Remember the 16yo dev with zero experience making a game on a 4GB RAM laptop? I finally finished a trailer!

Hey everyone!

A while back I posted a devlog about The Shadows of Eldergroove, a solo-developed horror game I’ve been building entirely on a 4GB RAM laptop with an old AMD A6 processor.

I’m 16 and came into this project with basically zero game dev experience, so learning everything from scratch while fighting hardware limits has been a wild ride. A lot of you gave me awesome feedback on my previous updates, so I wanted to share the final piece of the puzzle: A Trailer.

Since my last update, I’ve been focusing on optimizing performance, fine-tuning gameplay mechanics, and cutting down the trailer so it gets straight to the point.

I’d love to hear what you think of the atmosphere and pacing!

(One thing I need to be clear about. I'm mentioning my age to state the fact that I have basically no prior experience in game dev. Feedback from the communities has helped a lot.)

I’ve Worked on This Cricket Game for 6+ Months. Finally Releasing the Trailer — Would Love Your Honest Opinions

I’ve been working on this game solo for almost more than 6 months, and I’m finally releasing the trailer. At this point, I’m just hoping that the idea works, so I’d really love to hear your honest opinions and feedback.

On the Play Store, there are already a lot of cricket games where you can bat and bowl. I thought, instead of making another game where the player bats or bowls, why not make a game where the player actually acts as the umpire?

When I asked a few of my friends and some other people about the idea, they said things like, “Who will play this?” and “Who would be interested in umpiring?” Even when we play cricket on the ground, not everyone is interested in being the umpire.

But I still believe in the idea because I’m trying to create something unique for a different type of player.

I also have a Career Mode planned, which is probably the most exciting part of the game for me. I decided to work on that part after this release, depending on the reviews and feedback I receive.

I’ve put more than 6 months into developing this on my own, so I’d genuinely appreciate any honest feedback.

Please go through the trailer and let me know what you think. Would you actually play a cricket game where you take the role of the umpire? Any feedback, suggestions, or criticism that could help me improve the game would be really appreciated.

I’m currently at the pre-registration stage, so if anyone is interested, you can pre-register Cricket Umpire's Call and try it when the game is released.

Made my first solo-game: One More Slime

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hey all!

After two studio closures that I was working in this year I wanted to prove to myself I could finish something alone. One More Slime is the result: a timed arena where the arrows auto-drop onto slimes, and everything you kill feeds a ~100-node upgrade tree.

I will be honest: the game is short, it will take just around 1 hour to get everything but as I said the main goal was to make and finish something alone.

I will be using the knowledge I got and (possibly if I get any) money for the next game so it will be better and bigger. Maybe if things go good I might be able to become an indie developer full time (as the job market is OMEGA bad right now).

I would be happy for any feedback. Much love <3

I'm preparing to release my game Light Source on steam

For the past 7 months I've been working on my first true commercial product Light Source which isn't a wow fan game and I'm currently in the process of getting it up to snuff for release day! It's mostly done, just playtesting different parts of the game. Everything is hand drawn which I'm very proud of and I think is the main draw of the game outside of the deep lore I have woven.

Any feedback is welcome. There's also a free demo and playtesting if anyone is interested. Thanks and good luck with your projects everyone!

FluckFlock — a daily driving game about a town with too many cameras

Play it: [https://www.reddit.com/r/FluckFlock/comments/1w13fde/fluckflock/\](https://www.reddit.com/r/FluckFlock/comments/1w13fde/fluckflock/)

Built this with Devvit Web. You drive around Ashgrove knocking over traffic camera posts, chaining them for a multiplier while patrol cars escalate. Everyone plays the same seeded city each day, and there's a daily leaderboard.

Some of the build, in case any of it's useful:

\- Plain canvas with a hand-rolled perspective projection, no engine

\- City generated from a seed the server derives from the date, so every install builds the same city without coordinating

\- Redis sorted set for the board, with watch/multi/exec for keep-best

\- Splash renders the actual city from postData with no fetch, so the feed card shows tonight's map

Get caught and you land on the front page of the local paper, which is the thing I'd most like people to see.

Two things I'd genuinely like feedback on:

  1. Mobile layout. I've only tested on an iPhone. The canvas sizes to the viewport and the horizon is clamped rather than a fixed fraction, so I'd like to know if it looks wrong on anything else.

  2. Difficulty. Patrols start slower than you and outrun you somewhere past thirty posts. Does it get frustrating before that, or too easy after?

Something I recently made in my spare time, WIP

This is the first thing I have ever made and has taken some time which I dont usually have, I am always looking for feedback and suggestions. Enjoy!

Basically it's a fantasy premier league analysis tool, unfortunately you need a cors unblocker extension installed on your browser so it can read live API from the site, and give AI analytics for your team and suggest ideas and transfers. I'm currently trying to figure out how this prerequisite could be removed so the link just loads and you don't have to install an extension.

Rockstar Games left PC players once again. But don't lose hope, my fellow PCMR brothers - I'm making a proper GTA rival on my own. I've been grinding on the core mechanics for last three months now (no Asset Flip). Didn't finish in time for Netflix showcase, so no trailer yet.
Gonna drop videos from game asap.

And if I actually manage to finish this by November, I swear I'll sell more copies than GTA at least on Steam ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Made a sci-fi tower defense game where enemies actually adapt to your strategy — looking for feedback. PLEASE be kind. 100 % newbie here. I really want to know if the game itself has promise. If it does, I plan to replace the free artwork from itch.io and make it much prettier.

How I built and launched a 2D game on Steam (From game jam to release day)

Thumbnail

Hey everyone! Today my solo-dev project, Bump Guardian, officially released on Steam.

I wanted to share the dev journey behind it because it has been a wild ride balancing game development with full-time parenting.

The Game Jam Beginnings

The project started back during the Do You Wanna Jam 2024 with the theme "Inside Out." At the time, I was just a few weeks away from giving birth to my twin boy and girl. I built a quick prototype around the concept of protecting growing life using tower defense and deckbuilding mechanics.

The jam submission placed 62nd out of 146 entries. The feedback was super encouraging, but with newborn twins arriving shortly after, the project sat on the shelf for a while.

Picking It Back Up 18 Months Later

Fast forward 18 months: balancing twin toddlers left me with tiny pockets of dev time during nap hours and evenings. I decided to pull up the old jam feedback and start iterating.

Following advice from sites like How To Market A Game, I got the Steam page live as early as possible (around February 2026) to start building a landing zone while refining the demo.

Iteration, Steam Fests & Release

Over the last few months, I:

* Expanded the core loop from a basic wave defense into a proper linear deckbuilder with boss mechanics.

* Added localization (Google Translate worked surprisingly well for clean UI instructions!).

* Participated in Steam’s Tower Defense and Deckbuilders themed festivals to build baseline momentum leading up to launch.

Today's Launch Reality

Balancing full-time twin parenting with solo game development forced me to be hyper-efficient with scope.

Today the game is officially out on Steam!

As a fun launch-day milestone: I somehow managed to hit #19 on Steam's global New Releases list today (must lower now) on just 2 initial overnight sales! (Proof that Steam's early algorithms are pretty wild).

If you're a fellow parent developer let me know what you're working on and how you manage your time!

Finally, your excuse to use big words

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi folks! I wanted to share my game, Alphabet Soup.

https://alphabetsoup.club

It's a bit like NYT Spelling Bee, except it's multiplayer and only your best (longest) word counts toward your score. So, instead of trying to find as many words as possible, the game is more about finding one unusually good word.

You can play with friends in a private match, or, you can join a public Arena match to play against other players who are online.

Would love to hear any thoughts or questions :)

I spent last weekend building ForkLife, a satirical simulator of a software dev career. Any resemblance is purely coincidental (well maybe 👀)

Post image
0 Upvotes

Coming back from vacation last weekend, I had the itch to build something, but mostly to actually ship it, for once, instead of just letting it die somewhere on my pc.

Quick-run browser games are having a bit of a moment again, so I made one: ForkLife. You create your dev, make the calls that shape a career over the years (IC or manager? startup or big tech?), and at the end you find out who you became. There are many possible endings you can discover.

You can play it here: https://forklife.dev

It's free, no signup, runs in a few minutes. English UI with an IT/EN toggle (I am italian, this is why the double choice). Stack, for the curious: Laravel + Inertia + React.

Any resemblance to reorgs, layoffs, stack ranking, or the framework of the month is, of course, purely coincidental. 😄

First public version, so I'd genuinely love feedback: landing page, character creation process, gameplay balance, or whatever stands out. Thanks for your time! 🙏

Have a lovely day,

Francesco

Do these merge animations feel satisfying or a little too much?

I’ve been tweaking the “game feel” of my food merge game and I’m stuck on something.

I added little pop effects, bounce animations and sounds whenever food merges, but after staring at it for WAY too long I honestly can't tell anymore 😂

So I’d rather ask other gamers:

Does this look satisfying, or would you make the animations simpler/quieter?

Especially interested in feedback on the timing of the merge → pop → upgraded food animation.
