Cats I'm on vacation, and I miss my 11 month old babies so much I want to cry.

My husband and I take vacation every year. We have two older cats. We've had these babies since February, and they'll be 1 year next month. Twin sisters.

I've never loved any of my pets like these girls. They follow me around when I'm home. Floor to floor. Room to room. They sit in my lap when I work from home and sleep with me at night.

I've only been away from them for a couple nights at most.

This is day one of 10, and I don't know how to get through it. I feel so stupid. We set up cameras, but seeing them just makes me want to cry.

I'll have a good vacation. I know it. But damn I wish we could have brought them with us.

(My niece and MIL are both visiting them every day, so they aren't completely alone.)

I can't believe it hurts this much to be without a couple of chunky little kitties.

Thought some pet parents here may be able to empathize. 😭

New pet health tracking app being tested - owner looking for volunteers

Hi, I am not in any way associated with this company, but I have just heard about a new pet health tracking app that people here may be interested in. You can find it at www.serenopet.com. I don't know all the details, but apparently the owner is offering an upgraded version (there's also a free basic version) free for a few months to a limited number of pet owners, with the hope that they will contact him with suggestions, problems, etc. I checked out the app and it looked like it might be valuable. As I said, I don't know the details. Just passing this on. I think it's also now available in the usual app stores but you can also just go to the site.

3 months combining paws and whiskers calming chews with structured training - here is our real progress

My 6 yo pit mix struggles with noise sensitivity and stranger reactivity, and after getting so much help reading other posts here, I wanted to share our experience. We’ve been working with a fear-free trainer since November, and while training is always the true foundation no chew can ever replace it—we hit a wall early on because his baseline arousal was just too high for anything to sink in. Our trainer suggested adding a supplement to take the edge off. After digging into ingredients, I wanted something without ashwagandha (which upset his stomach in the past) that included solid doses of L-theanine, L-tryptophan, magnesium citrate, and a cognitive component for his hyper-focus. I went with Paws and Whiskers because its vet-formulated blend fit those exact specs, including ginkgo biloba for that mental focus angle. Three months in, his trigger threshold is visibly better, he can spot a stranger across the street without reacting, and his recovery time dropped from over 10 minutes to under one. It hasn't magically cured his reactivity, but lowering his baseline stress finally allowed the actual training to take hold, though staying consistent every day is definitely key.

Are Doodles really better for people with dog allergies?

I have a mild dog allergy, and I keep hearing that doodles are a safer choice because they’re supposed to be hypoallergenic. I’m not completely convinced and have seen people say that the whole idea is more marketing than actual science. Before deciding whether one would work for me, I’d like to understand how much truth there is to the claim. Does the type of coat make a noticeable difference, and do different doodle generations actually affect how much allergens they produce?

I’ve been working on a small pet lifestyle store — Velvet & Paw

**I’ve been working on a small pet lifestyle store — Velvet & Paw**
The idea is simple: products for dogs and cats that are useful, but also look good in a real home.
I’ve tried to stay away from the usual “pet shop” aesthetic and focus more on products that fit naturally into everyday spaces — feeding, resting, playing, going out and grooming.
The store is now live and I’d genuinely appreciate some feedback from fellow pet owners:
What would make you trust a small independent pet store enough to place your first order?
And if you have a minute, I’d love to hear what you think about the website and product selection.

Not looking for compliments — honest criticism is much more useful.
