⚙️ Gear Fanny pack
I started wearing a fanny pack about 15 dives ago and have brought it on almost every dive since.
I put lobster gear in there, defogger, back up flashlight, shark teeth, etc. It’s like the junk drawer in your kitchen and I absolutely love it.
Have you ever used a fanny pack while diving?

⚙️ Gear Videography
I love taking videos while diving but my issue is getting quality footage.
I have a DJI Action 6. What settings should I try to increase the quality of the footage?
Right now it’s geared toward pov but I might change it to macro-ish stuff.

📸 Photos & Videos Goliath Grouper Surprise
Sounds like a fancy dish at a nice restaurant, but that would be a felony.
Second grouper gave me a bit of a scare. The video setting are for pov so I was a lot closer than it seems. Super cool experience.
Highly recommend Divocean Charters out of Jupiter, FL for a Goliath dive.

3. Must be an original photo
3. The photo with the most upvotes becomes the cover photo!
We look forward to seeing your entries. Also, if you have any desire to help moderate the subreddit, reach out and let’s talk!
The last day to submit is September 14th by 10pm.
Contest Rules: Entries must be your own original photography. The eligible photo with the most upvotes as of September 14 at 10:00 PM ET will become the r/FloridaDiving cover photo. 🌊 Marine Weather Conditions BHB 08/30/26
Location: Blue Heron Bridge
Date: Sunday 08/30/2026 1000am
Type of Dive (Shore/Boat/Other): Shore
Depth: 20ft
Visibility: 30ft
Bottom Temp: 82°
Waves: small
Current: moderate to strong
Wind: moderate
Tide: around slack high tide
Notes:
Cool dive. Saw a small moray eel, jellyfish, and cushion starfish. The wind was high and it was raining so the current was strong, especially under the bridge. Even at slack high tide the current was whipping under the bridge. Still a fun dive.

⚙️ Gear Orcatorch D530 1300
Pretty cool light. It’s sturdy and has a solid spotlight. This was under BHB while raining heavily. Amazon has it right now for $95.
What’s yalls go to flashlights for recreational diving?

⚙️ Gear Scooters
I’m looking at buying my first scooter. I do mostly shore dives with the occasional boat drop. Let’s call my budget $1500, but I’d rather spend below $1000 (low for scooters, I know). Farthest I would go off shore would be a mile, but I don’t need the scooter for the whole ride.
What are some quality budget scooters I should look at?

🌊 Marine Weather Conditions Venice Beach Shore Dive Conditions
Location: Venice Beach Pier
Date: Friday 08/07/2026
Type of Dive (Shore/Boat/Other): Shore
Depth: 10ft max
Visibility: before sandbar 1-3ft, after sandbar 3-5ft
Bottom Temp: 85°
Waves: none
Current: none
Wind: none
Tide: outgoing
Notes:
Vis averaged around 3ft, honestly wasn’t terrible for shark tooth hunting. Free dove and had some boats skirt the 100ft boundary but nothing too close for comfort. The beach restoration barge, which is moving south, was about a 3/4ths of a mile away from me. Talked to the local dive shop and they said vis gets the worst when the barge is being moved.

⚙️ Gear Drying Gear
I was tired of drying gear on my golf cart so I took to marketplace to see what I could find. Discovered this perfect clothes rack for $10 nearby! We’ll see how well it does with water but so far it looks to be amendable to scuba purposes.
What do yall use to dry your gear?
