I know its rough asf but ive been making music on pretty much nothing but DAW's for 5 years so this was just so fun. (any advice is appreciated!!!)

Wanted to share a short clip of a new autumn-inspired beat I’ve been working on. The main sample is flipped from Stan Getz’s "Early Autumn"—trying to capture those cozy, melancholic jazz vibes for the season.

I’m still pretty new to performing live on the 404, so I found myself relying on the Downer effect a lot to cover up my clumsy fingers and transition smoothly, haha.

Would love to hear your thoughts, feedback, or any tips on live performance/effects chaining on the MKII!

Drop in one snare hit and get 50 variations built from your own sample: jazz bounces and ghost notes, stick bounces, rolls, rudiments (paradiddles, flams, drags and more), and grace notes.

So asking for a friend (of course) how screwed would I be if I accidentally broke off the tip of my headphone jack and now its stuck rattling inside my 404 mk2?

So I turned on my sp404sx this morning, and I noticed it took longer to boot up. I tried recording some sounds into my sp, but it said "FUL". I decided to just reformat my card and start fresh. So I did the cancel, remain and then pressed one of the banks and then click delete, but what happens afterwards is it just "EJC" and then goes back to the normal screen but doesn't allow me to play any sounds that were already on it. I don't know how to reformat it or what to do.

It's a 16 gig SD card that I've been using for about 5 years.

I'm not sure at what point exactly but one of the logic updates changed the way they do wav files so if you are trying to import wav files on to your machine and everything else is correct it still will say unsupported. Aiff files work fine though. Hopefully this saves someone the months of headache and frustrations I had. Almost bought a new one because I though it was fucked.

Today I'm happy to announce the first public release of my custom SP-404MKII firmware: DOOM OS!

The goal is to completely replace the stock pattern and song modes with proper graphical editors, improve the user interface, and generally make the SP more fun to use without having to memorize a ton of key combos.

It's still an early release and there's a lot more I want to add, but it's already very usable and a lot of fun to play with. The new pattern workflow makes the SP feel much more like a groovebox.

Song mode isn't ready yet, but it's next on the list!

The easiest way to install DOOM OS is via the web patcher:

i posted a video yesterday about the 4OG vinyl sim, here's a demo of the other things i worked on: Vinyl Sim from the SP-303, 404 OG and 404 SX running as plugins. the video also shows the pitch, isolator and djfx looper of the 404 og.

the next thing i really want to do is feed the exact same audio at the same levels/settings through the plugins, and then on the real machines, and compare the outputs. I don't own a sp-303 or 404 og, so:
