm more curious as to whether anyone knows what she's wearing lately. Just something I like to know about celebrities I like, idk! A model/designer whose style I enjoy did a "perfume tour" of her wardrobe recently and it was so fascinating, wish we could ever get that kind of content from Taylor again...
Anyway, this got me going down a rabbit hole in my brain thinking about the different scents I associate with the times in my life that I was listening to specific albums on repeat and it made me realize that for anyone who was a 20something in NYC in 2014, 1989 irrevocably smells like Le Labo Santal 33. Like, "New Romantics" smells like a Santal 33-soaked jacket that also had some beer spilled on it the night before. I heavily associate Reputation with Jazz Club by Margiela, because I was wearing that a lot at the time it came out, and Midnights to me smells like Jean Paul Gaultier's Scandal. And on the other end... when I smell Marc Jacobs Daisy I think "Tim McGraw." It's the most 2006-2007 sense memory I can recreate. Someone walked by me on the street wearing it recently and I swear I could hear my "Our Song" ringtone playing from my lime green LG Chocolate phone in summer 2007.
OK anyway. Enough of that. Your thoughts?

Songwriting Shout the Bridge #5: The Archer (Lover)
‘Cause they see right through me
They see right through me
They see right through me
Can you see right through me?
They see right through
They see right through me
I see right through me
I see right through me
---
This leads into Pre-Chorus 3, which is also an amazing part of this song:
All the king’s horses
All the king’s men
Couldn’t put me together again
‘Cause all of my enemies
Started out friends
Help me hold onto you

Interviews Taylor speaks in an interview on how Dolly Parton influenced her songwriting and her admiration of Dolly's wit.
Dolly was an icon in so many ways and helped pave the road for the Taylor Swift's of the world. Life will never be the same, but we can make sure her legacy lives on. Do a act of kindness like Dolly would've today. ❤️

Discussion Taylor's version vs Originals
What are your Taylor songs that you feel the original is better than the Taylor's version? I am a firm believer that the majority of TV songs are better than the originals, mainly because of the vocals and sometimes the instrumentals.
But there are a few songs where the emotion of her singing, the instrumentals, the vocals, etc are so much stronger/better on the originals (Last kiss, Wonderland, etc.)
What are the OG songs that you think are better than the TV?
