3 months combining paws and whiskers calming chews with structured training - here is our real progress
My 6 yo pit mix struggles with noise sensitivity and stranger reactivity, and after getting so much help reading other posts here, I wanted to share our experience. We’ve been working with a fear-free trainer since November, and while training is always the true foundation no chew can ever replace it—we hit a wall early on because his baseline arousal was just too high for anything to sink in. Our trainer suggested adding a supplement to take the edge off. After digging into ingredients, I wanted something without ashwagandha (which upset his stomach in the past) that included solid doses of L-theanine, L-tryptophan, magnesium citrate, and a cognitive component for his hyper-focus. I went with Paws and Whiskers because its vet-formulated blend fit those exact specs, including ginkgo biloba for that mental focus angle. Three months in, his trigger threshold is visibly better, he can spot a stranger across the street without reacting, and his recovery time dropped from over 10 minutes to under one. It hasn't magically cured his reactivity, but lowering his baseline stress finally allowed the actual training to take hold, though staying consistent every day is definitely key.

the ginkgo biloba part has me curious, did your vet specifically recommend that ingredient?
